Go wild in the Western Cape on this Oudtshoorn overnight safari trip from Cape Town! Travel off the beaten track to get to see South Africa's wildlife and immerse yourself in nature. Visit Botlierskop Reserve - close to the coastal Garden Route region and Buffelsdrift in the heart of the Klein Karoo region - offering the perfect backdrop for an African wildlife experience. This trip offers guided 4x4 drives at two private game reserves; as well as a chance to observe orphaned elephants roaming freely in nature (optional activity with extra costs). You'll overnight at the ostrich capital of the world about 5 hours driving from Cape Town. This tour is led by a local qualified tour guide and game rangers during safaris. Daily drive time: about 4 to 6 hours / in total 900 km distance route. This packed, fast-paced itinerary is filled with many of the best highlights of the region and ideal for the young-at-heart traveller that wants to explore this vast region with limited time available.
Children between 8 and 17 must be accompanied by an adult and book in a private room
Children under 18 years of age are not allowed to book in Dorm room packages

The exact arrival time in Cape Town on day 2 cannot be guaranteed as it is subject to weather and traffic conditions
If you do not have plenty of time in South Africa, this tour is ideal for customers who can't visit Kruger National Park - but Kruger area has a more authentic safari experience indeed.

The tour operator already pre-booked space at all optional activities for the group and you can simply decide on the first day of the tour if you'll partake. Optional activities can only be paid on the tour directly to the supplier. Optional activities are subject to weather conditions and cannot be guaranteed.
Personal comprehensive travel insurance is excluded and recommended
The bush/game drive vehicle used are an especially adopted open-roof converted jeep or truck.
Please do not book a flight for the departure date and/or last day of this tour. Pickup or drop-off times can't be guaranteed and is subject to traffic, season or group's addresses.
Accommodation stay packages will overnight in different properties, each listed in the itinerary. Backpackers are usually far away from guesthouses / lodges.

You can cancel up to 3 days in advance of the experience for a full refund.

For a full refund, you must cancel at least 3 full days before the experience’s start time.
If you cancel less than 3 full days before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
Any changes made less than 3 full days before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.

Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.

Experience beyond expectations

This was a great experience. The safaris were well run, with education/conservation being on point. The accommodations were wonderful and beyond expectations. Denver was an amazing tour guide! He exceeded expectations to ensure we had the best experience possible. His attention to detail was outstanding, even ensuring we had the best guide and seats on the safaris! We saw many beautiful animals and even walked with elephants.

Great Big Picture Experience

We had a great time and saw lots of animals. Gerhard was the best and made it so much more fun!! He was super knowledgeable and helpful and took really good care of us. I think an extra half day at Oudtshoorn would be a good idea, and we did not get the option for the braai dinner, but we saw and learned so much from the guides and all the transitions were seamless. If you don't have the time and ability to do an extended safari and want to get a good idea of African Wildlife, this is the perfect tour!

Our tour guide was very good, and has a lot of Cape Town and S Africa history and stories to share with us. Did not really do the Garden route. We saw a lot of animals during our 2 separate game drives. The Botlierskop game reserve is very nice and has a lot more animals.

To begin with, our tour guide, Monty, responsible for picking us up for the safari and returning us home was fantastic! He was extremely knowledgeable about the regions of South Africa we were driving through and very accomodating for stops and things to do along the way. 5 star service from Monty!! The safari were very well conducted and the guide was very knowledgeable about the animals we were observing. Lots of African game to see and plenty of photo opportunities. I'd give the actual safari a 5 star rating. The overnight accomdations were very nice, I'd give them 5 stars also. Definitely glad that we went on the Safari, excellent value for the experience!

Our guide Maudi was amazing. The tour was one of the highlights of my visit to Cape Town. The ride was long but not boring and uncomfortable. Maudi made several stops so that we could use the restrooms and stretch. Our lunch and souvenir stop was amazing. Everyone in our group bonding and enjoyed the experience. We saw Hippos, Rhino’s, Giraffes, Cheetas, Water Buffalo, Monkeys, Impalas, Jack Rabitt and the mighty Elephants. The time the Elephants was magical Do It. The tent was beautiful and clean with views of the stars that are unbeaten. Diner was amazing, breakfast was simple and our final lunch was great! I highly recommend!

This tour was amazing from start to finish. Although it rained practically the entire 2 days, we saw plenty of animals-- the Big 5 and more! Uriel, our friendly driver, made us feel comfortable, provided a little Cape Town history and left us in the capable hands of well -educated safari guides.

My favorite South African tour!

This was my absolute favorite South African tour after both my trips to Cape Town! We stayed overnight in a yurt by a pond with hippos, so we woke up to the hippos grunting the next morning. We were able to see so many animals in their natural environment, but the giraffes were especially memorable.

2-Day Trip Packed with Discoveries

Tour was very well organised, and the stay at Buffelsdrift was great (try to get a shower under the starry sky!). Reserve guides in both game reserves were really nice and provided loads of information about the animals we saw. In Botlierskop, our guide Neil fought really hard to get us to see a lion sleeping hidden in the bush. The elephant experience in Buffelsdrift was a unique one. Worth mentioning, the drive to the Klein Karoo didn’t feel as long. Our tour guide Gerhard made stops on the way and provided really detailed explanations about the history and nature of the regions/towns that we drove through.
