What To Expect

Constructed in 1918 with a distinct art nouveau aesthetic, Gellert Spa is located on the Buda side of the Danube River, where mineral hot springs from within Gellert Hill feed the spa. Budapest is a city known for its bath culture, and Gellert Spa draws locals and visitors alike with its ornate mosaic walls, stained-glass windows and impressive glass roof in the main hall.

Begin your full-day experience by skipping the line at the main entrance and making your way to a separate welcome desk, where a host leads you to your own private changing cabin. From there, get ready to unwind and explore 13 indoor and outdoor thermal spring pools. The thermal waters are cooled from their natural high heat of 170 degrees Fahrenheit (77 degrees Celsius) to varying temperatures and contain minerals such as magnesium and calcium, a treat for your joints.

Be sure to check out the steam rooms and saunas, too, taking a quick dip in the cold pool after you've had enough heat. The Roman-style pool and wave pool also await you. There’s no need to keep your eye on the time, as the ticket is valid for full-day use.

When you’re ready to rinse off, enjoy a shower with a Gellert Spa gift of shampoo and shower gel, included in this package.

If you choose to upgrade, continue the relaxation with a spa treatment. Please click on 'View Additional Info' to see a map for Gellert Spa.

Got there and issues as Viator ticket was bar code and not QR do took a while to be let in. Viator needs to address this with the provider as not good for clients. I’d read you could hire towels but turns out only buy them for £7 each. Bought one as no choice and left it behind. Large outdoor pool was empty and shut which was a shame. Other facilities all good. Busy but got in everywhere. A nice experience for 2 hours.
Not what we expected
Natalie_G, May 2024
The water was Luke warm, the largest pool was closed, it was very crowded. Was disappointed given all the hype
Great experience

Private cabin, clean warm water, relaxing massage. Friendly staff. Great coffee shop. Needs better, clearer signage direction. Difficult to navigate. Great once you find where you’re going .
Worth a visit

Really interesting set of pools. Different from Széchenyi but nice to swim in a fascinating old building. Outdoor pool was closed but outdated and probably dangerous anyway! The outdoor hot pool was a nice place to rest after all our walking in the city
Overpriced and a bit grubby by the outside pool
Annie_W, Feb 2024
Sitting outside in the lovely thermal waters was a very therapeutic experience. The outside pool is very small and was very crowded however. The outside area is grubby and very tired. We couldn’t use the indoor pool as we had no swimming hats (Didn’t know one was needed until we got to the pool) Also there were no towels available to rent so we had to buy towels! The price is far too high for what you get! I would not visit this particular baths again. Changing cabins are very small but are secure and you can leave your belongings in there!
Lovely spa

Lovely spa especially in the snow . Struggled to find our way around a map or better signage would help Definitely get a cabin.
Nice on a sunny day

The outdoor area is lovely- very relaxing and clean. Lovely to sit on the sun terrace and swim in the outdoor pool. Some of the indoor areas are pretty dark and in need of some renovations and general cleaning
Take the healing waters

it was an absolute amazing experience. Building itself was magnificent. The pools were exhilarating. Is it good to have a cabin to store your belonging, and not have to worry. it was the most relaxing day. I can’t say it enough. I would go back in a second.
Really nice experience

Had a really nice day at the spa. Only down side was the absolutely miserable girl who booked us in.
Thoroughly enjoyable

The service from the staff was excellent, very informative, helpful and pleasant, something you don’t often see these days!
Not customer focused and ready for international tourists
John_J, Jul 2023
The person at the ticket counter gave me a hard time when I showed her the Viator passes/tickets on my phone. After about 5 mins she asked around and finally they accepted it. They are not customer focused and barely speak English. They don't tell you what items you need. It's very reminiscent of communist era. Once in the pool the experience was fine. Bring towel because you have to buy them. You also need a bathing cap for the inside pool.
Wonderful experience

Had a great time. Little old but clean. People were very helpful. A lot of choices. Massage was great.
Beautiful spa but a little run down
Gill_F, May 2023
This was once obviously beautiful but it’s now a bit tired and run down. Still had a lovely day but felt a bit cheated, was told we could hire towels but had to buy them along with compulsory flips flops, for £48!!! If I’d know. I’d have brought my own, like I did with a swimming hat as that info was on the web site.
Go somewhere else

Staff at front desk were polite, but that’s where it stopped. Rude lifeguards, no layout of where things were. Overpriced and under delivered..
Spa
Victoria_A, May 2023
Spas were great and very relaxing. Had a problem needing to get a taxi. Staff would not help us call a taxi and we’re very rude at the information desk. Could not get my phone to work. Finally had to walk a few blocks before we c oils find a taxi.
Yes!
Lisa_H, May 2023
Loved the baths but could have used some more information before going! A map of the place? What to bring? It's labyrinthine and confusing - but wonderful and worth the visit!!
Great day to relax must visit in Budapest
Charamine_C, May 2023
Great experience, went in couple but ideal For same group of feamales or males , did this on our last day and it was soo relaxing made us tired and relaxed and refreshed rest of day , shame the sandwich bar wasn’t open didn’t want a meal at 3pm also we booked on line before we went it was cheaper booking when you get there but you take a risk incase it full summer months and weekend especially . We went in a Friday and the out side lol was open but wave pool wasn’t going .
A must do
Ioannis_T, May 2023
