What To Expect
Combine beach time, birdwatching, and shopping, and you have this day trip to the oases of Isla Contoy and Isla Mujeres. After a morning hotel pickup, head to the marina for a refreshing light breakfast of fruit, sweet bread, iced tea, juice, and coffee.
Your boat first zips you to Isla Contoy. Jump into the transparent waters and enjoy snorkeling along a coral reef. Next, your guide takes you to a bird sanctuary and other points of interest on the island.
Midday, settle in at a local Mexican restaurant for lunch, which includes grilled fish and chicken, tortilla chips with guacamole, salad, fresh fruit, and drinks.
After some free time, hop back in the boat and head to Isla Mujeres to check out the beach or its shops. Your tour ends with return transport to the marina in Cancun and back to your hotel.

The Beach Escape Tour has an incredible view of Mexico's ocean life. It is good if you are staying on a sargassum-filled beach and want to see crystal blue waters. Our guides were George and another lady. They were great and switched effortlessly to many languages to accommodate the correct language. Isla Contoy requires you not to wear any sunscreen as the preservation of natural coral life is important. Isla Mujeres is a more touristy area but you can still go into the ocean. Overall, I would recommend this tour.

Isla Contoy - swimming on the beach and seeing pelicans up close, and the many fish, conchs, a big red starfish, and a nurse shark. Plus hundreds of frigate birds.

For the cost of this tour for four, I could've hired a private boat to take us snorkeling for 20 minutes. Isla Mujeres was mostly a shopping stop. Isla Contoy was pretty and lunch was good. The guides were knowledgeable and helpful. Our particular body ended up with the absolute drunkest people I've ever seen and the crew kept their beer and tequila flowing. Honestly I feel like people looking for a party cruise shouldn't be allowed on this trip if only 200 people can visit Contoy per day. They ruined the trip and we're really disrespectful of the island's rules.

The two islands were very beautiful, but we thought it was over priced. The tour guides were fun and very kind, but we were disappointed by the time given for the different activities. My fiancé booked this trip because of the snorkeling, but there is only about 20 minutes of areas worth snorkeling. I wanted to spend time on Isla Mujeres, but we were only given an hour to explore the entire island. This activity is sold as a 12 hour day. Little did we know that included 5 hours of shuttle service. It took us over 2 hours to pick up all of the other couples/families and then took us over 2 hours to get back to our hotel. We would not recommend this activity to those that are looking for an unforgettable snorkeling experience or if you want to spend time at Isla Mujeres. Contoy is stunning and is the only real focal point of this trip so if that is your goal then this trip is for you if not then it isn’t.

Great day enjoying the beautifull Isla Contoy and Isla Mujeres.
Especially 3 hours on the stunning island of Contoy was a highlight. Not many people so you really get to enjoy a more remote Caribbean island style. Clear water, fish, turtles and pelicans.
We did not snorkel due to rocky wawes, which meant more time on Isla Mujeres. Fun island to visit but very crowded compate to the peacefull Contoy.
From Playa del Carmen it ended up being almost 12 hours from pick up to drop off.

Tour guide JP and crew made the trip fun and relaxing while learning more about the islands and coral reefs. It was a fantastic mix of relaxation on Isla Contoy and excitement on Isla Mujeres. Loved the non busy and beauty of Isla Contoy. Had time to relax on the beach, tour parts of the island and learn about the birds and sea life, and enjoy fresh fish cooked for lunch. Walking up the dunes for a view and seeing the contrast in water color of Carribean Sea and Mexican Gulf was neat. Isla Mujeres was busy and fun to walk around, enjoy coconut and ice cream, and checking out the beaches. Boat ride were also a blast with music and refreshments. Even though we couldn’t snorkel (water conditions) it was still packed with fun!

Some issues with communication between guide and back office which resulted in a delay for 30 min. But the guide Lara was nice and gav us some compensation. There was little breakfast snack before going to Isla Mujeres. Isla Mujeres had pretty blue beach but the Island had some wear. The street sellers are aggressive and will try to be friends with you by saying they are the waiter from your hotel 😅. Contoy was very pretty but the guards are very strict with not touching the vegetation (palm trees). Lunch was delicious! Snorkeling was also fun but the two lines the guide tryed to have us make was kinda an impossible task. The boat ride back and forth was also fun but needs more comfort when going fast over big waves (hello back injury). All in all fun day 😊

Contoy island is a natural reserve, therefore the park rangers are super strict, but we hope that you enjoyed your visit to this natural sanctuary.

I mena, it's a virgin island but they tell you "we have all these animals!" but you see at most some crabs, which were actually cool, but that was it and some birds. The beach isn't even that nice.

the climate has been very changeable due to the presence of cold fronts in the area compared to the entire year, which was always tropical/hot, so this directly affects the species that inhabit in the island (its birds) and the ecosystem.

Beautiful island! Absolutely enjoyed my time on this tour! Great food, great entertainment from the crew and snorkeling was also really fun!
I would mostly recommend for groups/couples/families and not solo travellers as most people are in groups already
