What To Expect
Hop aboard your comfortable 4x4 in front of your central Dubai hotel in the morning. Settle into the air-conditioned interior and with your driver-guide at the wheel, set off on your journey through the UAE’S stark desert landscapes.
Head toward the UAE-Oman border and Hatta, an old trading settlement with a historical fort and rock pools, nestled high in the craggy Hajar Mountains.
Watch as the terrain shifts from open plains to dunes and rocky mountain slopes, and after roughly two hours on the road, arrive at Hatta Heritage Village.
A recreation of an old mountain hamlet dating back to before the 20th century, the complex comprises dwellings and buildings built from mud, palm leaves, reeds, and stone.
Head inside with your guide to stroll around the houses, mosques, and watchtowers and see the displays of weaponry, handicrafts, and traditional dress that showcase what life was like here until the mid-1900s.
See Hatta Fort as you learn more about the region’s history, and then climb back inside your 4x4 to venture deeper into the desert.
Continue to Jebel Maleihah, otherwise known as Fossil Rock. This large rocky outcrop rears sharply from the sands and gets its nickname from the many ancient marine fossils embedded in its slopes. Hop out to look for these swirling, aeons-old fossils — imprints of shells and tiny marine creatures that lived on the ocean floor when the Arabian Peninsula was covered by the sea millions of years ago.
Then, make your way to nearby Camel Rock. Take snaps of the desert rock formation that resembles a camel, and then return to Dubai where your day trip ends at your hotel.

- Guests visiting the UAE during the Summer months (June – September) are advised that peak daytime temperatures sometimes reach 42 – 45 degrees Celsius. Humidity levels can also exceed 90 percent during this period. We recommend all our guests to take adequate precaution.

- For a full refund, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the experience’s start time.
- If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
- Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.
- Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.

Very nice trip! The driver was very kind, helpful, polite and very informative (he told us about the desert, animals, arab culture, Hatta mountain, etc) I can easily claim that it was his absolute priority to do everything it takes for us to enjoy this trip. First we drove from Dubai to the desert and then continue our trip to the Bee garden (very interesting visit and their selection of authentic honey is amazing - we bought three jars of delicious honey!) and Hatta mountain. The scenery was beautiful (see the pictures), weather was amazing and breakfast very tasty! Definitely recommend!

Our guide was great and everything well Organizer. It was a funny trip in the dessert without any stressful safari riding. Everything calm. Bee‘s , Dam and Hatta hills gave us a wider view of Dubai.

Very nice trip! The driver was very kind, helpful, polite and very informative (he told us about the desert, animals, arab culture, Hatta mountain, etc) I can easily claim that it was his absolute priority to do everything it takes for us to enjoy this trip. First we drove from Dubai to the desert and then continue our trip to the Bee garden (very interesting visit and their selection of authentic honey is amazing - we bought three jars of delicious honey!) and Hatta mountain. The scenery was beautiful (see the pictures), weather was amazing and breakfast very tasty! Definitely recommend!

It is a little hard to grade this trip as I will explain later. We had an excellent guide and were kept well informed about pick up. The trip across the desert was interesting and our guide pointed out various interesting plants. We felt no need for 'sand bashing' and asked him to drive slowly so we could see and experience the early morning desert, he was happy to do as we asked though it was a pretty bumpy ride anyway! Breakfast was good, a lovely spot, clean and litter free. We were able to watch birds and see some desert plants. We then went on to the bee farm. It seems a bit of an odd option and we felt it might be just a 'filler' to break the trip to Hatta. It was actually very interesting with a very professional and in depth tour, followed, of course, by the opportunity to buy. We did shop as it seemed a worthwhile enterprise. A quick stop at the Hatta dam and then on to Hatta Heritage village which is where the problems arose. While we were admitted, everything was locked up and apart from wandering round the outside there was nothing to see, all the exhibits and rooms were padlocked, all we could see were courtyards. Our guide was surprised and was told on asking that there was a staff shortage, he was very apologetic. As this was a significant part of the tour we asked for a partial refund but Orient Tours refused. The small print says that they reserve the right to cancel parts of the tour but they did not do this and insisted that the village was open. I suppose if being allowed through the entrance counts as open then they are technically correct but even when we sent pictures of padlocked doors they insisted that the village was open. In the end Viator stepped in and kindly offered a partial refund for the missed part of the tour. So in conclusion, this is a good tour, especially if you actually get to see Hatta heritage Village properly, the guide was excellent but we cannot recommend Orient Tours, so maybe look for a different company offering this.

We love to read that you have enjoyed the tour with the lovely breakfast set-up in midst the dunes and the honey bee farm was so much more of value to you as you had initially expected. We regret that Heritage Village was partly keeping some rooms closed. We had spoken to them after having received your feedback to make sure our tour offers to our valuable clients what we promise. They reconfirmed us that they are open but some rooms are kept closed for maintenance. The overall experience was not affected. Our guide had also offered you to go up to the watcher tower, but you felt too hot to walk there.
We have had a lot of other bookings for your tour as well and have not received any similar feedback in regards to the Heritage Village.

The Hatta tour was very good, and the driver/guide was very friendly and informative. Unfortunately the dam was closed for maintenance, As an alternative we visited a camel farm, which was very jnteresting. Loved the driving through real desert with breakfast which was a fantastic experience, and would have liked to have seen more even more desert. Overall a really good excursion to experience other areas and scenery of Dubai.

Our guide was really friendly and knowledgeable and made sure that we really enjoyed our day. We traversed four emirates in a day so really got a sense of life for Emiratis outside of the big cities. The dunes, desert rocks and breakfast under a tree were real highlights. Hatta Heritage Village itself needs a bit of TLC and not ideal if you don't like plastic human figures! but had some interesting exhibits. Many thanks to Mustafa for being a fantastic guide and making sure we came away with some amazing pictures!

We did this trip about 18 months ago. However we still recall it as a very useful and memorable trip. A great chance to get out of Dubai and see the real culture of the Emirates.

We were more interested in the heritage than the dune bashing and decided on the Heritage Hatta Tour. The driver picked us up on time from the hotel in his luxury air conditioned car which is a must for the terrain and outside temperature. We were interested in knowing more about the culture and day to day activities and living conditions, but the driver was not forthcoming with much information at all. Still the journey through some very scenic country with a surreal mountainous area in the middle of the desert is worth the drive. Once at Hatta, a small town in the middle of nowhere which is having a beautiful transformation, it is short time to the Hatta Villiage. This small example of how village life used to be is having it's own maintenance upgrade which appears to be overdue. The tower which is the centre piece needs to be prioritized with directional signage and remedial repairs.If going to The Hatta Village you need at least 1 hour to explore. The Gift Shop work. Once completed we travel to the desert wher we have a simple but enjoyable lunch on a blanket on the sand under a tree. The driver does not join us and sit in the vehicle waiting for us to finish. Once lunch is over we travel up and down over dunes taking many photogaphs of the amazing landscape, then it's back on the highway and back to our hotel in 5 hours. It's a good trip to see the very scenic landscape outside of Dubai.

Trip started with the hatta tour. The place was serene and beautiful. The visit to the cultural village was educational. There was no mountain trail off road as depicted in the given picture.
None the less, the driver stopped at picturesque sites for photo-taking
The 2nd half was the trip to the desert. The dune bashing was rough but fun and thrilling. The driver was very skillful. Overall it was a pleasant trip.
