If you do not have, they will give you there a scarf to put on your waist, ( 3€ charge ) or if you have one you can do the same. For men is advisable to wear long pants. Wonderful trip to Meteora with Crispy Local

Awesome!!! Meteora is amazing - a must see place. We were a group of 8 and had a private van provided by Crispy Local. Ioannis, the tour operator was very responsive and easy to communicate with. The driver George was also our defacto guide. He picked us up at the cruise terminal in the morning and brought us back to Athens on the evening. George is wonderful. He customized the tour to meet our requirements. Not only was he knowledgeable about the local area but he had a broad swath of knowledge and we really enjoyed speaking with him. All in all, a memorable trip that we will always cherish!

Meteora in a Day

My husband and I made this trip with our 12 year old granddaughter. We had just a few days in Athens so I carefully considered the amount of time this excursion would require and whether it made more sense to take a shorter day trip. In the end we decided to go; reasoning that the opportunity to travel through the Greek countryside, visit the site of the Battle of Thermopylae and to see the unique monasteries of Meteora was worth a full, exhausting day. We were right: the day was a once in a lifetime experience made stress-free and less exhausting by Anthony, our wonderful driver, guide and teacher. According to my watch it was a very long drive but Anthony’s insight and conversation on Greek life, history, and topography made the trip very enjoyable.

Our driver was very mellow, friendly and accomodating. The drive from Athens to Meteora was very pleasant and scenic. Meteora was awesomely beautiful. The monasteries and the views were impressive. Our lunch at a Kalambaka taverna was lovely. Even though we went to Meteora on our last day in Greece after an 11-day tour we were so glad we went. Truly a memorable experience.

Breathtaking!

My son is studying abroad in Athens for the semester. When I visited in March, I wanted to see as much of Greece as possible in the 5 days I had - so I booked a few tours through Viator. Our day with Anthony and Nathan with CrispyTours to Meteora was truly incredible. If you're wondering, it is well worth the drive to see the amazing monestaries in the clouds in Meteora. Breathtaking and incredible. An added bonus was the stop at Thermopylae where we learned about one of the most important battlefields in world history. We also enjoyed a traditional Greek lunch on the way home - and great conversation with our guides. A big adventure - and a great day!

Amazing trip to monasteries!

This trip is about a 4 hour drive to Meteora but Giorgos was an excellent driver. We stopped at the halfway point to stretch. This stop is great for coffee and a pastry. The monasteries and the views are amazing!! Make sure to wear comfortable shoes as there is a lot of walking to the each monastery. The restaurant we had lunch was excellent and had a great view too. Would highly recommend this experience!!

Meteora was a highlight of our time in Greece

Our trip to Meteora was a highlight of our trip to Greece and the Dalmatian Coast. We could hardly believe our eyes and wondered how anyone could have built these pinnacle-top structures so long ago. George was just wonderful - the perfect guide. He was punctual and, equally important, arrived with warm, savory treats. He has a friendly personality and is very knowledgeable, explaining what we were seeing along our route through the countryside, as well as in Meteora. We talked with him about a broad range of subjects regarding Greece. He was very professional and very open to questions of all kinds. By the end, we felt we had really had an interesting, personal encounter with a terrific representative of his country. Before returning to Athens, he brought us to a wonderful restaurant in Kalabaka - Meteora Restaurant Gkertsou Family. The food was delicious, the service warm and attentive, and the atmosphere was that of a big, wonderful old tavern. When he dropped us off at our hotel at the end of the day, he gave us a small bottle of local olive oil. The trip was a full day and we were tired by the end, but what a great day we had. I would recommend this trip to anyone wanting a really special experience in Greece. George is 5 star.

wonderful trip to meteora

Our driver was professsional with a lot of information and definitely a person we felt we could trust to guide us correctly. And that he did!!! he took us to the best monasteries and in the best order as well as gave us tips on hoot expedite the tour. There were lots of steps to take but he even dropped us off in the top of one and picked us ip not he bottom to minimize the long trek. He guided us on the lunch location and it did not let us down!!!! Would highly recommend our guid and the tour!!!!!

We were picked up by the wonderful Harry for our day trip to Meteora. We stopped on the way 2 hrs in at Thermopylae to see the memorial to Leonidas of ‘The 300’. Another 2hrs to our first monastery. No shorts for men and only a skirt or long dress for women. Shoulders to be covered. You will be provided with a sarong upon entry if not suitably dressed. Harry stopped at several points along the way between the monastery visits to allow us to take photos. The churches within each monastery anre absolutely breathtakingly beautiful. I witnessed many devoted visitors who were overwhelmed at being there. We stopped afterwords for lunch which was superb. We then drove the four hours home back to Athens. What an amazing experience we had. Such a unique experience and well worth the hours driving. Harry was a wonderful driver and host. I highly recommend this journey and feel blessed to have been able to visit these monasteries.

Breathtaking views and an almost spiritual experience. We watched many videos and reviews of Meteora and our high expectations were surpassed. In our view Meteora is at the same level as The Pantheon Acropolis and is a Must see!

This was a long trip from Athens, so it was great having Melina share her local knowledge of Athens and the destination. She planned a thoughtful itinerary and added a few stops to break up the ride with historical points of interest. There is a lot to see - so having someone with experience maximized our visit. The day was capped off with finding a great local restaurant.
