Spectacular sunset hike with paragliders

It’s an absolutely wonderful hike at sunset. You need to get lucky with the weather over spring time, but for us it was just the perfect time. It was also so much fun watching the paragliders taking off at the hill side. Barry was such a lovely guide and shared all his knowledge about the city and surroundings. I came to Cape Town as a solo traveler, so I didn’t want to hike alone and this was just the perfect solution. I highly recommend it!

Prompt pick up, friendly guide. 3.5 hours round trip from the carpark. The staple and chain sections were great fun, nothing too strenuous, and great pace. We arrived to the top about 10 mins before sunset, lovely views along the way and from the top. Would highly recommend.

Sunset hike up Lions Head

I took a sunset hike up Lions Head to view the sunset from the mountain top. The sunset was mesmerising, terrain a bit challenging at times but the hike was worth the scramble. Sunset melted into the night on the way back and with a bit of moonlight and night lamp lighting the way, city lights to admire, cheerful hikers encouraging each other and expert guidance from my guide I would say that this was an evening well spent.

Amazing Views

This hike (climb) is challenging. The last half of the hike is actually a climb similar to rock climbing. You should be in decent physical condition as you will be required to climb using chains and ladders and pulling yourself up with your hands. The view at the top was spectacular. The descent was also challenging which was compounded by darkness after the sunset. Our tour guide’s assistant was amazing and made us feel safe throughout the hike.

This was a great way for me to get some exercise after a long day of meetings. Nathan was friendly, picked me up on time and adjusted the speed of the hike to how fast I could go. I'd recommend walking shoes or even better boots, but that said we meet some people wearing flip-flops who appeared to make some progress. In any case the hike can easily be cut short because the more difficult bits are further up, and the views are fantastic everywhere.

I booked the Sunrise Lion’s Head Hike from Viator, before I arrived to Cape Town, South Africa. Nathan, the Hike guide, picked me up at the Hilton in Cape Town at 5:20 am.A couple from another Hotel was not ready, Nathan gave them the opportunity to dress and come with us by taking me to pick up a coffee. When we returned to their Hotel, they failed to be ready for the Sunrise Hike. Although Nathan was disappointed, I chose to believe that I would benefit from their absence.Lion’s Head Hike was challenging to me because I am learning not to fear heights. The strenuous climb does not bother me but looking down to see how high I am standing can rattle my nerves. Nathan assured me with a calmness and confidence, like a father telling his nervous child that he or she can do it.I grabbed large metal staples attached to boulders to lift myself up and climb on them like a step ladder, crawled or sat down to maneuver my body on difficult boulders. When we reached the summit, I was amazed with my willingness to follow his guidance even though I was scared. Thank you, Nathan, you are an excellent guide and motivator, I wish you success in your job/ business. I tipped Nathan well to make up for the loss of the other two guests.

I had a great time with my guide on this hike. He was extremely funny and kept the amusement up even when I was a little tired. The tour itself is one not to be missed and doing so at sunset will not let you down. The views are just breathtaking! I would highly recommend booking this tour!

まだツアーは行われていません。料金も返金するのか知らされていません。そもそも楽しみにしていたツアーだったが、迎えの時間や場所の連絡がいっこうになく、メール連絡しても返信ない。viator社にも責任が大だと思う（なぜならば事前アンケートにも連絡がないとメッセージを送るも反応無）。しつこく連絡し前日午後漸く連絡がつき、明日（当日）16:00にホテルに迎えに来ることになり、ほっとした（安心して楽しみにしていた）。ところが当日16:00ホテルロビーで待つも誰も来ず。心配になり、何度か連絡する。漸く連絡がつくと、ガイドが見つからず、本日はキャンセルだと一方的に通告を受ける。良く意味が分からず、私は放心状態となった。こんなこと生まれて経験したことがないので、まだ信じられない。人としても社会人としてもビジネスマンとしても有り得ない話。どうしたらこのようなことになるのか、こんな事を放置するツアー、そしてガイド、そして旅行代理店を誰が推薦できようか？いまだにツアー代金及びこの機会損失について会社からのお詫びもない。
