Overview
In 1885, America’s first serial killer stalked the streets and alleyways of the city of Austin. He came to be known as the “Midnight Assassin,” but his identity remains a mystery. On this guided evening walking tour, explore historic Austin including West 6th Street, Guy Town, and the Warehouse District, plus stop for a drink at the Driskill Hotel, as you learn about his crimes.

What To Expect
Make your own way to the designated meeting point to start your 75-minute evening murder-mystery walking tour of Austin. Learn more about the city while touring on foot, including parts of the city’s history that are often overlooked on mainstream daytime tours.
Your guide will lead you on an approximately 2-mile (3.2-kilometer) route around Austin while recounting the chilling tale of a 19th-century ax-murderer whose identity was never discovered. Perhaps you’ll be able to piece together their identity—or at least have fun trying.
Walk through the Guy Town and Warehouse District nightlife areas of Austin and stop for a drink (own cost) at an iconic hotel before concluding the tour. This walking tour is a fun standalone evening activity or a good way to ease into a night out on the town in Austin.

I am a true crime junkie so this tour was right up my alley. I didn't expect a huge crowd since it was a Wed night. The tour was my husband, myself, one other person, and Shannon as our tour guide.
I have to say that I really appreciated Shannon's storytelling and enthusiasm for the tale. It was a nice look and it's nice to see how the people around town respect each tour guide and recognize them. Shannon was a wealth of knowledge. She showed us old pictures of Austin at various spots which brought the story to life. The tour ended at the beautiful Driskell Hotel where we could enjoy a drink or just sit in the lounge. I had a good time.

Shannon was very knowledgeable and then experience was a lot of fun. The walking distance was very minimal. The only complaint was the noise level at the Driskill.

Thanks so much for touring with us on Murder Walk Austin! The Driskill is a privately run hotel, so we can’t really control those noise level. But, as you learned, it was built in 1885, right in the middle of the horrific events that happened in Austin with America’s first serial killer!

We had family in from out of town and thought this would be a good time. Little did we know it would be a great time! Our guide, Will, was amazing and you could tell he had incredible passion for what he was doing. I completely recommend and if you can get Will you will have a fantastic time!

The tour was fine but I wouldn’t recommend. The guide was informative but kept getting annoyed at there being noise on the street… on a Saturday night…in the most popular area of Austin. You get no extras so why the price is almost double of other tours doesn’t make sense.
