Wonderful people at the ranch...
Denise_T, Mar 2018
Wonderful people at the ranch, delicious food and an all around good time. The travel arrangements could have been a LOT better. We were supposed to have been met at the port terminal at 9 am for the tour to start at 930. We weren't met until 9:40 and then we were just moved to a different spot at the terminal and told a van would be along to pick us up and the driver would be wearing a pink shirt and the bus would have a certain logo on it. We waited until 10 am and along came a bus for us. It took us around town, picking up other people for different tours and then dropped us off somewhere in Santiago and said another bus would be along to pick us up. Luckily, the bus came before the other bus pulled away and the person ran back over to tell us because we would never had known it was there, across the street in traffic. This bus then started our journey to the ranch, after again making several stops in the city. Needless to say, we got there a little late and frustrated. Then, which we knew, we were dropped off in town and had to get a cab back to the port. We did get a cab and a great cab driver. He was the best part of our transportation that day, as the rest was horrendous!

Dear Bill Thank you so much for sharing with us your experience with the gauchos. This tour shows closely our gaucho culture, we are glad to have been your host for this excursion. We are truly sorry to read about the issues with the transfer. The service you booked was a regular transfer, there are other passengers who are taking the same vehicle. For this reason, passengers must wait until the begging of the tour. We would like to remember that this tour doesn't include drop-off. We apologize if it wasn't clear enough. It will be a pleasure to assist you on your next visit! Best regards
This was the same tour offered by...

This was the same tour offered by our Holland America cruise ship although we didn't know at the time, the cruise excursion was considerably cheaper. We were not picked up from the port as arranged and after much delay, we were told we had to get a taxi at our own expense. The port taxi's are expensive but we arrived at the Alvear Palace Hotel to meet the guide Aimee. We waited with other passengers from the Hotel for another half hour . The guide was very nice and tried to make the trip really enjoyable. The cruise ship passengers arrived well before we did and the food and drink was ample but not plentiful. I really enjoyed the horse ride and buggy ride but not the museum because with 460 guests, time ran out and it was time for the lunch. I asked for a new bottle of wine from 2 different waiters and it never came the dancing and singing was good as was the food but passing the hat to tip the entertainment was unexpected but others must have been happy as it was overflowing. I enjoyed this trip but it was not relaxed and easy going, it was running late, tightly scheduled and frantic. The riders were skilled and their horse riding display was entertaining.

Dear Hankins, Thank you for sharing your experiences with us We are sorry for the misunderstanding at the time of pick-up, we have created an option "Shorex" for this modality to better fit the needs of the client. In high season is complicated the logistics at the port, fortunately, we have adapted and improved the way to make the collection. In the season of cruises, this tour is trendy for its approach to our culture, and that gives us a trip to the surroundings of the city is why in the ranch are a number of passengers considered.  However, we have changed the protocols at the ranch so that all passengers can enjoy its attractions We hope that the inconveniences on the tour haven't overshadowed the experience at the ranch, this tour shows that part of our country culture and teaches the traditions that we most appreciate.
Driver 90 minutes late on arrival...
M Richard M, Mar 2016
Driver 90 minutes late on arrival, lied to about why late, told it was a private tour, 20 others on bus, rushed into area and almost missed horse back ride.
Response from Host, Jan 2021
Dear Richard, Thank you for your comments, On our product page, it is clear that this is not a private tour. That is also the reason why the transportation was delayed, remember that other passengers are taking the same tour and must pass through several hotels. We are sorry that it was not clear enough for you.  Despite the inconvenience of the transfer, you enjoyed your tour and have good memories of your experience.  It will be our pleasure to assist you on your next visit.
The best part about the excursion...
Nancy K, Jan 2015
The best part about the excursion was the musical performance and the empanadas. The ranch itself didn't impress me but the people working there were very nice. I did not appreciate the 35 minute stop to shop in a small store. I was not expecting that at all.
First class tour guide, pick up time...
A_J, Mar 2014
First class tour guide, pick up time ok, excellent food and very good tango show. Lots of wine, beer and soft drinks included in the price.
I would have given you a 5 Star...
Paul D Y, Dec 2013
I would have given you a 5 Star rating except for two things. 1) The pickup at the Cruiseport was a disaster-the Viator person was late, she had not arranged for taxi, and there was a lot of confusion. 2) We arrived at the Viator office in BA to find that we were crowded on a 14 passenger van/minibus - When the 5 of us got on, there were 16 passengers. The program at the Estancia was really good! Your guide was average.
Guide and tour both very good...
Andrew D, Feb 2013
Guide and tour both very good. Ranch hospitality v good, particularly food/barbecue. The wine was poor but they redeemed themselves with good beer. Music and dancing excellent as were the gaucho displays. Spoilt by 0900 pickup then 3/4 hour wait for coach and no drop off at port
