A good day in Civitavecchia

Roberta gave us an excellent tour of Civitavecchia. Right from the pickup point, she explained the historical importance of Civitavecchia and showed us hidden places. I wanted to take a tour of Civitavecchia as, from the cruiseship, we did not want the long bus ride into Rome where we have been before. As I wrote, Roberta put this forgotten town into historical context. A very good alternative to the long bus ride into Rome.

Roberta was the best guide! She was knowledgeable, personable and very friendly. She was very passionate about living in Civitavecchia, and was enthusiastic about sharing the history of the area with the tour group. The time flew by so quickly, and was sad when the tour ended because Roberta was such a delight!

Anna was a fabulous guide. Informative, able to answer all questions but not overly verbose. The tour route was well thought out and covered many interesting focal points in Civitavecchia. The pickup at the cruise port was easy also. Very nice option!

Paolo was absolutely the best guide!!! Three hour historical walking tour of Civitavecchia. We learned so much about this beautiful town . Everywhere you walk and look, there’s ancient and even recent history. Yes, there’s a beautiful beach and terrific food , but don’t miss the chance to walk the beautiful Old City!!

Civitavecchia small group tour

Exceptional experience. We ended up getting a private tour as there were a couple of no shows. Pamela, our guide from Invictur tours was brilliant! Lots of local knowledge and insights to share. A fantastic surprise at the end was getting to see Raphael’s first drafts of the Vatican paintings that were discovered behind wallpaper in a locals apartment! I’d highly recommend this tour particularly if you’ve already seen Rome and/or want to stay away from the hordes of tourists in Rome.

Excellent local tour

We really enjoyed this tour. It was perfect for a look around the city for those who don't want a long excursion into Rome (we had already been and our kids weren't interested). There were a lot of very interesting things to see in the city, especially the discovered paintings in the apartment building. We would highly recommend it!
