What a great experience!! Hawaii Joe was our sake guide. His depth of knowledge was amazing and we learned so many things about sake that we never would have imagined, even food pairings with sake were covered. Joe’s passion for sake was evident and infectious as he got us quite excited to learn more about it. We tried a variety of sakes and the charts he gave us to help us get educated were quite useful. He really was a wealth of knowledge and sent us home with many notes and tips! My husband and I really enjoyed our time and would strongly recommend this to anyone interested in learning more about sake. Hawaii Joe was really informative and a great teacher!

The location is easy to find, the experience was great and fabulous value for money. A lot of information and a genuine passion for sake. Tried a great deal of different sakes and I left knowing so much more that I feel confident in what to buy now. The snacks are good and pair well. For anyone new to sake this is the perfect introduction. Be prepared to drink a fair amount.

Joe was an amazing host. Energetic, funny and very knowledgeable. The restaurant was closed, except for the tasting class so it was quiet and felt very personal. We had a great time chatting with our group and learning from Joe. We tasted 6 different sakes, plus a few “bonus” glasses of more unique varieties. We sampled everything from award winning bargain sake, to high end sake, hot sake, sparkling sake and cloudy sake. Highly recommend!

What a great way to learn about the making of sake and the different categories available. Tasted over 8 different sakes. Our host was very knowledgeable. She was a local expert. We had a small group of 5 so very intimate.

So much fun! We had a smaller more intimate experience with 1 other person and it was a blast. We learned a lot about sake and tasted so many different types. We got notes afterwards and our sake sommelier knows so much about Tokyo. She gave us some recommendations of where to go afterwards too. Highly recommend people to take this class if you’re able to!

This was one of my favorite experiences in Tokyo! It was a rainy afternoon but the shop is so cozy and had a such a great atmosphere. Jo, our sommelier, was funny and informative and also gave us food and sake recs for when we left. Amazing Time!

Sip and learn all things sake

I had a day without plans in Tokyo and wanted to learn more about sake as I didn't understand much about it. This experience caught my eye for being affordable and easy to get to near Shinjuku. Joe led a great session with many different sakes to try. There was a lot of education that was easy to understand and learn more about what I would like in sake. The process of making sake is very interesting and there are a lot of complexities and history to understand. Joe did a great job sharing information and making the time very fun. I would recommend the experience to anyone wanting to learn more!

Joe was a master at combining story-telling with data "dumping" to make this session truly enjoyable. And while a 2-hour session will barely scratch the surface on this wine that goes back centuries, you will come out of it with a better appreciation of sake tasting as well as armed with knowledge to make better informed decisions on bottle purchases.
