Nice two-day side tour out of Rome
Rosalinda_C, May 2024
Overnight stay was in Visuvio Hotel with the most amazing views. We have to go back some day and stay longer in this hotel. Bus driver from Rome to Pompeii and van driver, Carmine (not sure of spelling) were the best drivers I've seen. Francesca, and Sasha were the best tour guides. Our tour guide in Amalfi needs to brush up on St Andrew of Amalfi Cathedral. She told us that the Jerusalem 2+feet cross was curved from only ONE mother-of-pearl which is impossible if she knows what is a mother-of-pearl. She also told us that St Andrew was crucified upside down, and when I said it must be a different saint, she corrected herself.
Worth the trip

Very thoughtful arrangement, with hotel picked up and dropped off. Worry free. The program was full of fun, from the archeological site in Pompaii to the fun filling activities in Sorrento and Capri. This is the best way to cover so many areas in just two days. There were a lot of coordinations in this trip and handled by a number of guides. They are all professionals and very helpful. Highly recommended.
Disappointed.
SUSAN_D, Oct 2023
They toured inner city Naples, not Sorrento. The food venue was in the basement of a hotel with no windows, stark white walls, tile and ceiling. Loud, very few food options. No pasta was offered. Capri was the best part of the tour. We sat in the bay for several hours on a boat waiting to board a small rowboat to be taken into the Blue Grotto. Fortunately the weather was beautiful. The food and restaurant in Capri was great. We felt herded like a bunch of sheep during this entire experience.
Unforgettable experience

The views were breathtaking. The organization was very good. Simona is the best tour guide so far. she was very nice, very caring, always checking upon us and ask if we needed anything, smiling all the time She was so lovely and gave us lots of good advices. Michaela was nice and very polite. Just in my opinion that this tour is overpriced. We didn’t go to the basilica on the 2nd day as written in the itenary and we were a group of 8, 4 of us went to another hotel that was very highly rated ($300/night) while our hotel was around ($100/night) although we paid the same amount !!!! For the price we paid, we expected more
Good but not good.
Richard_R, Sep 2023
The locations were great! I recommend that do not go with Carrani tours. For the price and a six hours drive, I expect the bus to have USB charger and WIFI. In addition, the tour was disorganized. The tour guide directed us to the bus to Rome (which we validated that the destination was Rome with the new tour guide). Then 30 minutes later, they checked the names and we were not on the list. Major issue, after provide our travel documents and they did a few calls the situation was corrected.
Started great but finished poor

