Abbey in the rain

The Abbey was amazing and we loved seeing the monumental size of the building. The architecture and structures were incredible and impressive. The multitude of passages and stairways was a challenge to navigate but we did it!! The gray, rainy day underlined the austerity of the building. Our driver was kind enough to take us there and collect us after the tour. He gave us our admission tickets; no mention of audio guides, cider or museum. There was no history setting as we drove or interesting anecdotes afterwards. He privately chatted with the person on the front seat. It was raining and wet, heavy traffic and dark and I understand that he needed to concentrate on driving. So, we got there, received tickets, stood in line, saw the Abbey, walked back, drove. For a nice chunk of change. Something is missing.

This was a great trip that checked off a bucket list item. We visited in early October and had a beautiful day with a blue sky and warm but not hot temperature. My only recommendation is that if you are older with a "bad knee" or arthritic hips, do NOT forget to bring hiking poles. I brought mine with me and they enabled me to successfully navigate the steep path and many stairs that did not have handrails. I suggest the tour operator offer guests the opportunity to rent these because everyone does not own them or have the ability to put them into carry on luggage.

Mont St Michel should not be missed.

First, the visit to Mont St Michel was amazing!! Our guide/driver was so nice, knowledgeable and accommodating. My rating was based on the uncomfortable minivan. There were 8 guests packed into the vehicle, the front should only hold 1 guest + driver. There were a larger/taller guests that made it stressful. You should have 12 passenger vehicles to accommodate 8 people to give some space to breathe and be comfortable on the longer tours. It also did not help that there were 2 unpleasant and inconsiderate passengers, not your fault. Could not wait til tour was over.

Nice place. Too far from Paris. The vehicle was a POS. Passengers were late. Though a very nice man, the driver drove too fast and swerved a lot, thereby jostling the passengers. No AC. No floor coverings. Dented vehicle. No PA system. No good. Tje Mt St Michel was great though we did know we had to climb 900 steps Loved the site. Hated the drive.

The walk across the causeway up to the mont on what turned out to be a beautiful day was priceless. Nicolas, the tour guide was friendly and informative along the 4 hour ride there so we had some history and anecdotes about the abbey and town. He was equally great on the 4 hour ride home answering questions about all things France and engaging us on our experiences from all over. Loved this day trip!!

I was finally able to experience Mont St Michel, along with my husband and a friend. First glimpse was when we were about 10 miles away. There it was, sitting in the blue water. As we got closer you could see how truly massive this structure is. That concept was reaffirmed as we walked up the 350 steps. Our guide was wonderful and attentive to each person and their particular needs. Excellent experience.

We had a comfortable 4 hour trip to Mont St Michel with our guide, Jean-Pierre. He was very friendly and helpful. We had plenty on time to explore the monestary and the surrounding town. It was a beautiful day!

This was a great outing from Paris. The abbey is truly amazing to see and to learn the history. I wish we had known that they did guided tours on the island as it would have gotten us to places we were not allowed. Our guide was more of a driver than guide and we would have liked more information than he was able to provide. He was extremely nice and a very safe driver.

the ABBY is amazing, you have to be in good condition to go up so many steps, but its worth it. The views , the history and the buildings themselves are amazing , the food was delicious.,unfortunely we had a couple that was late for the return and it was cold. An the traffic into Paris was very heavy took us longer that it should have. I was very cold in the minivan my feet hurt from the cold. The place was beautiful though

We met outside of the Louvre at a convenient location, our guide was very good and informative, we knew it was a long drive there and back but after several days walking around Paris we were ready for a break in the van, the van was clean and comfy though a bit tight by American standards, caution if you are obese, Mount St Michel was beautiful, had time to tour the abbey, historical museum, walk all the streets of the village and get a sit down lunch, buy some souvenirs, we had a good time with everyone else in our tour group, met nice people. It took from 7am to 8:30pm. I was nervous because of some of the poor reviews on here, this was the only tour left to book for Le Mont and I’m glad we took the chance!

Please look for a different tour company

We booked an English tour. My wife gets a call from someone who only speaks French she thought the cafes where closed for the holiday. We get there and it turns out the Abbey was closed so the main reason for the visit was not available. The other item on our agenda was wine and cider tasting. This was no longer an option according to the guide. So for over 400 euros we got an uncomfortable ride in a cramped minivan and a chance to buy cheap gifts in a junk shop. Please choose another vendor. I have heard some people had a great experience with other companies so look around.

The van had issues we almost had to wait for another car, and come back , driver didn’t gave museum tickets to the museum. Could not go in the museum which we paid for .

First and foremost, I booked the tour on the understanding that I could cancel up to 24 hours prior to the trip. As my travelling companion and I were both very unwell with the flu, I attempted to either change the day or cancel, only to discover that this was not possible. As we had paid $450 for the day, felt we had to go, and my apologies to any of those who we may have passed our flu on to. As we reached the island, it poured with rain, which continued until we were about to leave. Consequently it was an awful day, and on the strength of it will never book through Viator again, as it is very clearly a case of false advertising, as there is nothing at all to say that it can't be changed or cancelled, that only comes up when you go to do so.....be warned, do not book!

Amazing Monument but tour disappointing

We booked a semi private guided tour to Mont St.Michel but basically all we got was a taxi ride - the guide did very little other than drop us off and then pick us up at the end. Also the restaurant where the cider tasting was were hopeless, did not know anything about the tasting, gave us a sparkling cider and a calvados and left us on our own - very disappointing as I have done quite a few viator tours and they are normally very good

The tour guide and driver was excellent and deserves a better rating, however the included Cider and Calvados tasting a total disaster. We were told by our guide to attend the tasting location as all was arranged and when we arrived no one knew anything about it and hotel staff very unfriendly and displayed real French arrogance and kept us waiting for over 20 mins. We finally got to the bottom of the problem with the hotel blaming French Tourisme saying they did not organise it with them. When we did get in we were shown to a table that had a glass of Cider and Calvados however no one explained what it was etc totally left on our own. I think this part of the trip is a complete waste of time and would be best to delete from the tour. It is for this reason that I have rated the tour average

Sit back, let your driver take you to the beautiful Mont St. Michele. The van was comfortable, clean and relaxing. Our guide was pleasant. Our van was very quiet, not a lot of conversation, but that was ok. Just enjoyed the day and didn't have to drive ourselves or ride on a huge tour bus.
