From initial meeting with our tour guide Ryota, we knew right away we would have a great time. He was friendly and knowledgeable about the area and introduced us to some awesome food and izakaya bars. We learned about different popular drinks and foods popular to the Tokyo area . His bubbly personality made it hard to part the night with after our tour and he invited us to after drinks at a last local izakaya that we definitely would have never found on our own. Ryota made our adventures feel safe and comfortable and knew we were in great care on this tour. Definitely recommend this tour if you are looking for a great time with knowledgeable guide in Shinjuku area. Mahalo from your Kailua Kona, Hawaii Ohana

A tasty tour of Shinjuku’s nightlife

Experiencing the atmosphere of Shinjuku’s nightlife was so much fun. We were able to visit bars, restaurants and izakayas with a group of 8 people that would have been challenging and a bit intimidating without Hiro’s excellent guidance. Hiro was a fabulous guide and very friendly. We recommend this tour for both first timers and experienced visitors to Shinjuku. And yes, the food was sooo good!

It was great that Hiro showed us places in Shinjuku you normally not get to see as a tourist :). It was easy to communicate with him and the places he showed us had good drinks and good food. In any case a tour I can recommend for anyone who is interested in bar hopping :)

We were fortunate to have such a fun group of people on our bar hopping tour. Drinks were flowing and the food was quite delicious. We took one star off because Sean, our guide, was not as informative as we would have liked.

It was raining when we started and never let up, but the food was warm, the drinks kept coming and the guides were amazing. After the official tour was over we continued on with others in the group to a new Izakaya. Definitely an experience and one of our best nights in Japan!

You will drink with good company and eat with good company and end up in the random bar shacks of Golden Gai, how good

Do not eat before this tour! You will have bountiful amounts of food and drink available at the second stop... I had Tak for this culinary tour who was a great and inciteful man open to questions... I just wished he drank with us!! But I guess he was on the job. I was a solo traveller on this tour and it was just lucky that the people who were on the tour with me were also great fun. If you are travelling with a group I would say 100% book this in! you will see two places in Shinjuku that are musts - Omoide Yokocho (piss alley) and Golden Gai with a restaurant in between with bottomless food and drink... So again don't eat before! This also included a quick trip through the red light district called Kabuchiko which is visually quite amazing and lively. For the price you pay this is definitely worth it. Just remember you will end the tour at Golden Gai already quite drunk so pace yourself, or don't... It's your holiday. But Golden Gai is a great place to end up as it is a drinking spot where many other travellers go so it is quite social and an excellent place to meet others travelling.

This was such a great experience. The meet up location was easy to find and we explored the area with our guide. He was super knowledgeable and shared his favourite places with us and took some good photos of us along the way. Definitely a must do at the beginning of your trip so you can explore the area again afterwards.

The guide, Tsuyoshi Mutoh, was kind, generous, intelligent and welcoming. He gave an intimate glimpse into the underbelly of Tokyo in a relaxed and casual manner. His stories were interesting and compelling and you could see by how the tour was treated, that he was known and respected. We had a wonderful time.

Our guide was very friendly and provided us with a great overview of Shinjuku by walking us through some of the parts beyond just the Isakayas and bars (walked through a pachinko gamng parlor and the new entertainment complex), so we got to see everything!

I’ve been around Shinjuku a bit over the past couple of weeks, but this tour gave me the chance to see some new spots and try some great food and drinks! The highlight of the tour was definitely our guide Tetsu. He’s a Tokyo native and knows Shinjuku very well, and he went above and beyond to help us navigate the city and the intimidating menus at the izakayas we visited. After the tour I wanted to find a spot to drink a bit more sake, so he helped me find a great little place I never could have found on my own, helped me order from the menu, and then gave me some personal recommendations on other locations I plan to visit in Tokyo. A wonderful experience all around and a great example of why Japan is considered one of the friendliest places in the world to visit.

Tak made this tour sensational. He was so full of knowledge and great stories.. and he was funny and very just a trove of wonderful knowledge. My travelling partner and I had recently just taken a tour at another company and the tour guide was nice but not experienced/fully fluent in away. that was easy to interact with Tak was so easy to listen to and the food was delicious! We would recommend all our friends and ask for Tak specifically!

We had Amigo as our tour guide and he was great! My friend and I were the only ones on the tour and Amigo really customized it to what we wanted to do. We started with yakitori in Piss Alley and then Izakaya in Kabukicho and ended with drinks in Golden Gai though Amigo also offered to take us to either ramen or dessert if we didn't want to continue on to Golden Gai for more drinks. There's really no set destinations or menu I think they basically have a budget for the amount they can spend so it's fairly flexible. Amigo also told us about the sake distillery process and introduced us to a Hoppy and liquor mix which is apparently a Tokyo thing.
