    Beautiful lagoon
    Natalia_P, Dec 2023
Great trip, very knowledgeable guide beautiful lagoon. Quite challenging hike up to the village but we managed to find a horse for me half way.
    Amazing tour guide they have.
    ken_h, May 2023
Our tour guide Kevin, is the best. Very caring, very knowledgeable, he will take care of you. We glad had him being our guide, the tour is adding 3x times more fun because of him. The drive to get there is long, about 3.5 hour/each way. But the lagoon is so much nicer in person than in the pic, the pic on internet always looks boring to me, until I get there to see. Prepare for some good hike, hiking stick must have or ask if they can rent to you. It’s located at higher latitude, so hiking up be prepared, or you can spend $10 to ride the horse up.

We are happy to meet all travel expectations. Very good recommendations for our friends who join our Quilotoa tour. Kevin feels grateful for the comments of him, he also had an incredible time. A big hug from Kevin and the entire Barak Ecuador Team.
    Fun experience
    Mark_S, Jan 2023
We had a great tour visiting the local market, a local home, and Quilotoa with our guide Victor. Though we didn't descend to the lagoon (some of our group did and said it was grueling walk back up to the crater rim), we walked along the crater rim trail and enjoyed the sights. The visits to the market and local home were also educational and enjoyable (try the humitas)!

We are glad to know that you were able to explore a lot on the tour. It is important to us that you can discover the flavors and culture of our beautiful Ecuador. We hope you can visit us again. We send you a big hug on behalf of Víctor and the entire Barak Ecuador team.
great trip and guide but hidden fees
    Laura_C, May 2021
Excellent trip,.guide and experience. Some hidden fees of $4 pp for required "donations* - but worth it

How incredible that you enjoyed our trip as much as we did when visiting these beautiful places. Without a doubt, it is one of the best experiences that can be enjoyed in Ecuador. On the subject of donations, they are extra fees charged directly by the community since they ask for contributions for the place where they grew up and now they try to take care of it. We hope it has not been so annoying and overshadowed your experience. On behalf of all the staff of El Barak Ecuador Travel, we send you a big hug.
    Laguna Quilotoa is breathtaking
    Anita_F, Mar 2021
The actual Laguna (lake) was breathtaking but be prepared because it gets very cold being so high up. Walking down to the actual Laguna takes about 40min to an hour, based on how in shape you are and coming up is hell (you can pay $10 to ride a horse up). We also got to meet an indigenous family and stopped at a shop that had wonderful artwork made by the native people, worth every cent to support native work. We were scheduled to leave at 7am and didn't leave until 7:20ish because the tour guide was running late (hint why I didn't give a 5star). We had to ask the driver to stop after 2:30hrs because we were starving. They were good at accommodating but make sure you speak up. The tour guide was decent, wish their was more interaction though.

How incredible that you have spent a wonderful time in Quilotoa, without a doubt it is one of the most beautiful lagoons in the world. Only by being in front of this wonder can you understand and enjoy its incredible view. Now with the issue of the time to start the tour, we apologize, we were in the transition of starting our tours again after a stop of 1 year and a little more because of the pandemic, so there were certain details that we had to adjust in the service. We thank you for your trip, your visit, your contribution to the community, and for living the experience of the true Ecuador. On behalf of all the staff of El Barak Ecuador Travel, we send you a big hug and we hope to see you again in Ecuador.
    Gabriel is the best!
    Jklish49, Oct 2019
Our tour guide Gabriel was great. He showed a deep knowledge and enthusiasm when talking about his home country of Ecuador and in particular the specific sites we visited. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone. Also he spoke great English.
