What To Expect

Meet your guide on the steps of Sant'Ambrogio Church. Then, eat your way through Florence, trying food beloved by locals as recommended by your in-the-know guide. In between stops, visit cultural gems you might miss on your own.

Your first stops are the Mercato di Sant’Ambrogio, an indoor market, and Nerdi Orafi Firenze, an artisan goldsmith. Stop at the rustic Buca dell'Orafo restaurant to sample your guide's favorite dishes.

Cross the Ponte Vecchio and sample local wines along the way. Head to the Oltrarno neighborhood, where you explore the narrow streets and artisan workshops, and try more local specialties.

Next, visit Piazza Santo Spirito, home of a morning fruit and vegetable market.

Knowledgeable and friendly tour guide

Our tour guide, Giorgio, was very informative and provided excellent guidance on the food and the area. He is very knowledgeable about the history of Florence and was able to communicate many interesting facts throughout the tour.

Not what was described. Disappointing.

We've been very happy with other Viator experiences, including a tasting tour in Rome in 201, where we went to many different establishments and tasted a variety of foods. In Florence we signed up for 6 tastings. The guide took us to one establishments--where we were served 4 fried food balls (barely edible)--we took a tiny bite of each--and then proposed taking us to another place for gelato and an espresso. We chose not to continue with him. We thought we'd be going to 6 places, not two, and sampling a variety of foods. The guide was nice, but this was NOT a good tour from Viator. Would not recommend!

More than an experience.

Our guide Axel provided a very enjoyable experience. It is well worth travelling with locals. Not only do you get to great places for the tour but you get great tips for your time in Firenze. Thanks Axel for a great evening.

Disappointed..

I did an appointment for 6 tastings but ended up 3 locations - fried snacks, prosciutto sandwiches, and gelato. I didn’t feel quite satisfied with the program, although the locations were good for what they provide. I feel it’s not worth the price.

We did our tour with Giorgio and it was a fabulous experience! The food was amazing and we enjoyed learning more about Florence, as Giorgio is very knowledgeable on it’s history and culture. We did the six tasting option and it was the perfect amount of time and food for us!

Alessandra was our guide. Right away we felt as if she was a friend of ours. Easy going and checks on what you're looking for. We enjoyed her explanations of food, daily traditions, and how things connected to the history of Florence. We had a great time and we'll seek her out again next time we're there for sure.

Had an amazing time with Christy. I ended up with a one on one tour with her which was great. Macchiato, breakfast sandwich with fried dough, prosciutto and cheese sauce, cantucci, panini with porchetta, truffle and cheese, glass of vermentino, and gelato. All at a nice pace and learned a lot about the city as we walked and talked. I highly recommend

Weak tour with unenthusiastic guide

I’m sorry but I’ve done dozens of outings thru Viator thru the years and this was not up to par in any way. Giorgio was a relatively unenthusiastic guide, the food stops were mediocre, and the market wasn’t open (it was Sunday). If the market and many of the “good” places are closed, the tour shouldn’t be offered. Most of my experiences thru Viator have been very good. But the his one missed the mark.

Experience Florence bite by bite!

My husband, our friend, and I joined Matteo on the food walking tour of Florence. He was accommodating to my restriction of no pork. We had so many wonderful stops! We also learned history and information about Florence along the walk. We started with special treats for Carnival and an Aperol Spritz. Then we stopped for meats - I had a beef goulash on toast with a glass of rose. My husband and friend had salami, mortdella, and porchetta with bread. Then we stopped for coccoli, mine with truffles and cheese, and the guys had prosciutto and cheese. Next, it was lampredetto which we actually enjoyed! After, we went to a fancy wine cellar and tried white Tuscan wine in a beautiful space with truffle sandwiches, toast with cheese, pickled cauliflower, and egg, and bresaola. Not far away, we entered a tiny space and went downstairs to a hidden restaurant. With a glass of chianti, we tried eggplant parmesan with polenta fries, lasagna, and ribolita soup. Next it was off to a local wine bar for a tasting. We started with rose, then a reserve chianti and finally a grand selection chianti. The final stopw as for gelato, which was a nice way to end the night. Matteo was very generous with his time and also both humble and funny. We highly recommend this tour!

My daughter (18 yo) and I booked a private tour. Our guide, Alessandra, provided a wonderful and highly customized food/history/shopping tour. Our guide was charming, knowledgeable and made us feel like old friends. The three hour tour flew by in the blink of an eye. Best tour we’ve been on.
