What To Expect
Indulge in a half day of wine tasting along the Waipara wine trail, renowned for its warm, dry climate and limestone-rich soils — ideal for growing the premium quality grapes that produce some of New Zealand’s most distinctive wine.
Following pickup by coach from your centrally located hotel in Christchurch, your guide takes you on a 40-minute drive to Waipara, one of the South Island’s burgeoning wine regions. Visit cellars and tasting rooms during guided tours of three boutique vineyards in North Canterbury, and sample a distinctive selection of both red and white wines (see below).
Enjoy a lunch of fresh, seasonal dishes that pair well with your wine (if option selected) before hotel drop-off in Christchurch.

• Waipara Hills (formerly Mud House): sample award-winning pinot gris and riesling along with other varietals at the Cellar Door
• Pegasus Bay Winery: discover sustainable viticulture used to bring out the complex flavors and fruit character of the wines
• Torlesse Wines: based in Waipara Village, it prides itself on hand-crafted wines, including gold-medal Torlesse Gewürztraminer and Waipara sauvignon blanc
• Waipara Springs Winery: the 64-acre (26-hectare) vineyard grows a range of varietals for their Waipara Springs and Premo labels; visit the Southern Boundary Wines Cellar Door to sample older vintages

Had a great tour of 3 Wineries. The driver (Scott) was really friendly and gave helpful context of the region. It was a fun way to spend an afternoon and appreciate wines that we don’t get to taste in our home country.

Great groups, the seco de winery was the best for me, I would only suggest give more Walter in the second and third wineries and the opción for sone food

The company was the highlight. Lunch was generous and tasty. Our host Dianne was lovely, very helpful and informative. The only complaint I have is with the first stop on the tour being a pub with a tasting room tacked on. Given there are so many wineries in the region I think the choice could have been better. Other than that it was a very good day.

They have a sommelier employed who is qualified to provide tastings, as good as any of the local wineries. We only use them however when wineries are unavailable as that is our preference, but not always possible when private fuctions such as weddings and events can make our partner wineries closed to the public. The alternative would have been to cancel the tour.

Having a small group really helped communication between everyone and we were all quite "chatty" by the end of the tour. Lunch at Waipera Springs was lovely and all the PR people were very knowledgeable.

Disappointed that we only were able to visit 2 wineries on this tour. The first one was informative about their wine and process for making the wine. The second one was the total opposite. No or very little information on the wines we tasted. Basically she told us what type it was, poured a taste and then left. Coming back only to pour another type.

Yes, it was disappointing that only two wineries were available on you day of travel. One of the wineries we had booked had to close due to a medical emergency. The reviewer was advised that this was the case prior to the tour commencing and were offered the opportunity to cancel or if they did travel a complimentary glass of wine with their lunch. These were very unusual circumstances as you will see from the other reviews that have been posted.
