What To Expect

Board the Christchurch Tramway at any of the 17 stops in the city center and journey in style. The restored vintage trams depart regularly and you can use your ticket to hop on and hop off anywhere along the newly extended route.

The circuit starts at Cathedral Junction and travels through Cathedral Square before passing the Avon River, Re:START Mall, and High Street. From here, the tram rejoins a loop and passes by the Canterbury Museum, Hagley Park, Victoria Square, and New Regent Street. Stops include Punting on the Avon and the Christchurch Botanic Gardens.

Hear live commentary on the sights while you learn about the heritage and changing face of Christchurch. Knowledgeable drivers inform you about the city and its local landmarks along the way.

If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.

Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.
This experience requires good weather. If it’s canceled due to poor weather, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund.

This is a wonderful way to get around Christchurch and learn about the city. Our drivers were very knowledgeable and entertaining, also giving us tips of when to see certain attractions. We would highly recommend the Tram as a way to see the city.

We enjoyed the narrative by the driver/guide. Very nice way to see CC highlights. Earthquake Museum and Vets Memorial Arch were favorites. We also commend All for all the friendly volunteers throughout CC that help guide and answer questions

We had Baz as a driver and he was amazing! He’s retired and only works 2 days a week but if you have him as your driver, you will be entertained the whole way. Very informative and humourous and his city pride comes out loud and clear. Do the whole 50 min tour and then decide what stops you want to return to.

Waiting for a tram that only ever came full and therefore we couldn't get on. We then walked through to several of the stops where the pattern repeated. A waste of money.

This is a pleasant way how to learn about the centre of Christchurch, especially when combining with walks. The staff is very attentive and provides a lot of information. However, for those who wish to make only one circle it is rather expensive.

Some of the tram drivers were very interesting with local history, others could not be heard. The tram stops were barely one minute apart meaning that you could walk most of the way easily without needing a tram. The entire route could be walked in less than one hour. Better to walk.

Great team ride through the city. The guide was extremely informative and funny which made it extra wonderful. The price at the station is the same as viator. They sell the tickets as you wait in line.

A great experience overall riding these lovely trams in Christchurch! Our 3yr old enjoyed it very much. Be aware for those travelling with young kids only some of the trams can take a pram. We found a carrier easier for the baby. The commentary and routes were informative and would recommend to anyone, especially when short of time to see several of the sights in Christchurch
