Admirals Arch, located within Flinders Chase National Park, is visited on most Kangaroo Island sightseeing tours and 4WD tours. Follow the boardwalk along the sea cliffs, enjoying the ocean views until you reach the viewing platform, looking out through the arched rocks. Along the way, admire the unique rock formations, including dramatic hanging stalactites; look out for dolphins and whales along the coast; and spot New Zealand fur seals lounging on the rocks. The most adventurous way to arrive is by hiking the Cape du Couedic Hike, a 40-minute loop, starting from the Cape du Couedic Lightstation.

There is an admission fee to enter the Flinders Chase National Park, and permits are available from the Flinders Chase Visitor Centre. The center also offers hiking maps, park information, and a café.
There are restrooms and picnic spots along the Cape du Couedic Road.

Admirals Arch is set along the Cape du Couedic on the south coast of the Flinders Chase National Park. There’s no public transportation within the park, so you’ll either need to drive or join a tour. From the Flinders Chase Visitor Centre, head south along the Cape du Couedic Road until you reach the Admirals Arch Car Park, about a 15-minute drive. From there, follow the boardwalk to the Arch, a less than 10-minute walk.
Flinders Chase National Park is open daily from sunrise to sunset. Time your visit to Admirals Arch for sunset for the most memorable views, or arrive early to beat the tour groups and enjoy a crowd-free view. Fur seals and dolphins can be seen along the coast year-round, but winter visitors have a chance to spot whales during their annual migration (May to October), while summer is the best time to spot seal pups.
Admirals Arch is one of the many highlights of the Flinders Chase National Park, and it’s worth spending at least half a day exploring the rest of the park. Stop at the nearby Remarkable Rocks, another impressive natural formation, then head north to visit the historic Cape Borda Lighthouse. Hikers can also choose from a network of trails, with popular short hikes including the Snake Lagoon trail, the Platypus Waterhole Walk, and the Cape Borda Clifftop Trail.
