What To Expect

Meet your driver at your Amman hotel, and set off by private, air-conditioned vehicle around the landmarks.

Climb to the Citadel, and head inside (own expense) to view the ruins, including the Roman Temple of Hercules, and 8th-century Umayyad Palace. Soak in the sweeping city views from the hilltop, and then continue to the Roman Theatre.

Enter the 1st-century amphitheatre and the nearby Museum of Popular Traditions (both at own expense), and after exploring Amman, journey to Jerash, one of the Middle East’s best-preserved Roman cities.

Go inside (own expense) and explore independently or hire a local guide (additional cost). Built by Alexander the Great in the 2nd century BC, Jerash was one of ancient Rome’s Decapolis league — a group of 10 self-governing cities. Walk through the gateway to see highlights like the Oval Plaza, Colonnaded Street, and baths, and theaters.

Then, drive to the Dead Sea, the salt lake set 1,312 feet (400 meters) below sea level. Enjoy around an hour free to float in the salt-rich waters and relax on a mineral beach equipped with parasols and showers. Swimming pools, a restaurant, and other amenities are nearby.

Your tour ends with a hotel drop-off in Amman.

See Important Jordanian Sights in a Day

My son and I enjoyed a full day of Jordanian sightseeing with our wonderful guide Khader Dawood. We appreciated the hospitality from our guide and people we encountered. We enjoyed it, but we would definitely recommend visiting in a cooler time of year!

Our driver, Murad, was very safe and professional. He gave us a lot of information about Jordan. I tend to ask a lot of questions, and he answered everything! Murad was very clear on the process and times to pick us up at each location. He walked us in and made sure we understood the process and prices to get into each location. We visited a few places in the old city of Amman; travelled to Jeresh; and then to the Dead Sea. The company has a deal with a local hotel, so we were able to change our clothes, use their towels, and beach front access to the Dead Sea. Murad even allowed us stop for food when we said we needed to eat. Murad was amazing at pointing out the different neighborhoods, and monumental points throughout the day. I recommend Murad as a driver, but also suggest a full tour guide to learn about all of the sites after you leave the car (as drivers do not enter sites with you).
