Excellent Colosseum tour

It was breathtaking to be inside the Colosseum and especially the underground where so much history took place. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the history that she shared with our group.

Our tour guide Andrea was exceptional. Incredible knowledge about everything we saw. Was great with everyone on the tour. Small group size was very helpful. However, our tour times were changed three times before our tour. The last time, we received a ticket for 9:00 and showed up at 8:30, only to learn our tour started at 12:45

Excellent tour, very thorough. The guides were extremely knowledgeable. The only slight negative was the guide for the coliseum tour had a very heavy Italian accent was was hard to understand in English.

Worst trip I've ever taken.....

This was the worst trip I've taken with Viator, and I've been to the Colosseum twice. Our guide was terrible....robotic. Stood in the same place and talked on and on for 30 minutes...and I'm a history teacher! Not only did he ramble in an uninteresting way, ask me or anyone on our tour what we remembered from his ramble....nothing! He was non interesting and has not mastered the art of telling stories. Also, I think he went in illegal. We went underground and we had to go with another lady tour. He said he couldn't talk the whole time because he wasn't supposed to be in there and he could get in trouble or her. He also said he was starting to hate the Colosseum and Vatican because of the crowds. I am pretty sure this guy was not a liscenced professional. As a teacher with a masters degree in history, he rambled facts that were his opinion or something he had heard. The entire tour was pretty bad. Also have a flag. We are in a crowd of thousands of people. He had zero flag, and zero place to stop for pictures. Instead he liked to hear himself talk. The radios were terrible. He talked so fast without pausing I don't know how he was breathing. The older folks in our group all had trouble hearing him and understanding him, but no one could get a word in from all the talking he did. I've never left a tour early, but this was not worth the money at all. By far the worst trip I've ever taken, and the most unprofessional.

The guide was extremely knowledgeable about history and specifics of Rome. However, I’m not sure why the itinerary flipped. Our tour was to be 3 and half hours. Instead it was 2.5 hours. Why did I book a more expensive tour if it was not longer? I think more could have been covered in the tours

This tour was a wonderful experience, Andre was a great guide, and worked hard to personalise the experience to our small group. For the underground part access to a number of restricted areas meant it didn't feel too busy or crowded.

No underground tour and an confusing communication

We were contacted to change our tour to a different day a week before the tour and agreed only to have the tour switched to a completely different time/day later. We had difficulty finding the guide and missed the 2 hour Roman Forum and Ceasar's Palace portion since we could not join them 2 minutes late. The Underground portion was canceled and we ended up paying over $200 for a 40 min rushed tour with a tired guide of the upper portion of the Colosseum. A very disappointing tour.

Canceled tour

The tour canceled on us near the date. We had to queue for 2 hours to buy physical tickets. Since we didn’t have a tour guide, we weren’t able to go to the dungeons; which was unfortunate. I would recommend to buy in the official website instead with their tour guides.

Two tour guides used. One for Colosseum and one for Palatine Hill. Palatine Hill guide was very good. Colosseum guide - Jason - regularly made unprofessional and disrespectful comments about the Colosseum staff to the tour group. Lift your game Jason!

We’re so glad that we paid a little extra for a guided tour and one that included the Colloseum’s Dungeons. The Dungeon’s were the highlight of the tour, and our guide Andrei was incredibly knowledgeable and enthusiastic and added an immeasurable amount to the whole experience.

Incredible access but less than great guide

This tour visits some really cool parts of the colosseum. However, I really did not enjoy the tour guide. He talked absolutely nonstop about information not relevant to what we were seeing including sharing his personal views on coliseum policies and staff. It was virtually impossible to take in the sites or significance of the site because he was rambling nonstop. I literally left the tour early because he just had us standing in one spot for 15+ minutes so he could give a monologue on his random thoughts about ancient Roman life.. I truly wish we had taken a different tour because I feel like I missed taking in the grandeur of the Colosseum.

Brent was such a great tour guide. He went above and beyond to help me and my guest meet the group. He is very knowledgable and shows before/after images while standing at various locations (not many people do this!). He is exactly what you'd want from a tour guide. We left the tour feeling like we absolutely got our money's worth!

Bad Experience

The tour was overbooked so the organizer passed my group off to a different tour company. This other tour company had the same tour at a different time than we booked. They were unwilling to work with us on the tour time and told us we could either cancel (they have a no refund policy) or we would just have to make the time work. Ended up moving plans around to go on the tour. The tour itself was interesting, but be prepared to walk a lot and move pretty quickly through everything.
