Overview

This short cooking class, tailored to beginners, introduces you to the specialties of the country's three regions (north, south, and central), as well as spectacular fruit carving techniques. Morning and afternoon courses include a visit to Ben Thanh Market, but evening courses are shorter and omit the market tour.

Simple Vietnamese Cooking Class

We (four of us) were met by the chef at Benh Than market. Meeting point was easy to find as our hotel is nearby. From there, we walked around the market and was introduced to the different types of vegetables, spices and food. Chef then got a taxi and brought us to the class venue which was in fact her residence. Residence is small but cosy and clean. Taught us simple carrot carving and how to prepare three dishes. We ate our own dishes and that's a lot to eat - nice. Chef is a nice and friendly lady and we did enjoy ourselves at the class. I have only two points: recipes given to us includes a chocolate dessert but we were given a slice of pineapple to cut into a pattern instead. ok that's still fine. At the end of the class we received a certificate, recipes and a painted fan. Did not know we were expected to go back on our own as the booking said that we will be sent back to the meeting place. Luckily, I have a Grab app and could grab back to hotel on my own. So perhaps others should also download a Grab app for such exigencies.

Vietnamese cooking

My daughter and I were taught traditional Vietnamese cooking of a complete meal. Our instructor spoke good English, was very organized with kitchen help and family. We had a lovely meal, received certificates, and a beautiful booklet with the recipes. I highly recommend this course!

Good instruction and food was excellent. Description says hotel pick- up and confirmation said so as well, but none was provided.

Dear Naomi, Thank you very much for rating us. We would like to clarify regarding pick-up service. Pick up is happened only once: from hotel or from market. From hotel: the pick up is from booking in the afternoon or in the evening, as there is no market visit. All food stalls/ shops are closed from 12.00pm. From Market: The pick up is from market to cooking class as the program is started by a market tour first, before heading to cooking class. Very nice half day to learn how to cook some local dished. Unfortunately,the market travel was canceled and I was the only one on the course due to the coronavirus breakout ,but they still continue my class. The cooking room is very clean and chef is very friendly and provided clearly step by step instruction,I have a good lunch for my own cooking food. Thanks to the chef and staffs.Hope things will improve soon, would definitely recommend it for anyone who are visiting HCM.

Travelling through different countries my wife and I have taken a few different cooking classes but this was by far the best one we have done. The market tour was excellent, and little extra personal touches makes this a must. Quite frankly it was an amazing day and if I was staying longer I would have gone again.
