Our Dream Tour with the Human Touch
AnneJ_C, Nov 2022
If we could give ten stars, we would! From booking to the last hugs good-by, this tour company and the experience itself were all fantastic. Our driver Firaz was simply put, amazing. The tour Company Zaid Tours was responsive every step of the way, from Safinaz the tour agent, our facilitation through the airport in Amman to our hotel Ayass were incredibly helpful, and relieved us from worrying about obtaining the necessary Jordan visas. Our driver, Firaz was incredibly professional, making suggestions along the way to maximize our experiences. His kindness, his humor, his ability to problem-solve, his experience and knowledge about the mechanics of each stop were beyond expectations. And our respect for him just grew each day. Just to make clear, the driver’s job is to facilitate transport between sites and not to provide historical background. Which one finds at the sites. What he provided in addition to his travel experience was some personal stories of his life which provided insight into the Jordanian culture. He truly made this trip of a lifetime more than travel to amazing sites. He provided the human connection. We are forever grateful to him for this. And Safinaz and company at Zaid Tours made us feel all the way, “they had our backs” ( See Google translation!!) As for the historic sites, well, do not hesitate to visit these most amazing places. Jordan welcomed us with open arms. “Shukram!!”

Very Good experience. The guide was really helpful and dedicated, it give you a very good taste and full overview of the beauty of jordan. We highly recommend to ask to spend a night in the desert of wadi rum. The only thing i would change is how they price any deviation to the planning compare to what a tour would charge. For example we wanted to spend less time at the dead sea but stop at the baptism site. The price requested was 4 times what it would cost for a half day round trip from Amman while it's only few km away on the same road.

Much of my review is about Zaid Tours, the booking agency. Note: Our tour driver was good and the tour guides themselves ranged from amazing to ok. Overall, this tour was fine. Not amazing, but fine. Communication with Zaid was poor. Considering that communication and hotel bookings are their major role in this-- they outsource the actual tour to other drivers/agencies-- they deserve two stars. We messaged Zaid and they set up our tourist visa to be given when we arrived in Amman. We sent them scans of our passports as they requested and then they responded that they did not understand why we were sending them these passports and they did not have a booking with us. I gave them our booking code again and reminded them that they requested the passport scans. Upon landing in Amman, the visa service provided was good. It was very fast and we were on our way. We informed Zaid of our flight dates and times. Zaid requested our flight dates and times again, which we sent a second time. Upon arrival, they still did not have the correct departure date and time. We were two days into the tour and Zaid still did not our correct departure date and time despite us providing it to them verbally in person in addition to the emails. We booked the Prime class hotel upgrade. Our hotel, Ayass, in Amman was fine though far away from downtown or Rainbow street. The breakfast buffet was okay. The dinner options were fine, but I recommend eating at the restaurants downtown. The air conditioner broke on the last night but not a big deal. Our hotel, Petra Palace, in Wadi Musa was definitely below our expectation and standards. The rooms were clean, but the breakfast buffet was very poor and the building was very old. Bad elevators and complaints about power outages in rooms from other guests. Petra Palace didn't even have our reservation on file when we arrived. We booked and pre-paid transportation from the hotel to the airport. Due to our schedule, we ultimately did not need the transportation to the hotel but it was not refunded. With the availability of Uber, there is no need to book transportation to the airport on your final day. Overall, I think you could do better by booking individual tours, but this tour was fine and you could definitely do worse. If you do choose to book this tour, book Prime class at minimum and do not book or prepay your final shuttle from your hotel to the airport.

TOUR OPERATOR COMMENT Thank you for taking the time to submit your feedback. For ZTT reviews are meant to provide clear transparent information for the reader/traveler something we encourage in the pursuit of constant improvement. We would like to clarify some information with respect to your review: 1. ZTT receives thousands of emails daily and we are keen to reply accurately within 24 - 48 hours. Please note time zone and weekend difference or bank holidays that might affect our promptness. We make sure our reservations and operations teams have all the needful communication tools with our partners and clients. 2. We received an email with passport copies without further details. Our policy for security reasons, avoidance of fraud, and protection of our client’s data we require a booking reference just as you did earlier. We simply followed our procedure asking you to provide your booking ID and voucher. Normally clients hail this procedure; as it ultimately protects them and clients. 3. Prior to your arrival due to the discrepancy that we had already caught, the ZTT reservations team requested you to reconfirm the flight arrival and departure again to make sure you are met correctly at the airport something that happened flawlessly. 4. Our ground staff is trained to reconfirm departure details with clients when they are with them on the tour. This is a procedure done as nowadays airlines change times, routes due to many reasons. December is well known for flight cancellations due to weather and we at ZTT like to stay ahead of the game. A simple example was how New York airports shut down just this week (1st week of January 2018) and many of our clients had departure flight changes. This is usually also hailed by our clients and not taken as a negative point. Lastly, Online transportation apps are not licensed in Jordan to operate tourism. Thank you for assuring us that we do our work to the full with detailed oriented service following up the needful in all times for our client’s interest and benefit which is our priority.

