Find out what's it's like to be a ninja. This small-group beginners class in a Kyoto dojo introduces you to the basics of ninja training. You'll learn how to breathe, walk, and meditate like a ninja; practice throwing ninja weapons; and learn how to use ninja swords. It's a unique Japanese experience for all ages.

Great Experience

We (husband & I) had a 1 hr session and were paired with a family. It was a fun experience and would recommend for family’s even with small children. Highlight of Kyoto.

My husband and I did this lesson with my 7 year-old son and my 70 year old mum - and we all loved it. We learned heaps. We got to practise being a ninja and learn how to use real ninja weapons. My son was enamoured, and said it was the highlight of his trip. Highly recommend

What a wonderful activity with the kids! We had 4 adults and 4 children ranging from 5-8 and everyone had a blast! It was the perfect mix of cultural, education and some fun for everyone. Highly recommend for people wanting to try something a bit different

This was a fun hands on lesson in Kyoto. Thank you so much!!! Includes free pictures and videos. Option to buy souvenirs. Cons: Only 1 hour, time runs fast when learning about Ninja techniques and tools.

I had no idea what to expect but it was a wonderful, condensed Ninja course that gave an actual appreciation of who Ninjas are, what they do (and how they differ from Samurais), and a bit of how they do it! Loved trying out simple skills like stealth walking, sword play, star throws and blow darts!! It was lots of fun and the Sensei was terrific. We were a small group of 6 so it never felt crowded and we all got along and cheered for each other.

I expected it to be fun, but did not expect it to be so informative and funny. Our ninja sensei Chihiro was amazing. We got to learn about practices, techniques and weapons. We also got to throw shuriken and blow darts. All in all, I would recommend for kids AND adults alike, we all had a blast.

We first took this class back in 2019 as a couple and enjoyed it so much that we returned in 2024 along with our daughter. We learned so much and our sensei made the whole class so fun and informative. We were able to try out throwing shuriken and blowing darts. Highly recommended!

Expected gimmicky & touristy, but this was a really fun way to spend an hour. The teacher was patient and funny and great with the children. Everyone said they'd do it again!

This experience was fun for the whole family. Our instructor was knowledgeable and spoke English very well. The assortment of weapons was fascinating and shopping for our own imitation swords afterwards was great.

I did this with my 13 year old son, as we thought it would appeal more than shrines and temples! Thankfully, I was right, but I enjoyed it too. We gained an understanding of what ninjas were and the techniques and tools they used. It was informative and the right balance of educational and fun. I would recommend it for anyone (you don’t have to be 13!).

One of our favorite experiences in Kyoto. We all had a good time. Both the young lady and the Sensai were very nice and informative. It ended up being a lesson just for the four of us. My teens say they would 100 % recommend to their friends!