I want to start by saying that Sasha and Alessia were both fantastic guides and we had a great time with them in Pompei/Alessia helping us out in Capri. However, we were the only two people from our group returning to Rome from Capri at the end of the tour (the rest were staying on the Coast for longer) so they left us alone on Capri for another guide/group to pick us up. Our meeting time was at 4:00 at dock zero. No guide. I texted Alessia and she was great enough to provide me the new guides contact information. I texted the guide at 4:10 to confirm we were meeting him. He said they were twenty minutes out. Our boat was due to leave at 4:25 from Capri to Naples to meet our bus to Rome. The guide was not twenty minutes out but instead was about an hour away (he didn’t update us, no communication at all. Just showed up) We missed our 4:25PM boat…and then missed every boat until 5:55PM. The guide did not communicate with us at all, we had to constantly track him down. Once the ferry arrived in Naples from Capri we had to wait another 60 minutes for the bus to show up. Again, being told it was only 30 minutes away initially. By the time we boarded the bus it was 8PM instead of the original 5:30PM planned time to get on the bus. We got back to Rome at 11:00PM instead of roughly 8-9PM as stated in the itinerary. We had an early flight the next day so that was very frustrating. The whole situation could have been simply solved if the guide or Carrani had sent a text message to everyone to alert us they were running behind. Instead we had to be proactive and constantly ask for information. Honestly, I would rather have abandoned the return home and caught a ferry and a train from Naples to Rome myself and I wish I did at this time. I don’t think the guide even knew who we were or would have noticed if we did so. Pompei and Sorrento were very cool to see with Sasha. Would recommend passing on Capri. Beautiful but not a lot to see, eat or shop. Blue Grotto line ran ~3 hours. You take a 15 minute bus ride to the top of the island and have a lunch which was included but not good compared to all the other meals we had in Italy.
Perfect tour of the almalfi coast
Laura_h, Jul 2023
This was a perfect two day tour to see everything the almalfi coast has to offer. The arrangements were extremely well organized and the guides were very helpful, friendly and highly knowledgeable. Everything ran smoothly and on time. The hotel for the overnight was beautiful with an amazing view of the coast. Thank you!!
Good tour - too much guide swapping
Heather_T, Jun 2023
Pickup was on time. Driver and tour host were a good team. Picked up expert in Naples. He explained sights of Naples as we drove through. One stop for photos. Stopped for pizza lunch at Pompeii. It was good. Expert gave tour of Pompeii with wonderful information - it was incredibly hot and there is very little shade. Get your drinks and bathroom break before going in. 45 min to explore after guide was finished. At the parking lot we broke into different tours. My group switched tour guides and busses as we were continuing to Sorrento. It was a little confusing but only for a short time. Dropped off at Sorrento hotel with instructions for pickup next day to continue. Too tired / not much time to explore Sorrento. Dip in hotel pool, then dinner and we went to bed. Taken to docks in sorrento and passed on to another set of tour guides. Ferry to Capri. Boat to blue grotto. Back to Capri. Tour split into 2 groups to manage tour bus sizes. A lot of waiting around in Capri for our bus. Guided bus tour. 1 hour or so to explore before lunch. After lunch my group was left for 2 hours to explore and then find another tour guide to take us back to Rome. We were given instructions where to meet him. Our Capri tour guides were taking the rest of the group elsewhere. (This was a little confusing and nerve wracking as we didn’t have our own tickets to pick up our suitcases, or board the ferry, or return to Rome if we couldn’t find the new tour guide) A mix-up at the lunch location between the two guides meant our tickets were missing for a short while. It all turned out ok in the end, but we barely made it onto the ferry. Luckily we had found where our bags were kept and managed to get them released to us without our tickets. (Not sure how I feel about that). Bus back to Rome and the guide waited with us until a driver came to take us back to our hotel. All in all a good experience but the guide switching left us a little anxious and confused - more than I am comfortable with.
Short Tour but nice
Frank_A, May 2023
This tour is a great way to get a feel for Sorrento and Capri. The tour guides were very accommodating and helped us since one of our party hurt her knee 1 day before the tour and could not keep up with the group. The Hotel Michelangelo was nice. This hotel was only one of several used by the group. The weather did not permit us to do the full boat ride or the Blue Grotto, which allowed a little more free time on Capri
Good tour to Pompeii, Sorrento and Capri
Kelly_M, May 2023
Overall the tour was very good. The tour guides were excellent. Our tour in Pompeii was super. The two things that weren't good was the lack of coordination on the pick up time on the first day. A driver showed up at our hotel at 6:30am in the morning and no one from the tour company told us he was coming and when. The second issue was at the end of the first day in Sorrento we had to sit on a bus for an extra 1.5 hours as it dropped people off at 5 different hotels. It was long, slow and frustrating as the roads in Sorrento are narrow and busy. It would have been a much better experience if the they had booked everyone across one or two hotels.
Excellent tours. Very...

