The Castelli Romani is a popular day trip from Rome, but visiting the villages and wine country by public transport is a hassle. With this day trip, set off with a private driver to explore gems like Nemi, Albano, and the pope’s summer residence at Castel Gandolfo. Stop to sample local delicacies like “porchetta” (whole roasted pig), relax over a traditional trattoria lunch, and visit a Frascati winery for a tour and tasting.

A word about the experience: Upon arrival there will be small snacks and a drinks provided, then herbs and vegetables will be collected from the gardens. Aprons will be put on and an entire meal will be prepared together. In three hours, an appetizer will be made and then the pasta, made traditionally with wholemeal flour and semolina eggs or water, entirely by hand with the help of a rolling pin. Stuffed ravioli and fettuccine or lasagna and capellini or strozzapreti, can be prepared on request alongside gnocchi. Different sauces for the pasta will be made too! A second vegetable-based dish will be put together and dessert will conclude the afternoon.

You will kickstart the morning with a cup of Espresso and a slice of cake and then you will be ready to work. As you follow their step-by-step guidance, you will learn how to make the dough and how to stretch a perfect Pizza. Then you will be free to choose how to season your pizza. There will be different toppings from organic and km0 ingredients (if in season you can even pick tomatoes and zucchini from their veggie garden) to Italian Mozzarella and Salame. When is ready you will cook pizza in a real wood oven! After the class, when everything is ready, if the weather permits, you will dine alfresco. The dining table will be set in the garden, and you will enjoy your creations with a glass of local wine.
