What To Expect

Discover hidden izakaya bars that you’d never find on your own with this small-group bar hopping tour in Tokyo’s busy Shinjuku area.

Meet your group and guide at the departure point, and then you’ll be on your way to an evening of eating and drinking. Several drinks and snacks are included, which will equal a full meal. Your guide will take you to some of the hottest spots in the area, so you won’t miss out on any of the best drinking spots.

Izakaya bars also serve food, so things like grilled chicken, seafood, and veggies will be on the menu. You can choose what you like.

Your guide will also take photos of your tour, which you’ll receive after so you can remember your night out in Tokyo.

Great fun and group

So fun, we saw the places off the grid! I would have never found those on our own. Unlocked Tokyo nightlife.

funky fun shinjuku tour with food and drinks

Meet next to the big uniglo building and stroll down "piss alley" jam packed dozens of tiny restaurants. Enjoyed a small meal and drinks upstairs at one, then went under the rail tracks to see the huge 3D billboard, past kitten and puppy cafes (no capybara ones), under the huge godzilla head and went to a second place that filled us to the gills with our choice of cuisine. Also, all you can drink! Then off to the Golden Gai, again populated with dozens upon dozens of bars, many that only hold 6 people. Upstairs (very narrow, steep stairs) to a very funky small bar decorated with dozens of hand written signs with the rules of the bar, and small bills covering the walls. Had a very smoky whisky and tea which was great! Exactly the kind of place you'd never go to but glad you did. Aside from the steep (not to code) stairs, the tour was perfect. Definitely worth it for the good food and drinks, and the tour of the quirkier parts of Shinjuku.

This was such great fun! We had a real laugh with our group, trying proper Japanese bars with cocktails and food to choose from in each place. Fuji our tour guide was awesome, he kept it flowing and we had plenty of time at each place. We ended up going to karaoke after the tour was over which was a great bonus. Really great evening to enjoy some Japanese culture.

Had a great evening. Highlight was going to a Sake bar on 10th floor overlooking Shinjuku which I wouldn’t have been aware of if I was walking past. The bar food was excellent. Nat is a great guide. Thoroughly recommend doing this tour.

Our tour guide was nice, but you can do everything on your own. It’s not worth the price. Go explore on your own. 5 friends, $500 later, we could have had much better food and planned our own night.

Tokyo bar hopping and izakaya experience was five out of five stars. Our group leader was personable and went to extra mile to make us comfortable. He even gave us bar recommendations after the tour was complete. I highly recommend this experience. It gives you a more personable local look and feel to Tokyo.

It was a great experience joining the food tour. We went to three places, had four drinks and four dishes. We finished up at a very cool bar. All were amazing. This tour was one of the best that we took while on our trip! I got to try all kinds of food and drinks from a couple different Izakayas (including some of the best sushi I've ever had) and finish the night off at the smallest bar I've ever seen. I got to meet and talk to a bunch of different travelers, and I got to know our local guide too! He was very knowledgeable about the area, culture, food, and drinks. This was an absolute blast, would recommend!
