a truly fantastic cycling trip in the breathtaking scenery of the antioquia province

after reading some excellent feedback i decided to go ahead and book a cycling trip with colombia cycling. after the initial booking i was soon contacted by tomas with a informative run down of the trip and in turn giving him my flight details for my pick up from Medellin airport, everything i needed to know prior to the trip was covered by message from tomas prior to the trip ,i did have a few further questions in the run up and tomas answered in a timely manor. i made it known that i would already be in colombia a week before the cycling started and was duly contacted by Marcela a couple of days beforehand confirming my airport collection time . on the day i was greeted by a friendly driver at arrivals who transported me to a lovely hotel in a wonderful old town outside Medellin . i was then introduced to marcela and then tomas, both very friendly and welcoming . i was then shown to a big room with a balcony and lovely views over the old town ,truly a great start to this adventure, i arrived around lunctime and before i had any thoughts of where i could eat for lunch i was messaged by marcela with details of a restaurant that was pre booked a short walk into town ,the food and the restaurant was of high standard as were every other of the eating places on the whole trip ,this among other things defiantly exceeded my expectation's. on arrival back to the hotel tomas had my bike waiting all finely prepared to my requirements , a great bike as well .later in the day as other guests arrived we were introduced , then that evening had dinner together all excited about the cycling the next day. the next day arrived after breakfast tomas arrived along with Daniel who is part of the colombia cycling team , they always have one of the team in front and one at the rear ,which was peace of mind as i was one of the less experienced cyclists on this group tour, also along side, a support vehicle and motorcyclist all very reassuring. my first reactions were ,i was taken back by the wonderful scenery , little did i imagine that as the week progressed and the cycling became more intense the scenery also became more spectacular .with day ones cycling over back to the hotel in the afternoon almost just at the right moment along came a message from Marcela as to where and what time lunch was , this was the theme for the whole trip all lunches and dinners perfectly choreographed and timed ,never once was i left in my room wondering what was happening or needing to ask questions , its not just the cycling they have nailed, in actual fact at the very end of this trip marcela asked me for some feedback and comments on ways they could improve the trip ,i honestly could not think of any ,when you look at the cost of this package and the already high quality i would of just been nitpicking . although i could not contribute any comments tomas and marcela look like they are trying to improve on a already great package so this trip will probably get better in ways i cant think of. Later on in the cycling week jessica and another daniel part of the colombia cycling team joined up all three great cyclists and always giving great encouragement and making sure you have drinks and energy bars at all times ,i was never left wanting on the climbs they were great as were all the team . to summarize this trip , all accommodation and restaurants were excellent, the whole trip far exceeded my expectations , quiet a rare thing in travel these days, i found the Colombian people very friendly and hospitable which has left me with a love for Colombia. big thanks to tomas ,marcela and all the team for making my trip so great.
