        I'm still mesmerized by the views from the train ride along the Urumbamba River to our final view of Machu Picchu. It was an incredible experience and I'm so grateful we did it. Roy was our guide and he was incredible. He generously shared his historical and cultural knowledge. We all learned a great deal. He took some great photos of us too. The other members of the team were also fantastic. The transfers and train rides were seamless.

        Incredible experience

        Our tour guide Rony was absolutely amazing, and our driver Carlos was incredible. It’s an early start to the day, but they provide ample opportunities for bathroom breaks and to get breakfast. I would recommend waiting a full day in Cusco to acclimate to the elevation before doing this tour. Tony was great and we took breaks during the ascent so it made it easy and he took his time with us.
        Visit Machu Picchu with all the details taken care of!

        From the moment we were picked up, we were impressed with the level of professionalism with all of the staff. The journey to Machu Picchu from Cusco is admittedly long and can be complicated since you’re taking multiples means of transportation, but the instructions given were very clear and the transitions were seamless. It’s a very long day so I’d recommend buying snacks the day before to bring with you. Our guide at the site, Javier, was enthusiastic, knowledgeable and fun and took many pictures of each group in multiple areas. We returned to Aguas Calientes (the town below Machu Picchu) around 12:30pm and our train didn’t depart until 5:20pm so we had a lot of time to kill, which was our only criticism. Otherwise, a great experience!

        Our guide, Roy, was funny, knowledgable, and patient. Absolutely awe inspiring experience. Pictures just don't convey the scale of Machu Picchu. The climbing was reasonable. The views were unforgettable. The other people we met that day on the tour were also a lot of fun.

        We had an AMAZING time on this tour of Machu Picchu. The pick up and drop off were so easy, the train rides were fabulous and most importantly, the tour of Machu Picchu was unforgettable.         The guide was very knowledgeable, and passionate about protecting Machu Picchu heritage. This place is a must for any ones bucket list. this place is mesmerizing. It's a long day from Cusco, but well worth it.

        Guides and people were nice. However, logistically, Viator failed. Two other trips in Cusco were awesome. 1. The reason why I chose Viator was my past great experiences in France and other places. I couldn’t book the Machu Picchu time/date I wanted on my own as they were sold out on the Peru govt sites, thus I chose Viator because they had what I was looking for. THEN, the night before trip, the time of departure was changed by 1 hr, 20 minutes. How could this be when Machu Picchu is based on strict timed entries? Viator cited “weather”. However, it’s to be efficient and cost effective for YOUR needs, NOT MINE! 2. Our travel guide Javier DID NOT meet us at train station as directed. He subbed it out to a few females who placed us in the shuttle line. Ok, if he was tied up on another tour, why not have some transparency and give us the shuttle tickets and we meet him topside? Instead he was doing sneaky stuff to either save himself a trip up/down the mountain or to finish up a prior tour. Both us and the other couple had to separately reach out to the bigger boss, (Ronny), who had to reach Javier so he could get one of his girls to finally give us the shuttle tickets. Upon arrival at top, I did not appreciate his snide remarks. After that, his tour was excellent as he was a subject matter expert. However, initially not having shuttle tickets and being in limbo and not knowing what was going on, was very annoying. 3. After a long day, train and then tour bus back to Cusco, a car service driver met us in Cusco. However, we had to wait for the other couple to arrive in Cusco so he could cram all 4 of us in his little Toyota. We had separate pickups in the morning departing from separate hotels. Again, not a good way to end a trip to cram strangers in the same LITTLE car. Either give us separate cars back or have a van. Total garbage move. We paid over $700 for two people for the entire day. That’s a lot of money for us not to have gold star treatment. Disappointed in Viator. I understand it’s a huge volume of people but have some transparency and don’t lie to me, it’s offensive.

        This tour was a very smooth way to see Machu Picchu. It was extremely convenient to have pickup, train tickets, site tickets, and guide all included in one package. I appreciated how organized everything was. The company will message you via WhatsApp the day before with a full itinerary of the day, so you know exactly what to expect. Train tickets are distributed on the bus ride to Ollantaytambo station. Our Machu Picchu tour guide, who met us in Aguas Calientes, was excellent.

        The train to take us home was 2 hours late, the vistadome is super tiny and not very exciting to watch, Machu Picchu was great. The operator who booked us used the wrong names so police came after us at the top of machu pichu despite us having the tickets with our name, reservation, payment verification, and passports! Just travel to Aguas Calientes yourself and book a bus up. It will save you time, money, and hassle. The guide who told us the history of machu pichu while there was great. The rest was awful.

        Bucket List Experience Despite The Tour

        Pros: On time pickup from Cusco. Transfers and entry were smooth. Tour had special access to the money photo at the site. Train ride is amazing! Cons: Information required before the trip included a form that did not have an English translation. Even our guide in Bolivia couldn’t believe the form was so impractical and frustrating.. Itinerary was provided at 6pm the night before the tour. Too late in the game to cancel or question. Pickup time was changed from 5am to 3:30 am. Had to wait until all other 7 people were picked up. You cannot sleep between the Cusco pickup and the train station because the road is a disaster. The drive takes about an hour and a half. Barely enough time to find a restroom before boarding the train. Guide had a difficult time conveying things effectively in English. We were not told which route we would walk through the site so we did not see some things like the prison and the temple of the condor. There should have been an option to leave the site immediately or stay for a lunch. We were forced to stay. The guide was somewhat emphatic about going to the restaurant he “suggested “. The guide did not ensure our group boarded the return train. The bus at the train station was parked in and added another level of frustration when we were all tired. Did not arrive at our Cusco hotel until almost 9 pm. In retrospect we should have visited the archeological site at Ollantaytambo. Stayed there overnight then taken the train to Machu Picchu and arranged for a guide to meet us there.

        Hi This tour is expensive but worth every penny! It includes pickup at hotel, transportation to train station, train ride in a great train, a guide and return! There are a lot of moving parts to this excursion and I was glad all the details , permits etc were all taken care of. Roy was exceptional and so professional and knowledgeable and friendly. Make sure you take a raincoat. Also make sure you go to the bathroom before you enter Machu Picchu. There are NO facilities at all!! We were inside area for almost three hours. A very memorable day!
