What To Expect

Thanks to its exceptional biodiversity and ancient history, the Daintree Rainforest was recognized as part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2015. Your full-day adventure through the Wet Tropics of Queensland begins with pickup in a luxurious coach. Travel north along a scenic coastal highway while your driver-guide narrates passing attractions.

First, stop at Mossman Gorge Centre for morning tea before taking a guided walk through the rainforest. Learn about the history and wildlife of one of the world's oldest tropical rainforests.

Delve deeper into the rainforest on a cruise down the Daintree River. Learn about the diverse habitats of the surrounding ancient ecosystem, and keep an eye out for exotic birds, tree snakes, and estuarine crocodiles lounging on the riverbanks.

Next, stroll along a tropical creek and enjoy special access to a private rainforest property for a secluded lunch spot. Enjoy a traditional Aussie barbecue featuring grilled meats, fish or a vegetarian option served with fresh fruit and salads, topped off with specialty Daintree Tea.

In the afternoon, make your way to Cape Tribulation and stroll along a famous beach where the rainforest stretches all the way to the shores of the Coral Sea. Stop at the Daintree Ice Cream Company for a refreshing afternoon treat and then continue on by coach through the mountainous rainforest of the Alexandra Range, stopping at a lookout to soak up views that stretch all the way to the Coral Sea and Snapper Island.

Return to your original departure point at the conclusion of the tour.

A medium level of mobility is required to join this tour. The coach used has several steps on entry and passengers will board and disembark the vehicle several times throughout the day. The guided walks at Mossman Gorge and Cape Tribulation Beach are both considered easy grade and under 1klm return in distance.

Our guide Scott was very knowledgeable and funny, Mossman Gorge is spectacular, the lunch at The Turps was lovely and the rainforest beautiful 😍 My friend from England loved the stories of Captsin Cook and the Endeavour.

Not a good experience. The bus ride was unpleasant as it was driven fast and we were all motion sick. in addition, experiences were skipped on the trip.

10 hour bus ride

Highlights were the quick croc spotting boat, ice cream and nice meal provided. That's it. The entire day is essentially spent sat down on a bus. You get about 15/20 minutes in the actual rainforest and it's just an elevated footpath. Guide was friendly and funny. Wouldn't recommend it unless you've got a day you're desperate to kill. There are definitely other rainforest tours that actually involve spending time in the rainforest.

Lot of Time Sitting In Bus

It takes a lot of time. If you have to make a dinner date or get on a cruise ship, I would avoid. Don't get me wrong, you see some interesting points of interest but I'm not a huge fan of long bus trips. Greg was our driver and he was really entertaining and interesting. He was very knowledgeable of the areas we visited and funny. If you like this type of tour, it would be great. If you are an action oriented person, maybe go snorkeling on the GBR

With a limited time for Cairns we wanted to see as much as possible. Scott and Down Under Tours provided an amazing experience. We would love to have had more time in each place but time was the limiter. The best part was the river cruise, where we saw 3 crocks, a tree snake and numerous birds. On the bus itself, Scott, our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly and answered all of our questions. We had the exceptional luck of seeing a daddy Cassowary and a baby while driving.

Deducting a star because the River cruise was advertised as an hour but was really only about 30 minutes. Gorgeous views of beaches and rainforests. The lookout stops were especially pretty. Daniel was a great guide, extremely knowledgeable and friendly. As an aside, please double check your pickup point with the tour operator. Our Viator tickets said we’d be picked up from our hotel but the meet up point was actually somewhere else (nearby).

Unable to get into Mossman Gorge….. it was like traveling half way around the world to view the Grand Canyon and then being told you paid for it but not going to see it…!! We even altered other tours to push this tour an additional day and still never saw the gorge!!😡😡😡

From Cairns it took 2 hours to pick up the other travelers in Port Douglas, but then progressed well. Driver had lots of knowledge about nature, history and geology.

Beautiful waterways & rainforest environments. On the Daintree River cruise thrilled to see 3 large salties on the river bank, another swimming, and a few juveniles. Other animals included a tree snake, Great Egret, & Great Billed Heron. A really enjoyable tour with Joe - our personable and knowledgeable driver.
