      Wonderful experience

      While there are many tea experiences in Kyoto, none were available at the time we were going. This tea room added a time slot for us. I am so appreciative that they did because it was such a great experience. Kaori educated us about matcha and the process of correctly making the tea. We each got to make a cup and there were sweets to have at the start. Leave time to get to the location because it is a bit tricky to find.

      The tea ceremony was very calming and relaxing our guide gave us great explanation and was very patient with us. It was in a lovely old traditional Japanese house with a lovely garden. Would definately recommend to any visitor to Kyoto.

      It was a very nice experience and very good value for the money we paid. The lady was so polite and she explained everything very well in detailed. The house is a real Japanese house and the decoration was perfect. It is definitely worth of it. I strongly recommend.

      This tea ceremony was a total joke. They spent more time showing us how to take our shoes off than anything to do with tea. We all agreed we would like our money back. DO NOT waste your time.
      Pleasant ceremony and tasting with English-speaking hostess

      Overall an interesting and pleasurable experience. The house this was hosted in was very central, so highly convenient. When we went in, there was a sign explaining to take off your shoes, wait here for your tour, some explanation about the types of teas and their background, etc, and when the hostess (Kaori, I think) arrived, she spoke good English and was very pleasant and lovely. She took us through a couple of rooms in the house and the inner garden, showed us the proper way to kneel and step inside, and we began the ceremony. She talked us through each step, so it was interesting to understand the meaning behind all the movements and rituals; we had seen a ceremony before at the Gion theatre which did not give much explanation or background. We also enjoyed that this was not just a tasting, but also a lesson in how to make traditional matcha yourself. The ceremony is typically done kneeling, but small stools were provided for those who were not able to kneel, and Kaori was disposed to make the matcha for anyone who wasn't able to do it themselves (the house itself is not wheelchair-accessible though as they have some small steps). We finished in time with a group of 9. The value (about 24-25€/pp) was perhaps a bit high for the amount of time, but we had a pleasant time and enjoyed the activity.

      Nos pareció bastante genuino, entramos en una casa privada, la mujer que nos guiaba iba vestida tradicional, bastante bien. Pero un poco escaso por el precio.
