What To Expect

Depart your Marrakech hotel by air-conditioned vehicle and travel south into the High Atlas Mountains to Imlil, a Berber village that’s the last hiking stop below Mt. Toubkal.

Follow twisting roads past lush valleys and terraced fields, and visit a women’s argan oil co-operative in the village of Tahnouat. Watch the workers making argan oil products and then ascend further to the village of Asni. If it’s a Saturday, stop to browse Asni’s traditional Berber market before continuing higher to Imlil, stopping for photos on route.

On arrival, enjoy a tea or coffee, and meet a local guide for your trek. Walk through Berber hamlets, walnut orchards, and terraced fields; admire waterfalls and spectacular mountain panoramas; and hear about Berber culture and places of interest from your guide.

Break for a traditional Berber lunch and then continue to another Berber village, where, if possible on the day, you'll visit a private family home for some refreshing mint tea or coffee with biscuits.

After leaving Imlil in the late afternoon, enjoy an optional camel ride by the River Moulay Ibrahim before finishing your tour with a drop-off at your Marrakech hotel.

We really loved the trip. It was a great experience and a very welcome refreshment, as we have July and therefore Marrakech's temperature is nearly unbearable. Our guide Saïd was friendly and gave us interesting information about the valley and mountains. Ebrahim, our driver, took us everywhere safely. The argan oil farm was informative and they let us try their products. After that, we got the possibility to ride camels, or horses. The camels were actually pretty cute and there were also two babies :)! We had the impression that they were treated well. Would definitely recommend :)

Loved loved loved this tour!
Nina_S, Apr 2024
Youssef was amazing and his driving team excellent. The bus could have had a mic so we could hear better, and youseff was great at letting people know what was coming next. We appreciated the hospitality, the lunch, views, walk to the waterfall, villages, life experience that this tour covered. Well done and highly recommend! They call you that morning so do not stress that you do not know much in advance. They came to a nearby location and had with other travelers as well. Thanks for making wonderful memories in your lovely country.

As a Moroccan, I wanted to explore my country, and for the first time, I went to Imlil. I was amazingly surprised by its beauty : mountains, beautiful landscapes, river and waterfalls and PEOPLE. Our Guide Abdou was very kind, smiling, took the time to explain everything and most important of all he was from IMLIL which made the experience very unique. No to forget Ibrahim (the driver), he was very nice and it was a pleasure talking with him. I Will definitely try it again and I'll recommend it to my friends and family. See you soon guys!!
100% recommend!!

Highlights of the travel, the friendly and thoughtful hosts, great views and landscapes. You discover a bit of the inside of morocco, countryside and real life of the country, I’d recommend it to any friend. Our guide Lahcen was absolutely amazing and gave great insights on all parts of the trip!

We had the most wonderful day from beginning to end. Ibrahim our guide is such an asset to the company. As he comes from the mountains and knew everyone it was a pleasure to have such a great experience that he shared. Our driver looked after us and our belongings which allowed us to hop on and off to record those special photo spots they found for us. We would say this is one of the best organised tours we have ever been on and we travel a lot around the world. Thank you so much for making Marrakesh memorable!!!!
Must do around Marrakech

It worth every penny. The Camel ride, the stop at an Argan factory and the final stop in the Atlas Mountains in the beautiful area of Imlil. Our guide Mustapha Amazouz was very nice and the explanations of the area was just Great! Don’t forget to wear your walking shoes as the walk through the Atlas Mountains is nice but a bit steep.

This was truly the best excursion we did during that 10 day trip to Morocco. The Imlil Valley is magnificient. Our guide was a mountain climber and the trek was marvelous and quite knowledgable as he was born and raised in the region. This is not for everyone however, as the terrain is slightly difficult. It is a 10-k trek which we really enjoyed. We were taken to a Riad for our mid-day meal and it was the best Tajine I had the opportunity to eat during this trip.

We booked this trip, not knowing what to expect, Ishmil picked us up from our Riad on time we were running late and while we had to rush our kids to get ready, he patiently waited for us. He is actually from Imlil Valley so he has a lot of knowledge of town and took us on best hike we had ever experienced. The day we went was pretty cold and once we got up to the mountain, it was SUPER cold. He stopped by a local store and borrowed a jacket from them for us power of having a local tour guide that is clearly well liked/respected in town As we started our hike, he asked if our kids would like to ride on a mule and of course we said yes! He negotiated the price and it was really reasonable. Totally recommend riding the mule. As we started hiking up, we had to get off the mule as it couldnt go up the moutnatin and we were bit worried, as there was bit of climbing. How will we get down?! But the beautfiful views totally made up for it and we even saw snow!! Well once we were done, as we were mentally preparing ourselves to go down, there were the mules!! BC he grew up in the Valley, he had knowledge of all the short cuts and where to go to enjoy the scenes. Going up took few hours or what it seemed but coming back down, riding the mules on a carved path was really short. We stopped by this local restaurant had a wonderful meal and we wished we could've stayed little longer. The disappointing part of the trip woudl be that, it got sooo cold, none of us wanted to go out to ride the camel. Only our youngest son braved the cold/wind while we watched from the car. Marrakech is a beautiful city, full of rich history, but this tour made us appreciate Morocco even more.

