What To Expect

Start your small-group tour to Chichen Itza and Ek Balam with pickup from your hotel in Playa del Carmen and the Riviera Maya and drive to one of the most renowned archaeological sites of the Yucatán Peninsula.

On arrival, walk with your guide and view impressive structures built during the Maya Empire. View the Kukulkan Pyramid, aka El Castillo (The Castle), as well as El Caracol, also known as the Observatory. See the Plaza of a Thousand Columns, Temple of the Descending God, Temple of the Jaguar, Temple of the Warriors, and the ball court. You then have free time to explore the site on your own.

Continue your full-day itinerary to Ek Balam, stopping en route at nearby Cenote Hubiku. Learn about this sacred place, once considered the road to the underworld for the Maya people. Take a refreshing swim in the emerald waters, which reach a depth of 196 feet (60 meters). Spend free time there, followed by lunch at the on-site restaurant, with an optional visit to the tequila museum.

Upon reaching Ek Balam (meaning 'Black Jaguar' in the Mayan language), tour the well-preserved archaeological site and learn about its ancient Maya royalty. See the tomb of its ruler, housed in the Acropolis, and marvel at the inscriptions. Other important buildings you see include the twin pyramids and the ball court. The driver did not show up, and they cancelled the trip half hour after the supposed pick up time. We lost a day of excursion because of this
Response from Host, Feb 2024
As we informed you that day, an accident occurred on the highway that blocked traffic on the highway for several hours, unfortunately these are external situations that affect our service.
Unforgettable experience

The trip was fantastic! Everything was on time and well organized. Due to the fact that Ek Balam was closed, we got an offer to visit Coba - a real hit! Maria, our guide, was fantastic in providing all the knowledge about Mayan life. In Coba we rode bikes through the jungle, my 15-year-old daughter and we were delighted, real fun! Swimming in the Cenote was the most beautiful experience of my life!!!! The whole trip was wonderful! I recommend it! No one will ever take these memories away from you!
Fabulous!

This excursion to two Mayan sites and a cenote was really amazing - my son and I are so glad to have experienced a little piece of Mayan history. The absolute highlight was climbing the temple at Ek Balam. The guide Oscar, was full of knowledge and relayed a lot of the mythical stories associated with Mayan culture. Both the driver and the guide of this small Group tour were wonderful and super kind and supportive. We were happy and exhausted at the end of the day, and would highly recommend this tour.
Awesome history, amazing experience

Jesus aka Chewie was our tour guide and he was incredibly knowledgeable and we enjoyed the time we spent with him. The history and stuff that you learn on this tour is amazing. If we were to do the tour again we would certainly use the same company and ask for the same tour guide.
Chichén Itzá, Cenote & Ek Balam
Trevor_W, Jan 2023
Had an awesome time exploring Chichén Itzá along with a few other stops with our tour guide Jesus aka “Chewie” and driver Jorge! Chewie was not only knowledgeable about the sites but also Mexico’s history in general. Tour group size was small so it made it feel very private and enabled you to move around the sites quicker. While Chichén Itzá is impressive due to its size, the highlight was Ek Balam as you can still climb up the ruins for a gorgeous view. Anyone who ends up with a Chewie for a guide will be very happy!
Great experience

Jesus( guide) and Jorge (driver) were both fantastic they made the whole tour very easy. It is a long day and expect to spend the most of the day on the tour, especially if going from Cancun. Ruins were fantastic and Jesus knew the history very well. Our favorite part was the cenote swim. The buffet lunch was just okay but everything else was good. Definitely would recommend this tour hands down!!!
Great places but see where other guests are being picked up from
Cynthia_C, Jul 2022
The tour itself was great! Guides and places were excellent. The drop off/pick up added 5 EXTRA HOURS OF RIDING IN THE VAN. We were picked up at 5 am and didn’t get back until 9:30 pm. We left last location before 5 pm. Some type of other system needs to be in place when guests are spread out to the extent of this group.
Awesome tour!

It was an awesome trip. There is a lot of walking and heat but I loved it. Definitely go if you are wanting to see the sites and okay with sweating a whole bunch!
Loved this trip!

My partner and I ended up being the only ones on the tour (because we were unable to change days) and had a fabulous time!!! Our guide was Joel, and he was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. It was an amazing adventure day.
Cancelled
Eddie_S, May 2021
The tour was cancelled less than 24 hours of the scheduled time. They said it was due to Covid-19, that was not true since I was able to book another tour at midnight the day before and made it. The other company had no issues.
Response from Host, Jun 2021
The tour was not canceled, it was rescheduled the next day something that you did not accept, it is fine, it is not required. There are restrictions in the archaeological zones, one of them is the daily number of visitors, this situation does not depend on us, the administration of the archaeological zones decides this. If you have gone with another company, something that we doubt because the restriction is for all companies, it will be because someone did not take your tour and they went instead of them. It should be clear that you did NOT pay for this excursion and you do not know our service.
Phenomenal tour- highly recommended!! ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Ulysses was so knowledgeable & we learned so much!! It was a fantastic experience!! We went to Chichen Itza 20 years ago & learned so much more this time around! Hubiku & Ek Balam were a welcome addition & we really enjoyed ourselves! It is a lot of time in the van but so worth it & they spaced out our stops perfectly.
Amazing!

Our tour guide, Joel, was very well informed and did a great job showing us around the ruins while also making sure that we knew the background information about what we were seeing. The entire time we were with him and Jorge, they were nothing but friendly, encouraging, and kind. Overall my daughters and I 100% recommend this tour!

I highly recommend this tour and the company - we would definitely use them again if we were looking to tour the Yucatan again. All of our logistics were taken care of from the beginning to the end of the day and the guides were highly knowledgeable about the places we went, Mayan history, and the culture of the Yucatan peninsula. The majority of our tour was spoke Spanish so there was one guide for the Spanish speakers and one guide who spoke English with us all day, which was far beyond what we had expected. All of the sites were as advertised and the van was comfortable. I can't imagine getting a better deal for the price and the quality of the tour.
Un tour exceptionnel!!!
Marc_D, May 2023
Asta lavista 🦋✨
