What To Expect

The two tours must be taken over two consecutive evenings. Choose the order you want to take them after booking.

4x4 Desert Camp Experience (6 hours):After pickup from your central Dubai hotel, travel by comfortable, air-conditioned 4x4 into the desert around the city. On route, gaze out over the sandy plains and dunes, and hear revealing facts about Dubai’s history from your guide, who doubles as your driver.

Then, go off road for a dune bash. Thrill as you plough up and down the ever-shifting sands, before continuing to a Bedouin-style camp in the desert.

Hop out and absorb the beautiful setting with the fairylit tents twinkling in the twilight. Then, choose to enjoy any of the Emirati activities on offer. Take a camel ride, get a henna tattoo painted on your hands, and smoke a shisha (water pipe) if you wish.

Savor a delicious, 3-course barbecue dinner of dishes such as Arabic mezze, lamb chops and coffee and dates. See the Itinerary for a sample menu. Then, as you eat, watch an exotic belly dancing performance as the stars light up the desert sky.

Your experience then finishes with a 4x4 ride and drop-off back at your hotel.

Dhow Dinner Cruise (2 hours):Hop into a minibus at your hotel and head into Deira, one of Dubai’s oldest quarters. Arrive at Dubai Creek and admire your prettily lit dhow, waiting at the pier. Then, be welcomed aboard by the friendly crew to start your cruise.

Enjoy your first views of Deira’s skyline from the water as your dhow slips its mooring, and then enjoy a leisurely two hours of cruising up and down the creek.

As you sail, dig into a generous buffet of Emirati and international dishes (see the Itinerary for a sample menu), such as chicken tikka masala and grilled fish. Wash it down with complimentary sodas and mineral waters, and if you wish, purchase additional drinks from the bar.

Out on deck, relish the evening breezes and snap photos of the passing sights, such as the Deira Twin Towers, Al Maktoum Bridge and windtowers of Bur Dubai, all beautifully reflected in the lapping waters.

Afterward, dock back at the pier and end your experience with a hotel drop-off.

As with all the tours we booked, we were picked up on time by a Toyota Landcruiser 4x4, it took approximately 45 minutes to our destination the sand dunes, we waited until all 4x4 arrived about 17in total, we then spent about 30 minutes racing around the dunes in convoy, which was great fun and very exiting. We were then taken to the nearby desert camp where we experienced a nice meal with free soft drinks and entertainment, to be returned safely to our hotel. The Dhow dinner cruise was a pleasant experience the following evening, which included transport to and from the Dubai Creek and a river cruise with a good dinner and free soft drinks, as we noticed everywhere,alcohol is very expensive in Dubai. On this holiday we planned and booked 5 trips with Viator in 3 different countries, all were value for money, we were picked up on time on each occasion, planning and booking ahead certainly takes the hassle and stress out of the holiday, and I suspect to is cheaper than waiting until you reach your destination. I will use Viator again in the future.

This was a great experience. Just a warning, it's a bit of a car ride out to the desert site. Be prepared for an hour or more drive - once you finally get there, it's a lot of fun. The dinner was very nice, but again, a warning, the boat cruises the creek, not the bay. If you're looking for amazing city views, then you are in the wrong part of the city! Still, it was a nice night out and the food was very good.

We loved both the Desert Camp Experience and the Dhow Dinner Cruise. I really don't think that anyone should leave Dubai without experiencing both of these activities. The Desert Camp Experience was great. The 4x4 ride is a bit wild but really fun. The dinner and entertainment was authentic and enjoyable. The Dhow Dinner Cruise was lovely. A really nice activity - especially if you are looking for a quiet relaxed evening.

This trip could have been better if we had a good driver. Ours was obnoxious from the get-go, he was fussy with bringing my things in his suv. When we reached the desert, the other drivers were bashing the dunes more than our driver, ours was very subtle and was no fun. He also charged more for dropping us back to another part of the city while the tour includes a drop off at a point of our choice. Also, when we had booked for this package we had a dinner cruise, was that a waste of money or what. The cruise was a joke, the food was bad, service was terrible. Overall this package was not worth what we had paid for. There are better companies out there, so try them.

We used the tour on 2 days - first Dinner Cruise and next day 4x4 tour. The Dinner Cruice was slightly below expectations. The ship was nice, however we did not get the chance to choose our seating and we had to share tables with strangers and had to sit inside. Because it was dark and reflections on windows, we didn't see nothing outside. But as the cruise was fully on the river, there was not much to be seen outside also. We expected to see some panoramic view of the city, but this was not possible on the river. However the food was very good. The 4x4 tour however was excellent. Because we were staying in an apartment, they didn't agree to pick us up there and we had to walk to a nearby hotel, but this was not much of a problem. The driver was very nice, spoke fluent english and was very adventurous in the desert. The drive was fun and exciting. The dinner was also very delicious and the bellydance beautiful. As the total price of 2 tours was very good, I still recommend the tour if you like river cruises and fun ride in the desert.

4x4 experience over the dunes is exhilarating tho not for the faint hearted. The food is good and there's a variety if things to do. Belly dancer is just OK seen alot better, traditiobal dacer is good. Place with its facilities is very clean. However, on the way there, after approx 1hour drive, all the vehicles stop at a station where they need to release air from tyres before driving onto sand dunes. You are asked to get out and invite you to use toilet facilities through a pokey old shop......DON'T the toilets are absolutely disgusting and the shop assistants PUSH you to wear bedowin headgear then you to pay, when seeing this I bluntly refused. Our driver hardly spoke to us and when we left we were unfortunate to get stuck in sand. After a long wait we eventually got going again and stopped at perimeter to reinflate tyres. This procedure took nearly an hour, for whatever reason? He didn't speak to us throughout the whole ordeal. We were just unlucky, otherwise we did enjoy the evening.

Would highly recommend the desert safari. My kids were extatic. It's a worthwhile experience. Very well organized. Experienced and skilled driver but not hospitable. The camp dinner was a good layout too. Though the camel ride was rushed over. The Dhow dinner cruise I would not recommend, had to wait over an hour on the boat for all others and kids were hungry. Guest Pick up could have been organized to coincide. The food was regular nothing special in my opinion but well prepared. I suggest it's better to do other Dhow cruises offering entertainment and not just food.
