Do not miss this tour!!

This is an absolute must do tour for anyone interested in exploring food and culture of Moorea. It may have been my absolute favorite tour I have ever been on. If possible, go as early as possible on your trip so maximize getting to return to all the amazing spots to eat. Such an incredible experience!!

Tasting our way through Moorea

We had a wonderful food tour of Moorea island with Heimata, aka “H”. He picked my husband and I up at our hotel and dropped us off. His van was very clean and air conditioned. He was extremely knowledgeable about the food culture in Moorea and Polynesia. His background is in culinary and he did not disappoint us on the food we got to try and the history behind the food. The portions were just the right size and the variety of food sampled was enough to leave your belly full! We also stopped at some beautiful lookout locations for pictures. “H” was kind and witty. He answered everyone’s questions and at the end of the tour he gave lots of recommendations on restaurants and snacks. It was a lovely day and we learned so much about the beautiful island. I would highly recommend. Heather

This was a great tour. We had a fun group including one couple from Paris. Heimata was a great guide and explained the culture significance of the food. The tour was focused on local mom and pop restaurants. My favorite was the French baguette filled with chow main.

If you're coming to Mo'orea absolutely add this food tour to your list of must-do's. Our guide, Heimata, has a culinary background and also grew up on the island and during the tour you get the culture and heritage of the island with his knowledge of the flavors and history of the food. He transported us in a passenger van that made it easy to get from place to place. You get a variety of foods from a sit down small tasting to some of the best local spots and "street food" options. Tahiti and Mo'orea has excellent food and water quality, so the comfort level was high with all the small shop tastings. And best part, it ended with sorbet at the great spot on a hill overlooking the ocean. I've traveled to many countries and have had many food tours / food tastings. I would place definitely place this food tour in the top tier of food tours.

Must-do tour

This was a highlight of our trip! Prior to this, we'd been very disappointed in the food in FP, but this turned it around and restored my faith in the cuisine of the trip! The guide is the owner of this company and he is very knowledgeable and fun. The food was all EXCELLENT and we went back to some places later in our trip to have more of the things again. (You also do visit the person pictured in the tour cover, so that's cool!) Support local. :)

Fantastic explanation of cultural influence on food in Mo’orea. Haymata has culinary school education but also understands local food customs and historical and cultural influences. He has a wide ranging knowledge, not only regarding food but also geopolitics. We were able to sample delicious food that we would not normally be adventurous to try.

We had a fun and informative day with Heimata, an amazing host that introduced us to his island, his people, his family, and the food of Moorea. With experience as a chef, he is well qualified to educate, and also to select the choice spots, including hidden gems providing yummy tastings. He was fun and designed the tour cleverly, introducing us step by step, from home grown fruits to creative dishes, ending with dessert and then a local libation and rum tasting. Highly recommend this tour.

This was such an incredible time. A truly cultural and delicious Anthony Bourdain type tour of Moorea. Often people come to this amazing place and never leave their resort to experience the culture. This tour is the MUST DO experience to really learn about the local culture and have some delicious food and beverage. I had the absolute best time and it made me appreciate this incredible place so much more. Heimata is so funny and such an amazing tour guide. 100% recommend.

The food tour was great! Heimata was an awesome guide and it’s a great way to taste the local food and see where the locals eat! He also takes you to some beautiful places that we didn’t know about (they didn’t show up on Google). The tour van is air conditioned and very nice.

Best experience we have had on our trip in Tahiti, we wish we would have done it at the beginning of the trip it was so insightful. My wife and I would recommend every visitor to go on this excursion, the tour guide will have many great recommendations for the rest of your stay and it will help you safe money! Go out and eat at some snack shops, so delicious!

Our guide was wonderful! One of our stops was at the snack shop across from the elementary school where he went. He clearly knew his island and was really familiar with the local food scene. We went to places where you would never know to go as a tourist and we tried dishes that we probably wouldn't have tried otherwise! Great experience!

Perfect Tour in Paradise

What a wonderful day! Heimata met us at the Cruise port for our tour, he was right on time and we went with 4 other people from around the world! There were 6 stops and 14 courses of diverse local foods. From local pineapple and mango to coconut bread, mahi mahi, chicken and others. Probably the best taste was the baguette sandwich with chow main noodles. Bread was super fresh and the taste was amazing. The stops allowed for ample time for picture and Heimata was wonderful in his descriptions to all guests - both in French and english. Heimata was professional and inclusive with everyone. We thoroughly enjoyed our day and would HIGHLY recommend the Moorea Street Food Tour to anyone!!!

Heimata was very knowledgeable and engages travelers to enjoy the excursion. Food sampling are very local and generous! Poisson Cru fresh and delish! Clean air conditioned vehicle for small groups!
