After disembarking your ship proceed to find the parking lot. There we have transportation with our logo and one of our drivers can take you to our office. Oh, if you like, you can go directly to our office, we are outside the port, one block ahead on the left side of the Mayan Pyramid replica.

Our excursions start half an hour after your ship docks. The meeting point is in the parking lot of the port, where there are large buses, taxis and golf carts. There we have a shuttle that can bring you directly to our office. Just ask for Toucan Tours.
What To Expect
Make your way to the meeting place, just one block away from the Costa Maya Port at Mahahual, where you will board an air-conditioned vehicle with bottled water and soft drinks for the ride to Chacchoben. Dating to 200 BC, Chacchoben is one of the least explored Mayan sites in Mexico.
At the archeological site, you’ll have around 1.5 hours to walk around to see the important structures and temples at the site, with a licensed guide to provide more background information and deeper insights on the ruins, Mayan culture, and the flora and fauna in the surrounding jungle.
On the way back, you’ll have the option to spend time at a beach club with amenities at Playa Mahahual before being dropped off near the cruise port.

I would definitely use this company again and recommend them to anyone. Everyone was very friendly, showed us around and had great info. You get a free drink while waiting for your air conditioned ride to your destination. Carlos was one of our guides and made a great stop for us to buy fresh mangos and pineapples from a local vendor vs the main tourist area.

You do have to leave the port to the transport area for a driver to shuttle you to the tour station. I wish the time frames were more defined, we felt rushed to get off the ship but then waited for a tour guide to take us to the temples.
Also knowledge that the gift shop at the temples was cash only would have been beneficial as we had used cards for most other excursions.
Our guide, Carlos, had to leave us at the end of the tour to take another tour, so he did not complete the tour with us. This was no fault of a very knowledgeable guide but seemed staffing from the company was short.
Now that all the negatives are out of the way, GREAT overall experience! The temples were AMAZING! Lots of picture opportunities. Price was reasonable in cost and excelled in value. Our entire group was four couples so the guide was as able to answer all questions and be heard by all as opposed to the large bus tours organized by the ships.
Lastly Costa Maya was our least favorite port. The port itself is a textbook tourist trap and designed to usher you past every shop of repeated overpriced items. Outside the port the is nothing but abject poverty, no additional shops.
Now that I know what to expect, where to go, and departure times I would not hesitate to book with Tuscan tours again.

Our guide Carlos was excellent. He was extremely knowledgeable. The drive to the ruins is long, about 45 mins and all throughout the ride Carlos was sharing all about the Mayan culture and answering our questions about Costa Maya. We did not went to the beach(by choice) so because of that, the actual tour of the ruins is very short compared to the ride to get there. Apart from that, I would 100% recommend. They also offer you drinks before the tour which is a nice touch

A great experience with an amazing and knowledgeable guide. We were even able to see monkeys in the trees and climb to the top of the ruins.

It was a great tour, but we were unable to do the beach break due to time. That’s only reason for 4 stars.

The tour was conducted by guides that knew the area and shared interesting information. It was a small group so no overcrowding. They allowed time to explore. You can climb up a little ways on the ruins so that was fun. The monkeys were fun to watch swinging in the trees. They provided water and ac van/bus. We enjoyed it.

The ruins are wonderful and our tour guide was engaging and fairly knowledgeable. The van was comfortable. The beach area was expensive and limited, but the water was beautiful.

Very loooong walking tour.....& Long drive in bus.
Location was well groomed, and clean
Our TourGuide was very knowledgeable about the Ruins as well as the culture.
Overall, though, it was anticlimactic at best.

The guide was amazing, most of our tour was bilingual which was even better because we got the tour in English and Spanish. He Was very knowledgeable and entertaining

Did not get to take it. Meeting point was too far from the ship….took a lot of asking where the way is to port exit. 40 minutes of walking and have not seen it. They should assign someone by the entrance from cruise ship to guide. We are so disappointed and wasted my miney.
