What To Expect

Meet your guide at a centrally located point to begin your tour.

Wander through this verdant residential area of New Orleans to admire the many beautiful 19th-century antebellum mansions—it's the largest collection of this style of buildings in the world. At one time, this part of the city was taken up by a few plantations. These were later broken up into the separate residential plots you see today.

The streets are lined with Live Oaks, sometimes branching across roads to create lush tunnels between fine examples of quintessentially New Orleanian architectural styles. Look for scrolled cast-iron fences and grand white columns.

Before concluding the tour, visit one of the city's famous above-ground cemeteries, Lafayette Cemetery No. 1, which dates from the 19th century.

We enjoyed our tour with D.J. He had a great sense of humor. We learned about the various architectural styles and interesting New Orleans history facts. We also walked by the homes of several celebrities which was neat. The 2 hour tour was a fun adventure.

I had done a garden tour 20 years ago when I visited NOLA. When I brought my wife this time, I wanted to take her on a similar tour. I am glad that i booked this tour! Our guide was born and bred in New Orleans and was a historian to boot. The tour lasted about 2 hours and was worth every penny. Aside from just telling us about the homes and who owned them, she had history about how the entire city was founded, the peoples that made up the culture and how each area was formed. Aside from seeing the fantastic houses, we learned the history of the families that built them. On top of that, our tour was a small group so it was much more intimate. I highly recommend this tour!
