Overview

Discover the life and works of one of Colombia's best-known artists, Fernando Botero, on a 3-hour guided tour through Medellín. Explore the Museum of Antioquia, where more than 100 of Botero's paintings are on display, and visit the Plaza de las Esculturas, home to over 20 Botero statues. A highlight of this art tour is Botero's Pájaro de Paz statue, which was destroyed by a bomb and later replaced with an exact Botero replica. The tour guide arrived...

The tour guide arrived 1:30 minutes late due to an accident. When she finally arrived she started the tour by telling us the story of her family and her own. That was interesting for a while because we received an insight of what happened in that area. Sadly she was not an expert in Botero, which was the main reason we were there. Luckily, we received som explanations from an employee of the museum. We would have liked it better if the tour guide was as much in love with Botero as we are!

Yes, Juanita really had an accident on her bike when she was on the way to the tour, however she told us that she informed you in time and these situations are difficult to prevent, thanks to your comment we are doing training on Botero with all our guides, I share your love for him and it is really fascinating all hir world and work.

This trip and our guide was extremely informative. We walked through downtown Medellin across to Botero plaza and the museum, seeing and learning about things along the way. One thing worth noting is that this is not an art tour. We thought it would be Botero-specific, but while we did learn a LOT about Medellin and throroughly enjoyed our trip, once we got to the museum our guide did not know much about art and Botero's career. Still an amazing tour, but it might be worth updating the description or name perhaps Medellin walking tour including museum visit.

The tour was very interesting, especially enjoyed Plaza Botero where many of Botero's sculputure are. Museo de Antioquia is very worth the visit and you can enjoy more of Botero's work.

Fernando Botero, arguably one of South America's best artists, has a heavy influence on the city of Medellin. Traveling to Medellin, I wanted to learn more about Botero, his life and his work. This tour was exactly that - small-group, personalized and with a very knowledgeable guide. The museum is well worth the visit and consists of three floors full of artwork. Overall, a great and relaxing day out.
