Overview
Discover Mexico's ancient Mayan history and beautiful landscapes during this shore excursion from the Costa Maya dock. First, head to the Chacchoben archaeological site for a guided tour of the ancient Mayan site that dates back to 200 BC. Then, head to Bacalar Lagoon, famous for its colorful waters, and enjoy time to swim, sunbathe, or even kayak.

Your tour will depart one hour after your cruise docks, starting from the conveniently located Plaza Las Fuentes, just outside the Port. Please consider the total time to walk from your cruise to the excursion office is about 15 minutes.

Cancellation Policy
You can cancel up to 24 hours in advance of the experience for a full refund.
- For a full refund, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the experience’s start time.
- If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
- Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.
- Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.
- This experience requires a minimum number of travelers. If it’s canceled because the minimum isn’t met, you’ll be offered a different date/experience or a full refund.

My family of 6 enjoyed this experience and would highly recommend to all. Chacchoben Mayan City was very interesting. The Lagoon with lunch was excellent. Food and drinks were plentiful and very tasty!!! Enjoy yourselves with this Tour!

If not for our awesome tour guide , David, I would give this a 1 star. Our booking apparently got canceled , without letting us know. And yet Viator sent us a confirmation and got my money!
Thankfully the guys at Native Choice were able to get us an alternative tour which turned out good. But Viator and their provider have to get their acts together! will think twice before using Viator for future activities.

Excellent tour. Driver was Oswaldo and guide was Eddar (hope it's close.) He was very knowledgeable of the area. Talked most of the way to the ruins sharing what he knows. He was very excited that we were the first visitors of the day. By the time we came out it was very packed. Bacalar Lagoon was beautiful water. Not what I was expecting as it's an inland lake with freshwater at a resort that closed during covid. They had plenty of taco's, drinks, beach chairs and water toys for everyone. Book this tour, much more personal than anything the cruise line has to offer.

Eric was the best guide! He had personal knowledge and historical information, and shared with us, as well as the best directions to walk in, and how to avoid the crowds. He was so polite and helpful, answering our questions. He introduced us to all the other people at the lagoon, and even acted as our waiter.

Ruins were super neat. Our guide did a great job of giving us plenty of time to see everything, but nnot lingering too long either. The lagoon was beautiful, like out of a movie or travel ad. Definitely wish we had more time there. Would even do an excursion just to the lagoon.
