We were picked up right on time at our hotel for the drive to the starting point of our hike. The guides provided us with interesting information as we drove out of the city. The hike itself was beautiful and was not overly strenuous. Highly recommend for those wishing to get out of the city for a day and experience the Andes.

Awesome experience in Santiago. Could be off-the-beaten-path, but definitely a must if you like spectacular scenery.

If you only have time for one day trip in Santiago, make it this one!

Our entire experience from start to finish was absolutely great, couldn't find a single fault! We got picked up right on time from the hotel, made a stop before the 1.5h journey to the mountains for everything else we might need and then were on our way. Journey was smooth, as Francisco, one of our guides and the driver, knew the road like the back of his hand. He was a wealth of really well curated interesting information about not only the area of interest but Chile overall. He also highlighted points of interest along the way while providing interesting facts. To top if off we got to learn and listen to different traditional music from the regions of Chile during our drive. Once we got to the trailhead, we were handed a suitable lunch for the hike and a bottle of water each, walking sticks and advised we could use the facilties of the nearby farm before we started the hike. We were also thoroughly instructed about trail safety by Francisco and we went on our way. My mother was unfortunately a little unwell as we started out due to a cold but Matias, our other guide patiently waited along the way to make sure she was alright, since he closed the back of the group. He also patiently waited for me as I stopped to take photos of the wildlife along the way and kindly provided answers to the incessant questions I had about the Chilean mountains, nature and more. I even got to practice my Spanish! He is definitely an absolute gem to converse with. Overall stops were made at every 2kms and while the ascent was a bit tricky for the first part it didn't last long and once we got in our stride, it was a fairly easy hike. The valley and mountains are absolutely stunning, and if you enjoy nature you will be in awe of the San Jose volcano complex with its beautiful colours and glistening glaciers. On our way back Francisco and Matias also organised a little wine and food at a gorgeous viewpoint, before we made the journey into the city. Of all the tours we have taken in the last 3 weeks across the South of South America, this was the best experience and in most part because of the guides so all our thanks to them! I will definitely seek them for another trip when I'm next in Santiago!

A memorable hike in the Andes

Andres and his team were fantastic! I was really looking forward to this hike in the Andes today and it did not disappoint. The perfect size group, beautiful scenery along the way, a great guide. If you are a hiker and want to get out of the city and see some beautiful landscapes while getting some exercise, this is the tour for you! It did not disappoint! And I made a few new friends too!

Laura and Felipe were fantastic and the scenery was wonderful. Laura has a wealth of knowledge and genuinely enjoys what she is doing. The walk was around 7km. It´s not difficult. Suggest you wear long pants as there are short bushes with thorns all along the walk. I wore shorts - not a problem but would wear long pants next time. The views are spectacular. You end up stopping every 10 minutes to take a picture. Empenada and relaxed glass of Chilean red wine at the end are a nice bonus. Just do it.

Francisco and Emily(?) were excellent tour guides on a gorgeous hike into the Andes. Beautiful scenery, plenty of commentary, we very much enjoyed. Notes: Sneakers are not advised. Check the weather; we expected cold and it was warm. Bring something wet to clean your hands before lunch; it is finger food and small sandwiches. The lunch comes well after the strenuous hike so bring calories ahead of time.

Francisco and Laura were amazing guides! Very knowledgeable with the area and the history and current events of the region as well. They made sure everyone on the tour was having a good time and when we finished the hike they served us a delicious meat and cheese platter with wine in a picturesque setting.

This is a fantastic day out for those keen on getting out in nature and being active. The scenery and experiencing being up in the Andes is incredible. Although a long day, Andrés and his team made sure it all ran smoothly. Andrés shared a lot of history and information on the drive out of Santiago, incorporating a lot of humour. He was great at guiding us through the valley and finding the best way to cross the streams. The water, food and hiking poles were much appreciated - it is a long time in the sun, so be prepared.

Had a great time with Ray! Really enjoyed the sights and explanations. Appreciated that Ray was willing to cater the tour to the group’s needs/desires. The small group allowed for more personalization. A few things to note if you’re debating about booking this tour: there are no restrooms before or on the trail. This didn’t cause too big an issue but I would have enjoyed knowing before going. Depending on weather, there may be streams to cross so I benefited from waterproof shoes. Plants on the trail can be thorny so avoid thin/tearable pants. Overall a great trip and absolutely worth the visit! Thanks again to Ray for being such an amazing guide.
