Departure Point: Hotels and riads located in central Marrakech If you are staying inside the Medina, your pickup will be at the closest point accessible to vehicles. Directions: Hotel pickup is available from hotels and riads located in central Marrakech. Please be sure to advise your hotel details at the time of reconfirmation to arrange your pickup time. If your riad is inside the medina, you will be asked to make your way to the nearest place accessible to vehicles, which may involve a short walk. Return point: Returns to original departure point

What To Expect

After morning pickup from your Marrakech hotel or riad, board your air-conditioned vehicle with your group of 15 or fewer, and journey toward the Atlas Mountains, North Africa’s greatest mountain range.

En route, hear about the Atlas’ geography from your guide, and learn about the Berber villages that speckle their valleys and slopes. Learn, too, about the Ourika Valley waterfalls, a series of crystal-clear mountainside cascades that provide a lovely counterpoint to the rocky slopes.

As you approach the mountains, enter the lush Ourika Valley, passing stone and adobe-mud villages framed by the snow-capped peaks. Then, arrive at a town near the falls and choose to either relax at the pretty riverside cafes (own expense) or take a guided walk to the falls.

If you opt for the walk, meet a local guide and follow them past orchards up the hillsides. Stop to admire the cascades and take photos of the mountain views that unfurl en route.

Reconvene with your vehicle and continue to an argan oil co-operative. After watching the Berber women extracting Morocco’s precious argan oil here, return to Marrakech where your tour concludes at the starting point.

A half day trip is proabably not enough as you will spend most of the time in a minibus to and from the valley. The stops for tea, breakfast and Pharmacy were ok, but the walk was a waste of time. No time to explore the valley, or the waterfalls etc.

Not worth the money, false description

Not worth the money. After earthquake guide said hike to waterfall is too dangerous, so we literally drive out to the valley, stopped at argon shop, walked around for 30 minutes and drove back. Also the driver/guide was scrolling on his phone while driving, and falling asleep on the drive back. He just sat in the car while we wandered.

Do check with the tour operator of the walk to the waterfalls in the Atlas Mountains is available. Otherwise you are basically driving a long way for some food and to be sold Argan oil products. Friendly knowledgeable guide.

We had a fabulous trip to see the Atlas Mountains and beautiful Ourika waterfalls. Our driver Abdul was amazing we learnt so much about the Moroccan culture and he really made our trip the best. I’m 50+ and I found the trek to the waterfalls was completely fine as long as you wear good shoes/trainers and the guide helped us where needed. I would advise going early before it gets busy.

Generally good but for the price we paid (£48 each) we thought the breakfast of just bread with jam, honey, peanut paste plus tea and coffee was a bit stingy. We would have expected perhaps eggs, orange juice etc.

Abdul our driver was brilliant - very informative and we learnt so much on our drives to and from our various destinations - thank you Abdul! Omar was our local guide for the trek to the waterfall and he was great as well, full of information! Overall a great trip and glad we were able to find a trip that was just half a day rather than a full day, but still covered the key things we wanted to see and do.
