Best way to see Teotihuacan

Note - this is a long, multi-part experience. Here's what to expect and the experience we had with each: - Pickup from CDMX: Driver and company were very communicative, clear about when and where they would get us, etc. It starts EARLY (our pickup was 4:50am) but that's to be expected. 10/10. - Balloons: Excellent. I'd done hot air balloons before, but nobody else in our group had. Everyone had a great time, and the experience of seeing stuff from the sky really is unique. - "Artisan" Store: Post-balloons and pre-breakfast, you spend ~45 mins at a nearby store hawking locally-made stuff (obsidian, jewelry, textiles, etc.). I'm a cynic and doubt where most of the stuff is made. Very meh, but learned a couple cool things all the thing. - Breakfast: By the time it happens, you are HUNGRY. Eating in the cave is a cool novelty, but wears off after the first few moments. Food itself is good, especially because (again) at this point you're *ready* to eat. - Walking the Grounds: Our group was pretty "meh" on this, but this is the part of the tour that is most open to personalization. If you want to spend 90 minutes and get a guide on-site (extra $), that's doable. If you want to do more of a drive-by (~30 mins) then that works too. Extra notes / tips: - Bring bottles of water and a snack - Possible to sleep on the car rides to and from CDMX, but it's not the smoothest ride - Incidental extra expenses associated with the tour probably run ~$700 MXP per person (tips for driver, guide, balloon captain, entry to Temple of Sun site, waiters at breakfast, etc.).

Violently Sick

Ruined our trip to Mexico City. Do not take this tour! My husband and I are still violently ill after 4 days from this tour. They took us to a cave for breakfast and although the food tasted good, in the evening, we both got violently ill- ext vomiting, non stop diarrhea, fever and chills. Tried to contact the tour operator but they are not an answering. We just didn’t want any one else getting sick. It’s been 4 days and we still cannot leave our hotel room. A complete disaster.

A Unforgettable Experience

I was satisfied with the delivery and hospitality of service. The hotel pick-up and check-in process was smooth. The experience flying over the temple was truly an unforgettable experience. Had the excursion just been solely the balloon ride I would still be satisfied. I'm glad they offered a chance to visit the temple. I choose this excursion primarily because many similar excursions did not. The breakfast location was neat. Our tour guide, Gavi, was extremely friendly and enhanced the overall tour. I'm certain in the future she will continue to excel as her time being a tour guid Suggestions for Future Improvement: 1. A bottle of water per passenger. 2. A bit of a primer on the background of the history, archaeology, and mythology of the temple, and background on the hot air balloons would have been a nice added touch. 3. The hotel pick-up was a bit inefficient. I wonder if there is a way to make the wait a bit more pleasurable?

The hot air balloon was fabulous and the staff (including Gabi, Mario, Hugo, and many others) were uniformly helpful and kind. Loved that they picked us up at our door! I wish there was a way to book this experience that didn’t involve all the “other” stuff though - I would have paid just as much (maybe more!) for just the hot air balloon ride and walking around the ruins and skipping the obsidian/tequila/breakfast part.

Highlight of my trip

The balloon ride over the pyramids was the highlight of my trip to Mexico City. I would recommend it to anyone. I would take off a half star because there was so much waiting around. We waited for the other balloons to finish and then for other people to finish shopping and then for others to finish viewing the pyramids. This was built into the trip plan but made a significant portion of the time kinda boring. I would also have liked drink and side options at the restaurant, but the food was good. The staff was super nice and helpful. You won't regret booking.

A fantastic experience! Hugo was our driver and had a great personal touch and was great! We arrived and had the briefing from Gabi! She had lots of energy and kept everyone engaged. Mau was our pilot and he was took care checking in with all the people in the basket. The actual ballooning was spectacular views of the site. Landing was really fun …that’s all I say. IMO, if your child is under 4 ft, they will have limited views. The toast was great. The tasting was great and the obsidian visit was informative. Remember you are on a tour and roll with it! The cave breakfast, it was a fun experience- 4 decent choices. We had 11-1 at the site it’s super hot so bring a hat or umbrella. The drive back, keep in mind that the traffic is heavier. This tour is worth every penny and the 4A pick up. Travel is about experiences and rolling with the adventure!

From start to finish the experience was on time and well organized. The staff was friendly and considerate of our needs. We left our souvenir in the van and he returned it next day! Only thing I would have liked to have more of is water- so bring lots! The small bottle we brought was gone quickly. I highly recommend this trip when you're in Mexico City!

Great program, could improve some of the logistics

The program was great, especially the balloon ride. The coordination of the drop off and pick up at the pyramids could be better. And the drop off back at Mexico City was a bit chaotic - the driver was super nice but I wish we knew it was going to take an extra hour to drop off the other people as we could have used alternate transportation locally in the city.

This trip was so well organized .I'm terrified for heights and our guide made sure I was comfy..it was an unbelievable experience .following we went for a mezcal tasting breakfast in a natural wonder..we explored the pyramids after! Our group was so great and friendly..I was lucky! Worth every penny and more! It's a long day but an unforgettable experience

Really great experience! The balloon ride was fantastic and the coffee at the cave restaurant was fantastic. Gavi was really kind and made the day super fun! No safety briefing/instructions about the landing position were given for the hot air balloon ride which I think should have been covered prior to takeoff.

I’m terrified of heights, but did this for my daughter. It was actually not bad to be on the hot air balloon, and I wasn’t scared during the whole ride. Picked us up at the hotel, drove to the launch site, left our bags in the car, and rode the balloon. Landed softly on the trailer, and driven back to the car. From there, we were driven to breakfast in the cave. It was good, and the cave was pretty cool. We did have a short demonstration on alcoholic beverages and obsidian jewelry, but it was fine. Then we spent an hour at the pyramids before the hour long drive back to the hotel. I was apprehensive to do this, but I am so glad I did. I got some amazing pictures too.
