What To Expect

Begin your day trip with pickup in central Siena. Meet your guide and hop aboard your minivan, setting off toward Montalcino.

Travel into the Tuscan hills and stop first at a small winery for a walk among the vineyards. Swirl and sip the famous Brunello di Montalcino, and check out the cellars with your guide.

Next, arrive in the town of Montalcino, the region’s namesake. Soak up some free time to roam the area independently, enjoying the views of the valley below, perusing the shops or tasting more of the celebrated Brunello wines.

Afterward, journey to a family-run winery, where you’ll meet the winemakers. Delve into some of the region’s culinary favorites with a lunch of antipasti, pasta or risotto and dessert, complemented by delicious local wines.

Appetites sated, continue to the ancient Benedictine abbey of Sant'Antimo. Learn about the stunning structure’s history as you follow your guide inside. On occasion, visitors will hear the monks singing Gregorian chants while taking in the scenery.

Top off your trip with a visit to a third winery for a fascinating lesson on production, the aging process and more. Take a seat for a final tasting before returning to Siena.

We loved this tour! Our guide, Mattia, was extremely knowledgeable about wine making and the region. We stopped at 3 lovely wineries and had a delicious lunch at one. We also stopped in the little town Montalcino as well as another stop at a medieval Abbey (and had time to walk around each). In between stops Mattia kept us entertained by explaining the history of the area & wine as we looked out the window at the beautiful countryside. We appreciated the small size of the tour (only six of us in the van). We thought the price of this tour was well worth all that was included. I wish I could give it more than five stars. What a great day! 🙌😊

This was one of the highlights of our trip. Our guide, Mattia (apologies if I have misspelt his name), was excellent. He was very knowledgeable and an excellent storyteller. He told us about the history of the area, the intricacies of wine growing, the techniques that winemakers use, and so on. All of it brought the experience alive.

Absolutely incredible experience. This was so different than any wine tasting I’ve experienced in California. We went to 3 amazing, boutique, wineries where we learned all about Brunello di Montalcino and also plenty of other varieties they make. We went inside of these winemaker’s homes and had home cooked meals with them while they talked about their business. Just incredible. Our tour guide, which I can’t remember his name but had long hair and a beard, was awesome and answered all of our questions very well while driving place to place. I learned so much about wine, grapes, and olives. Cannot recommend this tour enough.

This excursion was fantastic and our guide Juliana really was amazing taking us to three different biodynamic vineyards in the region. Enjoyed lunch at the 2nd stop and even got to see a old monastery and the castle in the town of Montalcino. We drove from Greve to Siena to take this tour. The wines are outstanding🍷
