Gorgeous Dolomites- I’ll Remember you Forever

We had a wonderful day in the Dolomites in April 2024. I had worried that we wouldn’t see much because it was raining in Venice. The highest elevations had a lot of clouds but we still got to see the beautiful Alps. The communication from TravelNow was excellent from beginning to end and they gave us very detailed information on the meeting place. The driver was careful and very professional. We never felt rushed. It was a beautiful day.

Disappointing

This excursion overall was a big disappointment for the amount of money it cost us. First, be aware that even though it says pick up at hotel- it does not! We received a text the day before asking us to meet at 8:45am at the bus terminal. We arrived at 8:35 to be safe. We were told the driver would be there in 10 to 15 minutes. He did not show up until 9am and it was FREEZING. Max as a driver was very nice. The van was extremely clean and it had snacks and water for us. There was also a bottle of prosecco. Max speaks very limited English. For the amount of money we spent we anticipated a guided tour. Someone pointing out highlights along our route, famous churches, landmarks, tell us about villages etc. There is NONE of this. When we got to each stop Max would simply tell us how much time we had. It was basically, get out, look at the lake and mountains and get back in the van. Again- no spots in the town we should walk to or visit. No mention of why people would visit the town- places to have a quick drink. The tour operator only gave us two options of places to stop for lunch; which makes me think they have some sort of agreement with these two places because there were places to eat at almost every lake. I will say that the lunch we did have at Lake Misurina was delicious and the waitress was extremely friendly and informative. There is a brochure in the van written in English, but nothing Wikipedia wouldn't tell you. At the end of the day my husband and I both felt we could have rented a car and done this trip on our own for a fraction of the cost. If you're looking for information, highlights and tips on what to do in each stop this tour is NOT for you.

Fuel, Parking Fee, Highway Costs and State Taxes: These costs are integral to the overall pricing. 4. Viator's Commission: It's important to note that a significant portion of the tour cost is attributed to the high commission imposed by Viator, platform that offers you customer support at any time. Meeting Point: To ensure a prompt and smooth start to the tour at 9 am, we recommend that our customers arrive 10 to 15 minutes early. As mentioned, the tour did commence at the scheduled time, and by 9 am, you were already on the road with the driver. Pick-up: It's important to note that when you purchased the ticket, it was clearly stated that we are unable to provide pick-up services from hotels in Venice. As you are aware, Venice is an island city, and vehicles cannot circulate. Therefore, we offer the option for customers staying outside Venice to be picked up from their hotels. Why don't we have a guide?: The tour is designed to showcase four beautiful and captivating lakes, all with glacial origins. Due to the natural and serene surroundings, there is limited historical or cultural information to share at each stop. Introducing a guide would not significantly enhance the experience, and it would inevitably lead to an increase in the overall cost of the tour. Our aim is to provide a tranquil and immersive experience amid the Dolomite. The tour allows you to enjoy the breathtaking landscapes and serene panoramas in peace, free from the distractions of a guided commentary. It offers a unique opportunity to connect with nature and experience the enchanting beauty of the area. Written guide: At the beginning of the tour, we distribute a guidebook that describes the places to be visited. The intention is for you to read it while traveling between locations, allowing you to absorb interesting facts and details about the lakes. I want to emphasize that I cannot create a guide with information that is fabricated by me. The guidebook has been meticulously crafted through thorough online research, ensuring that it provides accurate and engaging information about the sites. Great memorable experience

We travelled from Venice to Dolomite on a day trip. Even though we travelled in December, we get to experience some lakes (frozen and crystal clear waters) and gorgeous mountains. Driver/Guide agreed for a early start of the trip and provided enough time in each locations visited. Car was clean and journey was smooth. We were welcomed with bottle of wine and plenty of snacks. Overall this trip was a memorable one and my family enjoyed yet.

Spectacular mountains and magical lakes

A well planned beautiful drive. Even though our day was cloudy and rainy, it was still stunning as we went in and out of the clouds up these incredible mountains and through these alpine villages. The fall colors were a very special bonus. Our driver spoke very little English so I wouldn’t call this a guided tour, but it was a well planned tour. The tour company provided a good program including interesting facts, history and photos with a timeline for the day. They even made perfect arrangements for our independent lunch. A must do while staying in Venice!
