What To Expect

Depart your central Tel Aviv hotel by air-conditioned coach and set out on your day trip to Jerusalem, one of the world’s oldest cities.

During your journey, hear tales of Jerusalem’s 3,000-year-old past and how the city has been held sacred by the Jewish, Christian and Muslim faiths since biblical times.

Visit the Mount of Olives, a ridge famous for its sweeping panoramas of the Old City. Take photos from here and admire the key landmarks, including the Dome of the Rock rising from the rooftops. Then, drive along the Kidron Valley to see sites such as the Garden of Gethsemane, the ancient Jewish cemetery and Dormition Abbey.

Continue to Mount Zion and visit the Hall of the Last Supper, a chamber believed to stand where Jesus shared his last meal with his disciples. Then, head downstairs to visit the Tomb of King David before continuing into the walled Old City.

Enter through the Zion Gate and walk to the Byzantine Cardo, the  main thoroughfare during Byzantine times. Next, delve into the Jewish Quarter to see the Western Wall (Wailing Wall), a pilgrimage site for thousands of Jewish worshippers.

Work your way into the Christian Quarter and walk part of the Via Dolorosa, the route taken by Jesus to his crucifixion, to see some of the Stations of the Cross (no. 5-14). Pass through souks and courtyards, and visit the hallowed Church of the Holy Sepulchre, believed to stand where Jesus died. See the stone where his body was prepared for burial and where he was laid in a tomb.

Lastly, stroll through the bustling Old City Market and perhaps buy souvenirs (own expense) before your tour ends with a drop-off at your Tel Aviv hotel.

Good introduction to the old city.
Carrie_B, Mar 2023
We enjoyed the trip and our guide was very engaging and knowledgeable. On the downside, we had been on the bus an hour and we’re still sitting in a car park in Tel Aviv waiting for other buses to meet up with us to all shift around customers. It seems there should be a more time efficient way to do this. Then we had the misfortune to be in Jerusalem on the day of the marathon. Much traffic and more waiting at another pick up spot for people running late. However our driver was knowledgeable of the city and did his best in a difficult time. We saw all the sites that were listed. However very little time was spent at each site. Much time was spent outside of each location describing what we were to see which after the delays of the morning was frustrating. Since this is a once in a lifetime trip, we were prepared and knew what each stop was. To have such limited time to see these amazing places after standing and listening to a 10 minute description was disheartening. Also, spending 30 minutes in the “approved” gift shop was not enjoyable. I wish we had been told how long we were to be there because I would have walked around the area and looked in the stalls more. As it was, we didn’t know when we were leaving there so we couldn’t wonder too far. I think it was the place we spent the most time other than lunch. Lunch was good. You don’t order from a menu but cold sandwiches were already prepared which was perfect I think. It was very quick and efficient which I appreciated. The location and view were nice. The drive home was much more efficient. Customers had been sorted by their drop off locations prior to leaving so it was a quick drive back to to Tel Aviv. Also- for those worried, there were frequent toilet stops. Our guide joked that part of his job for the day was to guide us from one loo to the next and he delivered. 😊 All in all, I do recommend this day trip. It’s a good introduction to the old city. I think it’s mostly accessible to everyone who can walk a moderate amount. There was nothing strenuous and the pace was easy. What I do recommend is after you take this trip, plan another day in Jerusalem on your own to more deeply explore the places that there wasn’t enough time for.

Appreciate you taking the time to provide a most detailed report and review of your tour. You have mentioned most of what needs to be known for travelers. Guides do arrange tour schedules to cater for all kinds of travelers. Roughly said ours is a broad scale intro to the city. one should certainly return to explore if time permits.
Great day trip to Jerusalem!

Tomer was a terrific guide. Knowledgeable and friendly. He was detailed in his presentations and entertaining. The sights themselves were fascinating.

Unsatisfied as the tour guide left me behind
Julia_K, May 2022
Hello, I I just wanted to provide some feedback on my today’s trip. In the morning I was told that I only have half a day trip and I will have to find my own transportation back to Tel Aviv. When I showed my reservation saying pick up and drop off to the hotel is included they were looking for some explanations and finally told me that I will spend with this group time until lunch and then I will be with another group for another half of the day. After the launch I was added to the group which was half Spanish half English speaking and they successfully lost me in the first 10 minutes in the whole city, nobody was waiting for me and nobody explained they just left without me. Then I spent four hours trying to get out of the city on my own spend a Normas amount of time and effort and money to get back to Tel Aviv . This is not the experience I would want to recommend to anyone else and I would like to ask you to reimburse me for this trip. Best, Julia

Hava was awesome! We had a great time and got to see everything we wanted. Pick up and drop off were seamless. We leaned a lot about the history and faith of Jerusalem. Highlight of our trip!
Great trip

Great day in Jerusalem and could not have a better guide. Amir Call Our was the best guide we had in Israel. Very interesting and historical trip but no moment of sleepiness at any moment. The only thing is that the lunch is not so good, very standard but you can go anywhere else since you can meet the trip later, so make a little research and try another place than the one they take you to.

This trip really isn't good value. I saw everything on the Jerusalem and Bethlehem tour. My main complaint here was the guide Ithamar. He took us to one shop where we seemed to spend an eternity. We then left the shop and had a very long lunch. Later on we went to one of his friend's stall and waited yet again. All this meant that we only had 15 minutes per location. On the other tour the guide gave us 30 mins per location - and the same locations on a half day tour! Frankly I'd recommend getting transport to Jerusalem, a map and walking round the city yourself. You'd actually see more and have more time to see the sights.

THOMAS L, Oct 2017
The guide was excellent. The bus was comfortable and clean. The logistics were efficient. My small complaint was that I was less than thrilled with the lunch at the designated lunch spot. I wish we would have agreed upon a time for lunch, and been allowed to choose staying at the designated restaurant, or eating on our own. While I also recognize the efficiency of trying to keep the group together, I would have much more enjoyed ability to explore the food choices available on my own.

Duke H, Sep 2017
We had changed this tour for Footsteps of Jesus - which was a 5.0 star rating. Tour guide Gill was exceptional and outstanding and managed very well the time, the tour, and the diverse group which at times, attempted to infuse issues of a political or social nature into the discussions along the tour. .

I booked a day trip tour from Tel aviv to Jersualem, and our guide Yuval was simply awesome - knowledgeable and detailed in explanations of key attractions in aspects of history, context and relevance to old and new testament etc. Might I add we were there on the 'Day of Rage', yet at no point of time felt unsafe. Just remember to stick to your guide and make sure you obey tour group etiquette by regrouping at designated point on time. Highly recommended! - gerard from singapore.

Richard J, Jun 2017
The tour had too much wasted time. Tour guide was very good, but he did the tour in both English and Spanish - Listening to the Spanish translation wasted at least an additional hour over the full day tour. Also, although the tour title says from Tel Aviv, we wasted more time picking up people in Jerusalem and dropping them off at their hotel at the end of the day, prior to return to Tel Aviv. The tour operators need to inform their clients of the additional time involved due to the dual language tour as well as dropping off people in Jerusalem.

Gregory B, Apr 2017
This was my 4th visit to Jerusalem. Each time it just keeps getting better! Our guide was AWESOME and provided us with more than just basic information. Jerusalem is a city full of spiritual experiences, if you want them....the media does not project accurate info on the state of being there...felt perfectly safe! If you need a rebirth or revitalization, take a trip to the HOLY CITY.....
