What To Expect

Meet your guide at Milan Central Station, and relax on the train journey to Lake Como. You’ll stop to stretch your legs and soak up the lake views before the journey continues.

The route passes through Italy’s Valtellina valley, a beautiful area that cuts through the mountains. After a stop in a typical winery or café, you’ll continue to Tirano for a quick lunch (own expense) before boarding the Bernina Express.

Aboard the little red train, you’ll pass high into the hills, crossing bridges and viaducts along the way. The terrain here is rugged yet scenic, and lend themselves to sweeping views of the alps and lakes.

Disembark at Ospizio Bernina (summer) or Diavolezza (winter). Continue by coach or minibus to the mountain town of St. Moritz for shopping and walking, then travel onward to Colico for your train back to Milan.

My husband and I had the best time on this tour! If you are thinking about booking, don’t think just do! This was easily one of the coolest experiences I’ve had and our tour guide Sylvia was so nice and knowledgeable. How often can you say you took a train through the Swiss alps? This tour also made us realize we’d love to make a trip out of a Lake Como stay. Book and you won’t regret it!

This trip was amazing. We was originally booked for a later date but the weather forecast was awful so Luca went above and beyond to get us on an earlier trip as we were only there a few days. We’re so glad he did. It was so well organised, the guide was lovely and so passionate about what she did. She was so knowledgeable and made sure the whole group had a great time. The trip itself was amazing, the scenery you see is stunning. I think we saw every season throughout the trip. I’m glad we packed hat and gloves as it was pretty cold once we got to St Moritz. Just fantastic. I would recommend this trip to anyone who is in Milan you will not be disappointed. Thank you to Luca and his fantastic team.!

Great tour leader - Alice Bernina ride is an experience which cannot be missed. Only bad remark is that due to the snow level we could not stop at St Moritz as planned. However our tour guide did her best to fill the day with other activities during our travel.

Dear Marisa We are very glad that you appreciated the job well done by our Tour leader Alice! As per the title of our Tour the HIGHLIGHT of it is the Bernina Train journey which we did. We were not able to stop in S. Moritz because the road that our minivan’s driver was supposed to use as usual (part of it supposedly with the clients) was not completely cleared from the falling snow and there was a strong possibility of storm causing lack of visibility and crucial obstacles for cars to move ahead. On top of that the risk of avalanches was intense due to the combination of abundant snow and high temperature. IN THOSE CASES SAFETY OF OUR DRIVERS, GUIDES AND CLIENTS IS OUR MAIN PRIORITY!

What an amazing experience! Did a lot of research into which tour to go on, and this is exceeded all expectations. Once you meet up at the station, it’s explained really well as to what the day will consist of. Luca, who lead the tour, is brilliant! Very engaging, personable and knowledgeable about the area. The day went flawlessly, with the train journey being the pinnacle. Train was really quiet, so lots of space and opportunities for photos and videos of the breathtaking scenery. 100% recommend Luca and this particular tour. Superb day had by all. Unforgettable experience!

This has to have been one of the most worthwhile day trips I have done in any country! Myself and my friends booked our tickets two days before the event and everything was communicated very clearly to us about how and where to meet our guide. Luca was such an amazing host as well as Daniele and they were both very informative and chatty to everyone on the tour. Our group was small (about 15) but it made for a nicer trip as we mingled more and could ask questions to Luca easily. On our tour, we were able to stop at a winery which was amazing learning about the local produce and how their location affects what they can grow. We were on the trip in January, which even though was seen as off-season for many of the towns we stopped off in, seemed like the perfect time of year to visit. We had amazing blue skies, and very few people around which made the whole experience very relaxing. The train into the Alps blew any expectations I had, out of this world. We were in a carriage and the windows were able to be pulled down and you could lean out for a better view. The smaller group we had meant that we could go from the left and right of the carriage very easily and see everything. The carriage was well heated as well so we never went cold. The lovely bus driver also met our group when we got back off the train in Switzerland and it made the whole trip feel more wholesome having the same people for the whole duration of the trip. By the time we were coming home, we were exhausted from the whole day. Social batteries and phone batteries were low after the whole trip but well worth it. I would highly recommend anyone to do this trip if visiting Milan for a couple of days. I will be planning a return trip with a new group soon and would love to have all of them experience this trip as you get to see and do so much.

Well worth every penny and definitely the tour to do this day trip with. I saw other tours that were cheaper but had room for up to 50 people which I wasn’t keen on and saw this tour that offers space for 16 people which makes it even better. A lot more intimate and less people to worry about. The views are breathtaking. It’s a very long day so be prepared but it’s all worth it. Wished we could’ve gotten a bit more time in St Moritz but due to time constraints we made due but we had a lovely day nonetheless. Thank you Luca, Daniele and the driver.

Luca, our tour guide, did a wonderful job during this tour. He made sure that everyone was alright and thoughtful about even giving us some souvenir too. Meet up point was easily spotted given the clear instruction. In Milan station, we were warmly greeted by Maria and Chelsea. Alberto the driver was as equally thoughtful too and always smiling. Trip was smooth, convenient and comfortable. We truly enjoyed the trip especially the train ride. Luca gave us heads up with the sights not to miss and share infos along the way. I recommend this tour for those that want to make the most of their days while staying in Milan.

We were lucky to have a very sunny day and clear skies (11-06-23). We were able to see the beautiful St. Moritz through the amazing Bernina Line. Paola, our tour guide, was very nice, knowledgeable and helpful. I’ve learned a lot from her on this tour. The bitto cheese snd buckwheat pasta were very good recommendations, as well. Ivan, the driver was a very good driver. I liked how he knew all shortcuts so we were able to make it on our train in the nick of time. I highly recommend this tour, but I feel like it would really depend on the weather if you’ll be able to actually go to St. Moritz.

Sylvia, our tour guide, was excellent. Very personable and knowledgeable., fun to be around. Our tour started at the train station in Milan and then she met us on the train. Beautiful scenery. Our train car was great, because you could open the windows to get better pictures and move around a bit. We tried some very good food that she recommended and were lucky to have her as our guide. We had a small enough group to have a very personal tour.