Excellent tours. Very well organized. I would definitely recommend this two day tour. So many fond memories.
great tour and trip
Javier_V, Apr 2023
great tour as described. logistic was very nice. Tours and busses always availebale. Hotel was lovely
Tours were great, food was OK.
Valerie_L, Oct 2022
I was nervous going into this overnight tour experience because of the amount of activities. With that said, I gave four stars because of the following: The lunch at Pompeii was OK. I would rather have had the free time to go and explore another food option. The tour itself was fantastic! We were transferred to a different bus since our trip included the overnight in Sorrento. Unfortunately one of the participants didn’t show up at the bus, which caused a two hour delay. I question the way this was handled by the tour agency and I do not fault the person that was heading the tour group. She did all she could to make a bad situation better but it did impact our time in Sorrento. We only were able to spend the night there. No free time before dinner and no sunset to enjoy. We opted out of the dinner because we wanted to be able to explore Sorrento at night. We just didn’t have the time that was planned as booked. We had a quick breakfast at the hotel before heading to Capri. The blue grotto was awesome but the lunch was OK. Again, I would have preferred to venture on my own for lunch. There was not too much time to be had on our own before having to leave and head back to Rome. Our bus guide to and from Rome, Mateo, was awesome! Our Pompeii tour guide was fabulous, and our Capri tour guide, Sasha, was fabulous! As I mentioned before, I was disappointed that because of one person, we lost two hours of tour time that we paid for. The agency needs to evaluate how they handle situations like that. It turned out the person continued forward to Sorento and was there almost the entire time. As a consolation. The tour guide, Valeria, requested a bottle of Prosecco be delivered to our hotel room. Again, Valeria had no control over the situation and did her very best given the circumstances.
Team work makes a dream trip!
MaryJane_R, Sep 2022
OMG what a day! Capri is beautiful! I stressed myself out as my phone fell out of my purse on the transfer from the hotel to the port to catch the ferry. I realized I didn’t have it when getting off the ferry. A huge shout out to Viator network. (Thank you Sascha, Valeria, Rosella and Andrea +transfer driver) they found it and were able to get it from Serrano to a rest stop outside of Rome where I got it back , passing it from trip guide to trip guide! Now that is communication and teamwork 😊 Thank you for going the extra mile and helping a traveler out!
Pompeii and Sorrento was great-the rest were okay
Vashine_K, Jun 2022
I really enjoyed the Pompeii and Sorrento portion of this tour! The rest I felt was a bit rushed. The tour guides were all great and the arranged food was also not bad. I did feel like there weren't much flexibility or freetime to explore the areas on our own. The hotel we stayed at was very clean and was very comfortable. It also had other amenities which I felt like I didn't have time to properly enjoy.
Amazing experience
Kathleen_F, Oct 2021
This was the perfect trip with amazing guides. Everything was timed to perfection. The knowledge of the guides and attention to detail made this an unforgettable experience.
Incredible from beginning to end!
RoseEllen_F, Jul 2021
This tour was amazing from beginning to end. Our guide Rosella was incredible , kind & fun. Then the guide through the Pompeii ruins Fabiano was so incredibly knowledgeable about every bit of what we saw it made the experience breathtaking & unforgettable. Both guides looked out for us incredibly. Our stay in Sorrento was fantastic. We had a delicious dinner & then a fantastic buffet breakfast (Not a continental one). The staff at the Michelangelo hotel were very kind. We were than met by our next guide Sascha who took us on a ferry & then we got to go in the amazing Blue Grotto cave & then shop & eat in Capri on the cliff overlooking the sea. Sascha took such VERY good care of us the entire time making sure we were comfortable with every aspect of the tour. When we couldn't walk anymore he even got us a bus ride back to the ferry that he didn't have to do. This entire tour was incredible & if I was to come back to Italy again I would actually do this one again. This group of tour guides were the absolute best of all our tours & you could feel the genuine care in each of them for us & for what they do.
Response from Host, Dec 2021

GOOD BUT DISAPPOINTING ORGANISATION
yoyobrodie, Nov 2019
My husband and I did this 2 day tour and found the organisation very lacking we arrived in Pompeii and had an excellent tour but got back to the bus to find our luggage outside and that we were being transferred to another bus. 30mins later this was done only to be dropped off at another hotel and told that another bus would pick us up and left by ourselves. finally at destination and sorrento beautiful and hotel gorgeous . capri the next day and was off to the grotto. they transferred people from other day tours to our boat so it meant there was no room for my husband on a boat so they had to over load it and made the experience very uncomfortable with 5 people on a boat that takes 4. then back to capri and we seem to spend most of the day waiting for other groups 1/2 day, full day tours to join us eating into our free time. ferry back to naples and new guide who had no idea who was who., Locations great even though lunch stop on Capri had no view whatsoever. food ok, tour guides did their best. but organisation very very lacking. maybe on 3 hour bus trip from Rome they could have mentioned the transfers to other buses instead of confusion in a carpark.
Response from Host, Nov 2019
Dear Guests, thank you for this contribution after attending our Limoncello two-day tour to Pompeii, Sorrento and Capri. We're sorry you got a perception of confusion during the transfers, we appreciate your viewpoint. Our best selling products (the Limoncello being one of those) are 'group tours' and every day we have the privilege to accompany a big number of travelers from all over the world to Italy's main destination in a comfortable and affordable way. The tour you booked is actually a merge of two other tours, this is the reason why you had to change bus (some people would return to Rome after Pompeii, for instance, while other people would continue to Capri and toward the Sorrentine Coast). That said, your review is precious to us and helps us monitor the guest experience. We'll do all we can to make these operations smoother and have our staff of tour leaders prepare the clients for those in a more organized way. Kind regards, the Gray Line I Love Rome Team
Wow!! Amazing tour! Worth every penny spent.
Marivel R, Oct 2019
For everything it included it was super worth it. The tour guides, locations, food were just perfect.
Gorgeous places but..
DONNA_P, Sep 2019
Places visited were amazing but a delay from Pompeii caused lost hours in Sorrento :( could have stopped a bit in Naples too..guides were informative and mostly cheerful
Response from Host, Sep 2019
Dear Guest, so glad that you liked the places visited, Pompeii and the Sorrentine Coast are real gems, absolute must-sees in Italy. We apologize for the delay you mention, we'll do our best to reduce the impact of such inconvenience on future tours. We appreciate your feedback, thanks for reaching out!
