What To Expect

Your early morning starts with pickup at the meeting point in Piazza IV Novembre next to the entrance of the Gallia Hotel. Hop aboard your air-conditioned coach and head out for St. Moritz, a luxury alpine resort town in Switzerland’s Engadin valley.

Along the way, stop to visit the Santuario della Beata Vergine di Tirano, a 16th-century basilica standing at the border between Italy and Switzerland.

Then, board the Bernina Express Red Train with a round-trip, second-class ticket. Relax while the train “climbs” up to 7,390 feet (2,253 meters)—the highest point reached by trains in Europe—through the alps to St. Moritz on a route with UNESCO World Heritage status.

After free time in St. Moritz to stroll by the lake or visit shops, return to Piazza IV Novembre in Milan.

The view from bernina train is beautiful in white because we are travelling in the middle of snowing time. Our guide Vivianne is very kind and communicative. The driver Fransesco shows high skill in driving the very long bus on a steep climb with sharp turns. Very recommended.

It was a fantastic and great trip. Sonia the guide was exceptional and explained every detail with clarity leave no one needing to ask any questions or doubts. We got a lot of snow on the way up to St. Moritz in the train and even the lake at st moritz was frozen. All in all a great tour

The day was worthwhile even though a landslide meant we were unable to do the train component, The bus took us along the same route the train follows. Our guide Nicoli was ok, limited commentary on route but was informative about the days prices and the main places we stopped.

Arranged well (meeting place description was off in Google map but you can see the cluster of people collect), guide was ok. I felt the duration of time on bus was understated. It is a very long day. Very cold at the top but that’s on me, my review isn’t of the weather it’s the viator service and the dress code from Viator should provide some kind of guidance for rookies like myself.

Amazing journey, great guide, thank you Marina! We had a lovely time on the bus ride and especially on the train. It's a trip of a lifetime! As a side note, the sights on the train are better on the right side from Tirano to St. Moritz. Also, don't be surprised that you'll only go with the train in one direction (up the mountain) , the descent is done by bus. It was almost dark when we returned, so take this as a win to get 2-3 hours of sleep on the bus after a looong day.