Really enjoyed ourselves with the sights and received highly professional service from our tourguide Basel. I would recommend adding Petra by night, camel ride into sunrise as well as hot air ballooning at Wadi Rum. The weather is great during mid October so we had no problems walking around or enjoying the Dead Sea. Would advise tourists to moisturize well, wear light clothes and hiking shoes for Petra.Do not miss the Al Deir Monastery as it as magnificent as the Treasury. Careful not to bring electronics into the Dead Sea, we killed a selfie stick and a remote shutter in just a light dip into the waters. Only downside was a local guide in Jerash who demanded a rather high tip of 25JD after bringing us to several peddlers and was pushing us to buy stuff, which we were later advised that this is not acceptable behaviour and they should accept whatever tip given. The agency was professional and informed the visitor center about this incident.

Michael C, Sep 2017
This is a very well coordinated and thought-out itinerary, with nearly every detail taken care of by the local tour operator with exceptional attentiveness. From the time of arrival at the Amman airport to departure, I felt we were in good hands. Local tour staff were competent and imparted great security. The only thing I would've changed, with enthusiasm, is the hotel in Amman. We stayed at the Regency Palace. It is not recommended. Let me repeat: not recommended. It has seen better days. While the food and for the most part staff were overall excellent, the accommodations were far less than what we expected for a superior class 4-star hotel and that's being extraordinarily generous. The hotel in Petra, by the way, was superb! Loved it. In conclusion, I would recommend this program to anyone heading to Jordan to see Petra and other sites - just check with local tour companies for hotel selections.

Excellent way to explore Jordan. Would strongly recommend upgrade to superior or deluxe. Hotel in Amman, not good. Excellent guide, Basel Mousa with Ziad tours was awesome. Picked us up at airport, took us to all the locations and back to airport. The most amazing experience except for hotel in Amman. Would highly recommend.

The driver was very good. In this group there were only my husband, my nephew and I and the agency was not flexible at all. We ended up using Uber to do the things we would have done with Zaid Tours otherwise. The hotels really needed a facelift.

Esther_S, Oct 2016
This was a fantastically organised trip. From the tour guides to hotel accommodation there was really very little, if anything we would change. Omar our driver for the whole trip was fantastic and the tour guides we had at the different sites were all great. Jordan is honestly incredibly safe and there is so much to do and see it's definitely worth a visit! This trip covers literally everything we wanted to see and is very flexible adding or taking out places if you want, with also some afternoons of free time to explore places on your own. The weather in October was perfect and we would definitely recommend this tour! We had an amazing time. Thank you! :

Joe C, Oct 2016
This was not actually a group tour, it was more like a private tour of each of these locations. The food provided by the hotel is just okay. However, I would recommend this to anyone that is traveling to Jordan. It is well organized and the tour provides a private driver. The driver was great and even provides Wi-Fi in the vehicle. This was great for uploading photos of the sites we had just seen on the way back to the hotel. The hotels were also quite comfortable. 5 Stars - Highly Recommend this to anyone.

Excellent trip of sites you can't...
Patrick I, Jun 2016
Excellent trip of sites you can't miss while in Jordan. Our tour guide was Basel, whom I highly recommend. He met us at the airport, and we were carefree for the rest of the trip. He was very nice, knowledgeable, and well read. He was very flexible with additional sites we wanted to see, and we appreciate the history he provided, including his unique insights into the similarities and contrasts of Jordan with surrounding areas. He was a safe driver, and knew the ins and outs of the cities very well. I consider myself fairly well traveled, and one major concern I had was the safety in Jordan. However, after landing and leaving the airport, I never once thought about this. The area is very safe, and I feel a bit embarrassed at how wary I was prior to the trip. There is police and an armed presence everywhere. The infrastructure is relatively clean and maintained, and is akin to some major cities in the US and Europe. The people seemed happy and nonchalant, and I was surprised to see the abundance of malls, massive homes, nice cars, and manicured highways. In a lot of ways, I felt like I was just in another part of Los Angeles good or bad lol. With regards to the tour, it was well organized and we had a lot of free time each day. The only thing we would have wanted to improve was our hotel location in Amman. Our hotel was in Western Amman, which is definitely more of suburbia. We would have preferred the city and downtown area of East Amman to explore, and would have chosen this area if it is an option. Some notes. We traveled in June, so the temperature reached 40C. Don't forget sunscreen and light clothing, and definitely bring some form of headwear that broadly covers your face and neck... This was an absolute life saver. Shoes will get sandy/dirty, so bring comfortable throw-aways. Voltage is 220. Average full course meal was 15. Water .50. The visa is 40JD, which you obtain at passport control.

