Overview

Embark on a guided tour of Cusco, the most important city in the Inca Empire and the gateway to Machu Picchu. Begin with an informative walk along its cobbled streets, viewing such landmarks as Koricancha—a revered temple with walls once covered in sheets of gold. Peruse colonial artworks and wander the Plaza del Armas, which remains the heart of the city, before enjoying some free time for lunch. Afterward, set out by private vehicle to visit a few of the area's main archaeological sites, including Sacsayhuaman—a citadel built of massive stones. The last stop on this tour is a visit to a local farmer's market, where you will see fresh vegetables, fruits, cheese, and the local meats (including pig heads). Included in this tour is a professional, English-speaking guide, private transportation, hotel pickup and drop-off, and a guided tour.
  • A private guided walking tour of Cusco
  • Explore the Inca's ancient capital city on foot, learning about its histoy—both before and since Spanish colonization—as you go

We were hesitant about booking this tour, due to the fact that there were only five reviews in total. I am so glad we did! Erica, our tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly and helpful. She picked us up from the hotel and clarified our itinerary. Usually tourists start at the bottom, in Cusco, and end up in Sacsayhuaman instead Erica reversed the order of the five destinations. This way we avoided the crowds. Our five stops were all interesting. I just wish the powers that be would allow us to take photos. Cusco and probably the Peruvian government are very protective of their interior relics and do not allow any photos to be taken inside of buildings. So instead I purchased a booklet of postcards of the artwork of the Cathedral. If you can ask for Erica, do so!!!!! My favorite part of the tour was at the end when we asked Erica for a restaurant recommendation. We said we wanted to have lunch where she would take her family, NOT where tourists would go. I wish I had taken a picture of the menu so I can recommend that restaurant to everyone.
We booked this tour to see the ruins...

We booked this tour to see the ruins around Cusco. We wanted to have a guide that understood the history, and would give us a personalized experience. Our guide did just that. He took us around in an order that seemed to avoid the hoards of tourists. He was very attentive and knowledgeable. We could have spent a little less time in the churches in Cusco, but i'm sire that is personal preference. We had been to the market the day before so we talked him into taking us to the best Peruvian doughnut shop in Cusco. I wish I could remember our guides name because he was fantastic.

Our tour was great! Varnia (? Sorry not sure how to spell her name) was well informed, willing to share her amazing culture and insights. She has a great sense of humour- the tour was fun!

This walking tour is an excellent value with diverse offerings, from the ancient Sacsayhuaman site to the Spanish influences on Cusco's churches and people. We saw and learned about much more than we could have every done on our own. As first-time visitors, the tour gave us a comprehensive snapshot of Cusco and the areas we could visit later on our own. Our tour guide Danny was fantastic! He shared his vast knowledge of the past and evolving cultures of the Cusco with passion and enthusiasm that was contagious! Highly recommend this tour!
Knowledgeable, friendly guide...

Knowledgeable, friendly guide. Learned very much about the Incan empire and Spanish conquest. Heavy downpour of rain cut the tour a little short.
