This was by far the most comfortable and cost-effective way to get from port to Rome at 15 euro. We only used it one way. The pickup insructions were easy to follow. The drop off point near the terminal was great for us. Would definitely use this again.

Would definitely recommend this is travelling into Rome post cruise. Very reasonably priced, and the bus was quite comfortable. The cruise shuttle from the cruise port to the tourist location in Civitavecchia to get the bus was seamless.

Unable to find Shuttle Bus stop. After walking quite a ways attempting to find vague address listed with no identifying location to reference for an hour, we gave up and lost our money/tickets. I had navigated several other ports on our trip with much better success and usually can find my way around most cities. Ended up with a tuk-tuk and then took the train from port into Rome. Spouse was tired, and we were both frustrated asking at central info booth in town, and 3 local businesses near other bus station also did not help in this process of locating stop. Would recommend company and Viator post better directions, & maybe a local business to reference with address and more clear map on tickets.

Dear customer thanks for your suggestion and we are eager to avoid such inconveniences. We specify the bus stop is just opposed to the Best Western Hotel Royal Santina because we believe the hotel is a great help to localize the bus stop. We will investigate how to get a better map though!

Shuttle to the Bus

We didn’t realize that we had to take a shuttle to get to the bus. By the time we figured that out, the bus had already left! We then had to pay for another shuttle to the center.

It is clearly indicated in the service description, that customers have to take the free shuttle service from their cruise terminal to Largo della Pace. Our bus departs at 9:30 from there.

Highly recommend you get a taxi to get you to this bus stop from your ship. It is a long walk otherwise and if you are moving more than a small carryon suitcase, it will be an issue.

Thanks! Taxis cannot enter the port but there's a free shuttle service from the cruise terminal to Largo della Pace (our bus stop).

Arrived to Rome Late, But would Take Again

Taking this bus from the port to Rome is a really great deal. Unfortunately, I can only give our trip three stars because we were late, and the one job they have to do is to get you to Rome close to on time. Initially, they left the port late which I believe may have been due to one of the cruise ships arriving late. Then the bus had some sort of malfunction during the trip, so they had to bring another bus for us to finish the trip. I do have to say that our driver was amazing. He crawled into the luggage area to load all of the very heavy luggage to the point where he appeared exhausted. Then he had to move it all into the new bus when our original bus malfunctioned. On top of that, he had to deal with an extremely belligerent passenger who wanted to get off early with his wife, and I thought the driver handled that situation well.

Great price and great service. The free msc shuttle brought us from the ship to the entrance to the port (5 minute ride) and there we easily found the SIT shuttle bus to Rome Vatican/Termini.

Bus was late

Very convenient. Comfortable and clear instructions for return. Bus left 15 minutes later for departure time, therefore we would late for out booked tour. With that said if I was the person running late would have much appreciated they were still there.

Not full 5 stars because: 1. Bus not very clean. 2. Got back to the port 30 mins late (we had enough time for our ship but don't count on the "on time guranteed"). 3. We were dropped off back at the port a bit away of where the port shuttle picks you back to the ship. Other vendors dropped their clients at the right place. Other than that - the service was good and helped us getting to Rome...

Good way to get to Rome , but driver did not make clear what the stop you were at , I heard no mention of Vatican just a jumble of road names which mean nothing to me so we ended up getting off at wrong stop and it ruined our itinerary

Affordable way to get transportation to/from the port to Rome Central

Fairly easy to find the SIT bus stop in Rome near the Vatican. The price can't be beat! I noticed on my trip that people in Europe are quite pushy and not very courteous. Rarely does anyone say excuse me, or pardon me. People in USA are much more polite and respectful (I never would have guessed that.) I was surprised. SIT should have a queue system. We were first to arrive but other groups arrived late and pushed their way onto the bus before us.

Port transportation is not reliable so you may have to walk to bus stop. Make sure to allocate 45 min to walk to bus stop from cruise port. Not for everyone if mobility issues.

We thought taking trains was the way to go, as we wanted to do Rome "on our own" from Civitavecchia cruise port. However, the regional trains between Civitavecchia and Rome are broken up into bus + train on the weekend of July 14, 15, 16 due to maintenance, increasing travel time from 51 mins to 1.5 hours. Therefore, the Civitavecchia express is also not running. We thought ok, we'd try to do the first leg via the Trenitalia Bus+Train combo, then return using this SIT shuttle bus service as we thought we would get into Rome earlier than the 9:15am departure time. Anyway. So our review is for the SIT shuttle's return service from Rome. It was a comfortable double decker bus. We got to the meeting point by 3pm, a cute little park in Piazza dell'Indipendenza (there's a Corriere dello Sport office and a Florian's cafe if you need directions) but meeting time is really at 3:30pm. The bus departed at 3:33pm to get to the Vatican City stop to pick up more people. It was close to 40C degrees that day so we really appreciate having an air conditioned bus (although no wifi) all the way back to the port.We were able to enjoy a nap and peace of mind. By 5pm we were dropped off just outside Largo Della Pace where we entered , had our medallions checked and found our Enchanted Princess cruise bus to take us back to the ship. For shore excursions we recommend this service.
