Treasured Keepsake
Fay_N, Apr 2024
I purchased this for my friends' (couple) first trip to Japan. They said they will treasure this photos. Incase especially grateful to the staff for suggesting Gion Komori for a location to take pictures. It was close to walk to, and the location was simply beautiful!!!
Feeling like a Japanese

It was a memorable and interesting experience to feel like a Japanese. The rental place has a lot of choices.
Makes for great pictures!

I went into this thinking that it was a touristy thing, but there were a lot of locals who appeared to be in Wedding parties. That said, the kimonos get pretty nice, but that is not what your reservation gets you. When we went, for my reservation, I had about a dozen kimonos to choose from. They were nice, but kind of plain. The photo they have in the advertisement is pretty accurate. I am also a big guy, so that is what they had that would fit me. To get the "samurai" kimono, there was a bit of an upcharge, like 150%. I have to note, none of the other customers, that I saw, went this route. My wife had a similar experience, not because of fit, but because she wanted something nicer. She looked really great. We got a lot of compliments from tourists and locals alike. Out the door, I had to pay an extra 150% of the original booking. Be forewarned. They recommended the upgrade, but they weren't pushy about it. Fitting went smooth. They allowed us in early, and got us fitted in about an hour. It was a Saturday, so as we were leaving, they said they were closing at 5:30, so please be back before 5:00. I don't think that was in the original schedule. Be warned, the real deal kimono is several layers of clothing, and can get hot...and the sandals are not very comfortable for long walks.

The taxi brought us to the address. But what we found was a kimono shop on the Ground Floor. Our name was not included in the List. The name included in our time slot is Rosario Castro with 5 other friends. There was no 5th floor rental kimono . We did see the Yasaka Shrine on our right beside a temple entrance. Next time you should provide a picture of the building shop or a better map. We ended doing the rental w/ another shop. and paid Y 3,000 each with no reservation
Kimono Rental

Located on the 5th floor. You will be offered standard options for Kimonos, they’re more options for an additional fee. Additional fee for hair makeup. Return rental by 5pm. Very nice staff. Sandals for male size EU45 and 1.86cm tall.

It took more than hour to be done and it was a bit chaotic. Would not recommend as it is not a good value for the money.
Fun dressing up
Joe_M, Mar 2024
We enjoyed our experience. Yes, in the price you only have a set number of Kimonos (25) to choose from but that was fine. All still lovely colours and if you want you can pay more for more choice but I couldn’t see a huge difference and I really loved the one I chose. Definitely worth doing! We loved it
Cute kimono experience
Lydia_W, Nov 2023
The experience of wearing Japanese kimono was very nice and we both looked cute in our kimonos! However, we had to wait for quite a bit for some part of the process (recommended 30mins but it was longer than 1 hour) despite the fact that we had a time slot booked. Some of the staff were very helpful and friendly (more so than others). The booking fee only allows your the pick the basic range of kimonos (4000-5000 yen range) and the next level up is 7000 and it goes higher.
Wonderful experience!
Luke_H, Nov 2023
Had a great time and the staff was wonderful! Got in and out in about an hour. We got there a little early, but they checked us in anyway.
Good value would use again
Diana_F, Nov 2023
Worth booking online before going, better value, and get better price with hair and make up too. Outfits are really nice, very efficient get tou dressed and lots of choices. Little tricky to find shop and was hard to prebooking photographer both viator and I called no one answered, so had to make do with selfies
Amazing experience
Clarence_E, Oct 2023

Great, authentic experience
Zoe_W, Jul 2023
Pros: authentic Kimono fitting experience with nice choices for optional hairstyles, fans and bags. You can wear the outfit for as long or as little as you want with nearby traditional streets and shrines for photos (10-15 mins walk). It was raining on our chosen day and we were soaked so the staff were happy for us to reschedule for the next day, with no extra cost. Cons: location is hard to find (follow their directions in the description). There were limited options for bigger sizes shoes (AU 8+). Overall, recommend for the experience!
Fun, memorable experience
Joanne_W, May 2023
Very fun kimono experience. The staffs are attendant. Wide selection of Kimono, the staff dressed you up beautifully. Totally recommend a thing to do in Kyoto
Highlight of our trip so far!
Lisa_R, May 2023
This was a fun, memorable experience. There is a shrine nearby to take wonderful pictures. This was the highlight of our trip. If you want a hairstyle, it costs about 1000 yen and additional for any hair accessories. I also upgraded my purse, but you can also upgrade kimono and other accessories. We arrived at 9am and could keep our kimonos until 5:30pm.
Canceled - small sizes only
Railyn_L, Apr 2023
They didn’t have any kimonos that fit, so they had to cancel the booking. The size limits should have been mentioned in the description, not just the height limit.
It was a great...
Aparna_M, Apr 2023
It was a great experience. My only concern is that the address should be little clearer. It was close to a wonderful shrine and park. We were able to take great pictures
Authentic Experience for our young adult daughters
Jeremy_H, Mar 2023
Fun experience for our three high school and university girls. Attentive staff helps choose a kimono from a wide range of subtle to colorful options. The detail is amazing, all the way down to the special toe socks and kimono sandals. For an additional 1500 Yen they can do hair which includes decorative accoutrement. Highly recommend. Tip: Staff suggested Shirakawa area as a beautiful, and nearby, place for photos. It is hard being in the sandals for an extended period so we booked our dressing late in the day and only stayed out for an hour or so. Go towards Shimbashi (Shin Bridge), cross it and look for Tatsumibashi (Tatsumi Bridge) and shrine. The alley across from Tatsumi Bridge was amazing.
You get what you pay for
Dani_A, Dec 2022
Viator price only includes the very basic kimonos/yukatas and accessories. If you want anything fancy or nicer designs, you have to pay extra. I paid extra for make up and hair. Hair was ok, but make-up was slapped on and didn't look good.