From the moment we arrived, the tour was very well organized and planned for us. Shadi our driver and main tour guide was wonderful. All the guides at each location we went to were knowledgeable and helpful. Khaled-Al-Zawaideh in Wadi Rum Dream Camp drove us around the desert and gave us much information about the history and lives of the people. We would recommend this tour! This is the second trip we have taken using Viator and highly recommend...
This was our first time in Jordan...
Geoffrey M, Sep 2015
This was our first time in Jordan and highly recommend the 6 night Best of Jordan tour. The sites are extraordinary, especially Petra and Wadi Rum but the package as a whole was well organised, planned and delivered. Shady pronounced Shar-dee, our driver, was exceptional - a pure gentleman who went out of his way to please. Shady provided plenty of bottled water to keep us hydrated during the heat wave of early August, plenty of extra stops for photo's and always gave us time to explore the various sights unlike some of the other middle eastern tours we did which felt rushed. His knowledge was good and general advice around local customs and practice was great, and always delivered in a friendly manner. We always felt safe with Shady by our side. We also went to Israel, Turkey, Egypt and the UAE but none could beat Shardy and the Best of Jordan tour. Geoff McD.

I just returned from this trip and had the most amazing time. Anyone who is concerned about Jordan's proximity to middle east conflict zones should rest at ease, Jordan is extremely safe and very peaceful. My driver was friendly and very knowledgeable. Tour guides were extremely informed of history and up to date. I would recommend hotels in Amman near Circle One and Circle Two.

Aafia C, Oct 2014
I just returned from this trip and had the most amazing time. Anyone who is concerned about Jordan's proximity to middle east conflict zones should rest at ease, Jordan is extremely safe and very peaceful. My friend and I traveled together (2 women) from the US and UK. We had a private driver for the whole week, Shadi, who spoke excellent English and was helpful throughout the trip. The cost was inclusive of accommodation with breakfast and dinner at the hotels including days of arrival/departure, and included entrance fees to excursion sites, and local guides at Jerash, Madaba, Mount Nebo, Petra and Wadi Rum. Jordan has something for everyone, it is absolutely beautiful. The hotel in Amman was well appointed and there were plenty of food options. The hotel in Petra was on a ridge in Wadi Musa, the staff were friendly and there was a nice pool complex to relax in. This trip definitely packs in the highlights in 5 full days of excursions. If you enjoy hiking, you may consider adding an extra day in Petra to really explore more of the trails. If you enjoy being in the desert. you may also like to extend your trip with an overnight camping stop at Wadi Rum. On the whole, there was enough time at each of the sites to cover the main features. Jerash is on hill and can be quite windy so take a wind breaker and covered walking shoes (~3 hours). Mount Nebo is spectacular (also windy). The Dead sea resort we visited was fairly basic, but the resort area had adequate changing facilities, a pool and chairs if you want to make a day of it. At Petra, make sure to attend Petra by night, a candlelit experience not to be missed- comfortable closed walking shoes are essential. I would definitely recommend 2 full days in Petra as I love to take pictures and would want to explore more. It is breathtakingly beautiful. The people in Jordan are very welcoming and friendly, and unlike some places, as 2 women we were not hassled at any time. Highly recommended destination.

We had the best time! i recommend this tour highly. Our driver Shadi was friendly, knowledgeable and always helpful. You don't always have to stick to the tour you can go off-course and that's a luxury you don't usually get with group tours. I really preferred the privacy as well. We always felt safe even when we ventured out on our own so don't hold back. The only thing to critique is the hotel in Amman (regency palace) its a little aged and had small issues with the bathrooms. other than that great =)

Blanca, Apr 2014
This was a wonderful experience as we had a limited time in Jordan and we certainly got to see as much as possible in the time we had. We had a great driver who spoke very good English, drove very well and balanced perfectly the correct amount of info, conversation and peace and quiet we wanted during our trip. The hotels were very good. Petra exceeded my expectations, it was amazing! We also got to do horse riding. Wadi Rum and the Dead Sea were also great. The food that was included was excellent and we had perfectly timed comfort stops. Jordan is a great country and don't be put off by the problems in Syria. It's the best time to visit at the moment. We were two women travelling together and felt comfortable and safe at all times. Definitely recommend it!

Fantastic tour! Everything went like clockwork thanks to our special driver, Shadi. He was all you could want in terms of service, helpfulness and very friendly manner. In addition he provided all the information you would normally expect from a tour guide. The full itinerary was a great way as the title says to see the best of Jordan. Highly recommended!
