More fun than expected!

This ended up being more fun than our girls group expected! The bikes were clean and in good condition. They go pretty fast too! They were a fun casual way to check things out at our own pace. They came with locks so we could park and do something for a while. Definitely a reasonably priced cruise excursion that was fun and everyone enjoyed.

Riding the bikes was great once we found out how to get to them. We were on a Carnival cruise. You have to walk out of the port gate, walk a few blocks straight ahead, and the bike rental will be on your left. It was a little scary at first walking in Mexico and not knowing where to go. They had a sign out front with our names on it. The bikes were in very good condition. You could choose to use the motor, or turn it off and ride it like a normal bike. We rode our bikes a couple miles to the beach, and where all the shops are. If you go to the shops in Costa Maya, be prepared for at least 100 people to try to get you in their shop to buy stuff. It was very overwhelming and annoying. It’s a beautiful place, but not a peaceful bike ride. The bike rental place was great though. They gave us all bottled water before and after our ride and also a map. Wear sunscreen!!! The sun is brutal out there lol

Very Disappointed and Unsafe

We own 2 e-bikes so we thought this would be a great shore excursion from the cruise port. The bikes were in bad condition. The handlebars did not align to the tire, the pedal-assist had been disabled, and electrical tape was used to hold the light in place (notice that one of the headlights is taped sideways! We decided to take them anyway and after we were headed to the beach, we discovered that one of the them essentially had no brakes. Due to this my wife fell because she couldn't use her brakes and skinned herself up pretty bad (which meant going in the ocean was out of the question). We decided to just head back and my bike's battery gave up, which meant I had to hard pedal the rest of the way back. Mind you, we were gone for 1 hour so the 5-6 hours of battery that we were told was very incorrect. Very disappointed.

We had a wonderful time! The e bikes were ready for us when we arrived, functional and held up well on the bumpy roads. Our brakes were a little worn out, but we were still able to stop.

This was so much fun! Easy to find the bikes once we walked out of the port. Raul set us up and gave us a quick overview. Super laid back and beautiful ride down the beach strip. Some pot holes/ rough roads but that was completely expected. Thank you so much for a great day!!!

Fun bike ride

Bikes were waiting for us when we arrived at the pick up location. It was about 5minutes easy walk to the pick up location. Bikes worked fine but they were well used and bit tired looking. Some roads are very bumpy especially if you go out side of tourists area.

Pick up location, a 5 minute walk from the cruise port, was easy to find. Directions for the 10 minute ride to beautiful Mahahual were clear and simple. Riding e-bikes the length of the pedestrian beach boardwalk was really fun, stopping at several locations along the way for shopping, dining and swimming.

Nice to be able to visit all the many places in Costa Maya without having to walk or hail a cab. Made our own schedule. Plenty of places to park the bikes and they did come with a lock and a helmet if you want one. Only complaint was the grease on the seat stem. I kept getting it on my hands and the cuffs of my shorts when I was riding. Looks like I will be able to get it out of the clothes, but they were brand new shorts, so it was not a pleasant discovery.Otherwise, great service.

This was so much fun!!! Raul was very nice when we arrived to pick up our eBikes. It was a small walk to get outside the port area then straight ahead on your left at the roundabout. The ebikes are in good shape but do not expect anything brand new. I read a lot of reviews before deciding on these and people appeared to have high expectations that are unreasonable, haha. They are so sturdy and get you where you need to go. The ebikes even have a map on the back of the basket! We are so happy we rented these instead of getting a taxi or golf cart. We will definitely be returning on our next trip.

Our group had reserved a total of 9 electric bikes through Viator. When we arrived there were 5 bikes sitting in front of the location. They had to borrow the other bikes from a neighboring electric bike vendor. The bikes that they rent are not the caliber of what you would rent in the US. The seats were extremely uncomfortable. It was nice being able to go and experience costa Maya without renting a taxi or shuttle but when my battery died about 5 miles from port, my husband had to push most of the way back.
