Our guide was fantastic. He told us how much he loves his job. It was obvious. He pointed out so many turtles and a couple of sting rays. He also identified the fish we saw. He constantly made sure we were ok and wanted to continue. I only wish I could remember his name. It was a wonderful experience.

Brilliant experience!

Jesus was a lovely guide. He was welcoming and helpful. Very knowledgeable and patient with us. We managed to see nine turtles and also a manta ray, as well as a Spanish cannon submerged and corals. I really recommend him as your guide.

They told us where to park, and provided the equipment. Took an easy swim out and witnessed sea turtles, stingray, and fun blue fish that liked nibbling the buoy chains.

Awesome experience swimming with the sea turtles—we also saw rays, squid, and a blowfish! Our guide Angel was excellent. Best for kids who are confident swimmers (though everyone wore life vests and Angel had a rescue float, it wouldn't be fun for someone who wasn't confident in the water). You won't be able to apply sunscreen once you arrive because they have a rule about waiting before going in the water, so you may want to apply early before heading there.

We are a family of 5, our children are 13, 11 & 8. We had a fantastic & unforgettable experience snorkelling with turtles. It was great to have a private guide. Our daughter was a little nervous and he guided her on her float and she managed to snorkel and enjoy herself. We went early, so it wasn’t overly busy. Only minus one star as we couldn’t find the meeting point. The Viator instructions weren’t clear and we walked up the road unnecessarily.

Turtle Snorkle Tour: 10/10!

Amazing! We loved swimming with the turtles! Our tour guide, Manny, provided us with snorkel gear and life jackets. Then helped us secure a locker (for a small deposit), and off we went to the beach! We saw many turtles, stingray, a squid, and brightly colored fish! My husband is not a strong swimmer, and between the life jacket and Manny towing him using a flotation ring, he was still able to float along and enjoy the wildlife. Thank you!!

It’s perfect for a family. Our guide Santiago was great with my 10 year old and made sure his equipment fit and that he saw everything he wanted. Super easy. They took care of everything and we’re both profession and nice.

Best!! Don’t miss out on an awesome activity. The entrance get you access to the beach for the whole day and they have a restaurant and very reasonable drinks and ice cream too. I went with my 3 kids and loved it.

I recommend going early, making a day of it, afterwards enjoying a drink or snacks at the beachfront restaurants with the most beautiful ocean view. the company immediately contacted me and offered to organize transport for our large group which was a way better deal than what our resort offered. Everything was easy, and out in the open. No surprise fees!

Seeing the turtles in their natural habitat was very awesome. It was just hard because there were so many people around you with all the different tour groups. It was also very hard to find parking and where to meet.

Great guide, saw a few turtles really close and a stingray and some fish. Great 1 hour tour. Don’t go on a day that the water is windy/rocky as it’s difficult to swim. They do their best to keep the turtles sanctuary safe and well kept.

Cheeto is a super snorkeling guide

Cheeto/Jose was a super guide. He first took us to the sea grass area where we were able to see clearly several sea turtles with companion fish. Cheeto then guided us to deeper water where we saw stingrays, schools of fish, and variety of colorful tropical fish -- parrot fish, fish with black stripes, etc. The experience was spectacular for us -- many years ago, we had seen such fish when snorkeling, and we thought that we would never have this opportunity again. Cheeto made it possible! He guided us to the best areas, and he pointed out rays and other great things to see. We sincerely appreciate his expertise, patience, care, and good sense of humor.

I went back and forth and whether or not to book a guide or just go on our own. I'm glad we did as it gave us access to lockers and washrooms and I'm not sure we would have had as much luck spotting the turtles on their own. Definitely book as early in the morning as possible. We booked at 9am and there was one other group in the water with us, as we left around 10 there were about 3 and another 4 or so getting in. I would also recommend waiting to see the water conditions before you book as the water was pretty choppy and rough the day we went. It make the experience harder to enjoy

Snorkeling in the wind

It was a windy day, but Santiago did his best to make this a great experience. I haven't snorkeled in a number of year, and I'm a senior. He made me feel safe. We saw turtles and even had a few surface within feet of us. The water was merky due to the wind, but we did our best and Santiago did his best. He was a very nice person, and very knowledgeable.

Fun Akumal Snorkel Trip

Stress free experience - there is a stand as you drive into Akumal beach to meet the guide and a short walk to the area where there are lockers showers etc. Our guide David assisted us with entry and provided us with our life jackets and snorkels. It was a windy day and visibility was quite poor under the water but our guide spotted lots of turtles for us and it was a great experience.