We stayed for a little less than a week in Morocco and this was for sure the highlight of our trip. The tour guide was so friendly and we felt like part of family at our rest stop to the Atlas Mountains filled with the grape arboretum, fresh bread and tea! It was part of an obligatory argan oil stop but we didn't care as there was no pressure and it was just a joy to be there. The five senses on the road trip were awesome...and then we began our trip up the hills to the waterfalls and through the mountains with the fleet of foot Ibrahim. Would highly recommend bringing lots of water, maybe a couple of snacks, some spare tissues, and good hiking boots and perhaps your speedos to enjoy a refreshing dip in the mountain pool! The lunch stop at the quiet family run mountain-side site was awesome...the view was spectacular and the service just right and much appreciated! All in all, a lovely tour and we would recommend it to anyone!

We loved our day traveling to Imlil Valley! The hiking was fun and beautiful. We enjoyed the waterfalls and buying orange juice from a local entrepreneur who set up a stand near the waterfall. The camel ride was perfect, not to long not to short... we had so much fun and got some awesome photos.

I dont even know where to begin!! This tour is incredible and the guides are amazing! They go through formal school for over a year just to make sure they know the answers to every question you ask. They look out for you, make sure you stay dry in the waterfall and take great pictures for you the entire time. I loved them so much that i am already planning another trip to go back and tour with them for 8 days through the Sahara. LOVE LOVE LOVE THEM!!

Fabulous trip which really made our visit to Marrakech. Picked up by Omar who was very informative and stopped along the way to show us various sights. Offered to stop whenever we wanted to take pictures. Arrived at Imlil where Ibrahim took over as our guide for the rest of the trip. Very good at explaining history of the Berber people and what we would be doing. He was funny, engaging and tempered the walk to our level so we never felt out of our depth. Lunch was a real surprise, much better than we expected and very welcome. Stopped on the way back to ride the camels which again was a great experience. Only reason I haven't given five stars is that we didn't get any bottled water which was supposed to be offered. Very minor niggle.

We were picked up on time from our hotel and taken to the Imlil valley stopping at a few tourist hot spots along the way. The best stop was seeing the Berber market which was great to witness. Omar our guide was attentive to me and in particular my mum who had altitude sickness on the decent up the mountain. Without Omar I am not sure what would have happened as he was a true God send in helping my mum. I would highly recommend this trip for the mountain views and to get out of the hustle and bustle of Marrakech. My only feedback to the tour company would to have been informed prior to leaving that we would be sharing the tour guided activities with another 2 people since I had booked for a private tour.

My friend and I visited Morocco for a short holiday. This was the only day we spent outside of Marrakesh and it was amazing. The scenery was beautiful and our guides were very sweet and knowledgeable. The trek was relatively intense if you are afraid of heights like me, but our guide was very trustworthy and helped me through a few sections, make sure you wear sneaker/hiking boots! Lunch was quite good and picturesque as well. Camel ride was also fun! Highly recommend.

The Best Day of our holiday....thanks to Ibrahim our Berber mountain trek guide. After a long and hot, chaotic drive from our Marrakech hotel to the Imlil Valley 2 hour drive by 'crazy' Omar in his 4 wheel drive, we were greeted by the lovely Ibrahim, which was a breath of fresh air! Ibrahim came across as an extremely intelligent, kind and enthusiastic man. He appeared to have only one mission to make our walk in the valley and trek 2000 meters up the mountain as enjoyable for us all as possible. My 12 year old son Henry really bonded with Ibrahim as he they had a good rapport. When we finished the tour, Ibrahim gave us each a necklace made locally as a momento, which we all thought was a lovely gesture. Thanks Ibrahim! The lunch in the valley was delightful really tasty but far more food than we could eat. On the way back, Omar stopped in a village where we had a 10 minute camel ride....however, this was disappointing as we were expecting a longer time. Overall, an amazing tour and would highly recommend that anyone booking this tour should ensure they are booked with Ibrahim.
